I currently play a 65 fury and over the course of those levels I have figured out a few things about what I like and don't like. First off I do not like raiding, do not like soloing a healer and enjoy being a healer in anything from duo up to full group. Lastly, I want to start a new character and was considering a templar. I realy have one question for the templar community in general, will my experience leveling up a templar (I am not a power leveler, I tend to take my time) be much different then what it was on my fury? I have never played a plate class in any MMO, much less a plate healer. Thanks

My experience (level 55 Templar) is that I play the class for grouping. Soloing is pretty much out of the picture unless you roll a DPS Templar with your AA's but I haven't tried that. I only use my Templar in groups (even Duo its great). So if you're looking to group and heal and debuff primarily then this is the class.

Your levelling up experience as a templar will be similar to the fury, we're both healers and that's what we do well.

Like the previous poster said, your experience should be similar. The fact that we wear plate = less healing on ourselves but if you dont plan to solo much... then the difference will be harder to see. Im a DPS templar (not full AA yet) and im finding that the DPS is alright atm (well against undead at least) if you really want to have another experience you may want to try another thing than healer. But really the experience is very similar.

I'm a dps templar - Fully specced for dps.

I have solo'd to 50 and then a fair few levels past that. I can say one thing, Templars are hard to kill (I have less then a 100 deaths, compared to my wizzard friends who are in the thousands)

If there's any one thing i've learned when it comes to templars we're mediocre against ^^^ targets (blue or better) and marginal against multiple encounters (To much interuption)

Personally i prefer my blackscale beatstick - which has allowed me to hit for up to 3,000 points of damage (double that for a dual hit) and gives me a good boost to my int and wisdom. Yeah. Monsters might resist spells a lot. they don't resist a nasty melee hit though.

My spells are in the 12-1500 point range atm. I still need more intelligence, I'd like to try and get the critical hits into the 2k range (I don't have smite wrath yet, We'll see though)

My advice to a young templar? You get what you put into the class. Unfortuantly templars tend to be high maintenance. You need adept or better spells, You need good equipment. Leave anything hanging and chances are you'll take a dirt nap or be fustrated with your performance.

Ultimatly Templars are however, A group class, You'll work well with a guardian or berzerker, Who can take the hit to allow your reactives to work. Often monks and bruisers get hit and won't trigger the reactive - forcing you to use all your instant heals on them, And in the midst of combat that 5-10 cycle refresh time seems quite a bit longer.

Just remeber, Your not all healing. You can mez, stun and pacifiy if things get bad. Use everything you have to win eno[expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]ers holding nothing back - Remeber you also have master smites and what ever crappy racial damage trait that you've picked up (wee. 58 points of devine damage, procing 2 times a minute for 3 minutes)

Tbiggs. 70/54 Templar
