Hey all, im having trouble deciding which class i want to play and im looking for some input. I wantto play a healer class i believe, but one that is not totally useless dmg wise. I believe i either want to be a templar or a fury, but cannot decide between the two. I want to be wanted in groups (which both are) and also have some good damage spells where maybe i could solo every once in awhile when i need to. I hear the fury has good dps and some good damage over time spells, but it seems the templar has the heavy armor and hammer advantage along with some strong nukes. Im do not necessarily care about which will be good at raid healing as im no where near that level yet (havent created the character yet hah) but which has an easier time keeping a group alive (1 healer) and also which can solo the easiest. Taking into effect any changes EoF is placing on the two classess...?

I love my little Templar but I actually will have to advice you to play a Fury.
They are just so much fun. The have damage they have heal and they have lots of utilities as well. There will be times when you miss some of the templars heals but the templar more often miss the Furys utilities and damage.

So sadly yes from what you seem to want I say Fury.
/Tash

I agree with the other posters, soloing is really slow compared to other classes with a templar, and as far as dps is concerned, you'll have very little of it until you've gotten a fair way into achievement lines. Templar's plate armor is nice for grouping, but not so great for solo'ing because of the high amount of spell interupts you get. Heal-wise, the healers are pretty well balenced.

Templar's actually have more dps than most priests, but ONLY if their spells and gear are upgraded to pretty much the best in the game, and only at the higher levels with 50+ AA's. As upgrading your gear to the level I'm thinking of would take an immense amount of time and plat, and also involves raiding once you hit 70 - I have to recommend a fury. First, you'll most likely have more fun levelling unless you only want to group. Second, as I mentioned earlier, to get a Templar's DPS up to the point where we go from among to lowest to pretty darn good (1150 dps on a single ^^^ x4 in a raid is better than most can get), you have to raid, and Templar's are fairly flooded, it's rare for a guild to want to recruit another Templar. Then again, fury's have been percieved as being overpoweringly awesome for ages now, and they're fairly saturated too. Well, as your just starting, that comes into play later, you want to find something thats fun first - go with the fury, but I'd also create a Templar to play around with. Who knows, you might enjoy it.

1150 DPS is not in any way, shape or form common. I am not sure how you (or someone else) did it....but I certainly can't do that. I tested AA's for full melee DPS with a Blackscale Maul and Master nukes and mostly Fabled gear. The best I got raiding was about 350 or so on a single target mob. Maybe having everyone put thier dps modifiers and haste on you it is possible to get higher than what I did, but a Templar is rarely in the DPS group of a raid. On the topic of this thread, yeah go Fury or Warden

I never said it was common. Anyway, it was in the MT group, Guardian Templar Warden Dirge Coercer Mystic - none of them were single target buffing me cept for the warden with his wis/power buff. All masters, fabled weapons, relic bp etc. For a raid level templar with decent gear, spells and ability, 350 dps is easily achievable solo.Edit - Blackscale Maul is nowhere near the best weapon for DPS you can get. Try Spinesnapper, Vraksakin Claw Club or that 2h'er from AoAx2.

Message Edited by Raistlan on 11-16-2006 06:01 PM

In Beta, I was soloing for well over 1,000 DPS on heroic undead...which (if you haven't noticed) are the most prevalant type of creature we tend to find in Tier 7 Echoes areas. Currently, with 62 Achievements (raid healer spec), I'm only hitting around 650 DPS solo. I'm curious to see what happens as I gear up with Adornments and eventually damage related achievements.

(On Test, I have a Templar in all Treasured and quested gear, with all Apprentice or Adept I spells, and only 35 Achievements who routinely pulls in 600+ DPS soloing non-undead).

I realize there are weaknesses with our class...but frankly, damage shouldn't be brought up as one of those difficulties at this point. Any templar who wants damage can achieve damage. You've just got to understand the class, and pick damage related deities, gear, and achievements.

Message Edited by Kendricke on 11-24-2006 06:11 PM
