View Full Version : How have you been roleplaying your inquisitor?

<DIV>I have been reflecting recently on profession centred roleplay. Unfortunately there really is not a terrible amount of profession based lore available in Everquest 2. Therefore I like to hear how the players have set up their characters. Perhaps we can take a little bit from each other and excel at portraying our own inquisitors.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I took a strange stance with my own character. I decided not to start out as one of those fanatical and fear inspiring inquisitors. I instead set up a sort of start of the path character. He was a little shaky on his beliefs and not extremely knowledgable. Yet he was eager to learn and his beliefs have developed since then (not yet at perfection, probably never will be). Second important thing was that even if they were poorly developed he clung strongly to them, and in a few confrontations early on I found myself the first to back down. Now, slowly I am building up for the move from "student" of religion to an inquisitor sort of roleplay. Uddo is finding a sort of fulfilment and enjoyment in the confrontations on political and faith matters. After drinking for a period some of those pesky inhibitions start to melt away and he can become more outgoing and even start causing the confrontations. I shall have to see where all this leads.</DIV>

<P>I roleplay my inquisitor like a do all my characters. A complete nut-job.<BR>If someone follows you into your inn room and starts jumping on your bed for an hour, that's probably me. :smileyindifferent:<BR>If someone slowly twitches their way to you in the broker line-up and /emotes 'Scauhn starts brushing your hair.' That's me too. :smileyindifferent:</P>

<P>My character is a spin off from my EQ1 character. I was a human cleric of Erolissi Marr (Goddess of Love and Passion, the good faction in freeport) in EQ1. When the priests of love were run out of freeport, I believe I read some lore that they were trapped in a cave and shut in (befallen maybe? not sure), and if not, that's just what happened to Camthan. The sheer power of his misery and hate at that point grew mightier than the love in his heart, and by will power alone he lived 500 years to claw his way out of the cave to destroy the ones that caused it. Unfortunately, over the 500 years, he went insane, and by the time he got out of the cave he had forgotten everything except the notion of torturing those that sealed him in. As he found his way out, the first person he met was an evil halfling, who after hearing the bits and pieces of the story that he could remember, convinced him that Qeynos that had betrayed him, which made Freeport chase him in the cave and seal him in. So Camthan dedicated his time to learning how to torture, as well as his past knowledge of healing, to either destroy those in his way, or to convert them into following him.</P> <P> </P> <P>But that's enough of backstory. I role play my character as a complete sadist, blaming everyone for what happened to him, and torturing them until they see the light and join his cause. Eventually all of Norrath shall be under my rule, and I will own everyones soul.</P>

<DIV>I have a Dark Elf Inquisitor on Lucan as well (Mardie) but because of the Historical aspects of the Inquisition and theoritical aspects Dark Elf history I role play her as a dominatrix - think heels, leather and a riding crop! She will heal you if you submit to her will, if not, you might get spanked! I play her as someone who decended from TD Royality and is better than everyone else and knows it. She can be your best friend, or worst nightmare...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>:smileyhappy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Marb</DIV><p>Message Edited by Marbus on <span class=date_text>01-05-2006</span> <span class=time_text>11:35 AM</span>

<P>^ OMG! :smileysurprised:<BR>I used to joke about wanting the Unholy Adept spell to summon a goblin in bondage gear, with a little whip and mask.</P> <P>Am I seeing a disturbing pattern in the mentality of Inquisitor players? :smileyvery-happy:</P>

<div></div>Yes, I think all Inquisitors have to have a Marquis de Sade in them, or we wouldn't have picked the class.

Ah, roleplaying. Gotta love it...when it can be found. As for me...I am as a seeker of Truth. There is only one Truth - that Hate is all-encompassing, and that even the most pious of followers of lesser gods and foolish ways still have a kernel of pure, untainted Hate in their hearts. Oh yes, the gods do still exist...they simply reveal themselves only to those who are worthy...and the worthy are few and far between. All others in this world are to be used for as long as they remain useful and for as long as they advance the cause of Truth. There are times when it is useful to be part of adventuring groups or "guilds" that include non-believers...after all, for those whose eyes still remain closed to Truth despite the efforts of those who have seen Truth, only the doorway of Death can bring unsullied vision. And there are those times when the eyes of the blinded are opened by actions and words.Other "emotions" are only pale reflections and prismatic refractions of the One Truth. Even the followers of the ways of love have true Hate within them...and it is the duty of the worthy to show the weak-willed and the blind the error of their ways. Their eyes must be opened to Truth. Only then can they accept it and become worthy of true power. There are those who are so forlorn that they cannot accept Truth. They have so hardened their hearts against Truth that they go so far as to profess that Truth does not exist. For those, the first answer is the Inquisition. Flames char and blacken the body, implements of Inquisition leave scars in the flesh and illusions may leave the mind reeling, but in the end, even the most stubborn non-believer has his or her eyes opened to Truth. Pain purifies the spirit and sharpenes the vision of the mind's eye and it is in this state that those who are worthy begin to see and realize that the words spoken by the worthy are Truth. And if the pain cannot clarify their vision enough, there is but one answer. The doorway of Death brings the sight of Truth to us all.<div></div>

Whoever posted that bullet list up there, you are awesome.I RP a Teir'dal who has seen "the true faith" in a vision. He believes he hears The Voice, the sound of hundreds of thousands of other faithful in a collective (Err.. think the Borg) and has completely abandoned Innoruuk and all the other gods, calling them lesser beings that locked away the true God.He doesn't show it very often, because despite his hearing of The Voice, he has seen few who are like him. He listens to the House (Guild) he is in, because it suits his purposes to appear to be forming alliances for them through guile, coercion and force, and then using them for his own desires to advance his God's cause. He is oddly kind, healing random people who are in danger, always preaching the word. But ignore it, and face a /duel to the death for your lack of faith and foresight!Hmmm at this point, whoever said that all inq's seem to have a darker edge to them inside might be right.....

Khaezad is an interrogator.  He works for the temple of war and claims "war is his god, because it's good business."   He has been trained to believe in his skills, and those skills are dedicated to furthering the cause of the Temple.  Within his guild, he is finding his "position", but would not mine taking up the role of chief interrogator for the Captain of Shadow Company. For Khaezad it's all about breaking down mental barriers to get to the truth.  Think an investigator who doesn't believe any method is outside his use.<div></div>

Ah yes, roleplaying. Much harder to find on the RP server than one would think, at least if you want any kind of quality roleplay. I've mostly given up on it here and gone back to my traditional pen & paper kind of RP, but my character was a scholar and a theologian who couldn't possibly care less about Innoruk or Neriak or any of that rubbish. She wasn't natively cruel or evil just for its own sake, but had no problems doing what needed to be done to advance her goals. She was polite and friendly for the most part and was definetly not a fanatic or into torture. That sort of thing she leaves to the more brutish, less refined people. Besides, it's messy and she's *just* had this dress made.<div></div>
