Filtysnake- I think the weapon you are referring to was known as the Skullsprainer, this was replaced by a choice of 2 weapons either 1h or 2h known as marrowsplinter and great marrowsplinter i think, neither are any good I seem to remember using the inquis quest reward for the first few levels then an imbued carbonite morningstar and buckler or an imbued carbonite warhammer (2 handed)depending on the situation
