OK, long story short, my current main is a SK and my g/f is a Temp. We're both level 70 , but we didn't come up together. She actually came up in a rather... odd manner which I'm not really gonna take the time to explain (no, not ebay or GMWorker LOL) just her wierd playstyle. She's relativly new too MMO's though and we didn't get together till her toon was already like 60. I play LOTS of differet MMO's and classes, but one class I never touch in any game... a Healer. I love them in a grp, I hate to play them. Just not my thing; thank gawd other people can play them. =) So I'm tryin to help her on her AA, but I'm not having much luck with her playstyle.Anyway, she's 70 now, has and has around 45 AA in her Cleric tree and 22 in her Templar tree. She plays mostly duo with me (where healing is never a concern) or 6 person groups. Occasional raids. She plays totally as a healer. She pretty much has ZERO desire to solo or fight. SHe wants to TOTALLY be the best healer she can be. Now I've noticed most of your AA lends itself it seems too... turning y'all into DPS.So far she's gone down the Wis line, 4/4/4/4 I think, and STA 4/4/4/4/1. From what I've read so far, I'm guessing she'd be better off gong down the INT line. As far as the EoF line goes, she's mostly maxed the unattached Cures and Sancuary and such, just starting on the more "offensive" (debuff) stuff.ANY advice would be appreciated for her playstyle...She's VERY defensive, heal oriented, with 6 person grps being the norm. I just dont' know how to help guide her as she gains more points or to help her respec.THANK you very much!Stupid SK

I'd suggest 4 4 4 8 sta and 5 4 4 8 1 int for cleric aa's. And for the templar tree she should really really go for the blessings buff first while maxing out unyielding benediction and glory of battle. After that max out sanctuary and then nothing else in the templar tree will help much so just get w/e.

Thanks for such a quick reply! I jsut logged into her account again and was looking down her EoF line, and I think you're right; that blessing line does look powerful. I was just telling her that before I read your post. Thanks again!Clueless SK

Blessing line is great but don't waste your points on glory of battle upgrade.

I have that maxed and don't see any change on proc rate. I was getting about 2-3% healing zonewide before the AA upgrade and I am getting 2-3% healing after. 6 points is alot to waste on something that gives you no benifit.

Message Edited by Kizee on 01-29-2007 07:10 AM

Guess I should not comment it but just cant restrain myself. Sorry but have to ask.

In raids Templars often do zero or close to zero damage when they are in MT group. (At least I) but in a group or even worse in a duo… can a duo really afford to have one person just doing nothing except heal? I know a lot of dualbox using a healslave but in a team? Shrug.

With a good plate tank healing most of the time isn’t any problem at all. But working through trashmobs takes its time and with some members of the team don’t doing any damage I guess it can take rather a long time. So if not a pure healer why don’t put just some effort in doing some damage to? I think that would help the group more than being a heal/buff slave just.

No ill thoughts, just very curious.

/Tash

In the raids I've done, there often isn't a lot of time to position yourself in melee range if you are the MT templar, and often its flatout unsafe with AoEsStill 0 dps is a bit silly - we do have master strikes and a reasonable DoT. Outside the MT group no excuse, and group and duo - even less.Specifacally duoing with a SK/Templar combo - run a parser and you will see that the Sk does a lot of the healing so its really not a great pairing - bard/enchanter with SK is vastly superior. And for a templar - a rogue I'd suggest - can tank well enough with a templar healing and has much higher dps.Interestingly enough - A SK tanking (with the EoF AA Reaver line) will often outheal a priest in group content - lack of cures and power are the main issues

I am a DPS templar (well, I'm not. I'm a healing templar. But I like swinging my weapon.) Being the best healer you can be can also involve strategic use of damage Like smiting or striking when the mob is at 10% or less, etc. Anyway - I'm fond of WIS/INT or INT/AGI lines (the end ability shield comes in handy for the OT in raids if I'm on the OT group, since the MT group usually has groupwise AE immunity), also another avoidance buff for your tank. Blessings and Compliances might be nice for her, and also maxing out one of the cures. I have cure trauma with 5 points for those debilitating mobs - I can literally 'spamcure' in a raid situation and still be healing quite a bit of damage (ie not compromising the tank with less raw healing).I used to be a duo templar for along time and was eventually poked into stepping into the fight... now I can't get out of it even if it kills me. Maybe she just needs some encouragement? Otherwise, in a raid sitation melee is sometimes suicidal but uaully always tactically unsound, as we kinda need to stay alive to keep the MT and others alive. So the more dstance from theencounter and the less hate we gen the better. So not that non-combat is a bad habit at all, but it will just make duoing kinda painfully slow. If she goes WIS line though, fight a lot of undead and she may feel that casting damage spells and swinging her weapon isn't such a big waste of time (which is the usual reason some Templars don't).

OK, maybe I exagerated(sp) a little there... when we duo for instance, as I stated above, healing is never an issue with me being a SK, and of course she does do some dps... throws out her little spellz, swings her weap, and completes HO's, etc. When in a 6 person grp, she mainly focuses on heals and debuffs though, rarely parses on the dps. Sure, she could go up there and turn on her auto atk I suppose (actually told her she should) but it's baby steps for now, lol. She respeced as the 2nd poster suggested and is seeing how she likes it. Loves the faster casting speed so far. Not sure about the Templar line AA stuff yet (doesn't parse and just respec'd do no noticable difference yet).Oh, and I started a Defiler today (since I only play evil toons, and I like to play "lesser played classes"). Going to force myself to learn a healer, hehe. Coulda gone Inquisitor, but we have a few high lev's in the guild already. Wish me luck, heh.
