View Full Version : Templar Armor - give me some hope.

<DIV>I love armor. I'm one of those people that pays just as much attention to how my armor looks than to the stat benefits it provides. Having good-looking armor is a major immersion factor for me in a game. If I'm a Templar, a warrior priest, I want to look like one. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I started out with the noob isle armor as I did all of the quests. Sure, it was nothing spectacular, but that was ok. I was a newbie after all. My armor didn't improve, but it was still early and I had hope. Then came the Armor Quests. The armor looked fantastic - I finished all 6 quests by level 24 and had the full set. I remember thinking "man, this is what I'm talking about", convinced that the days of ugly armor were over. I had a real set of beautiful plate, spaulders (not plate sleeves, spaulders) and all. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I hit level 30 excited about my next set of armor. I eagerly purchased a full set of Pristine Forged Feyiron Plate, and put it on. I was immediately shocked and disappointed. I had just replaced my beautiful AQ armor with what looked like the same crap I had worn for the first 20 levels of my existence. I no longer looked like a warrior-priest...just some guy in a newbie metal shirt. I couldn't believe it. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I finally figured out a solution. I sold all of the visible pieces of my set chest, legs, gaunts, gloves) and replaced them with pieces from the Orc Marauder set. I was relieved - I once again had armor instead of a shoddy-looking metal shirt. The difference was drastic - I'm once again happy with how I look. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So, you may ask, what's the problem? There are several:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1) The Orc Marauder set is inferior, stat-wise, for a Templar. It has less wisdom and results in a smaller mana pool. It does make up for it in some ways (resists, which the forged set doesn't have), but ultimately the forged set is better for a healing role. I compensated for this by buying top-end wis bracelets, rings, and idols, but that doesn't eliminate the problem. I'm forced to choose an inferior armor set because the best armor set for my class and level range makes me look like I'm level 10. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2) This hurts armorcrafters. I'd prefer to support my server tradeskillers instead of relying on drop armor, but the only plate armor with wisdom they can make looks like something made out of a garbage can. In fact, I love armor so much I took up armocrafting. It's currently at level 27, and I don't know if I'll level it anymore. What's the point, if I can't even make myself armor I'll enjoy? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Is there any hope? Are there any decent-looking armor drops for Templars past the 30's? The Orc Marauder will last me till then, but I'm worried about the future. I was hoping that mastercrafted priest plate looks better, but I was told the graphic is the same as the standard kind. Do any of the higher level armors actually look okay? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I should probably clarify what I'm looking for. To me, Vanguard-style graphics look like plate armor. Basic plate does not. Templar AQ armor has Vanguard-style graphics, as does the Orc Marauder set. There are variations, but that's the general idea. How do I obtain armor I like without having to [Removed for Content] myself entirely by wearing Vanguard (str, sta and no wis)? All input is appreciate. </DIV>

<div></div>Sony has determined that Clerics will wear the lame non-vanguard plate armor. I don't know why this is, but it's really annoying... We used to only have one type of plate armor, and it was the vanguard appearance but we had to share stats on it with the warriors and crusaders who also used it. Never fear, there is hope for most Templars when they reach the endgame! <a href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=13&message.id=24844" target="_blank"> http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=13&message.id=24844</a> <div></div><p>Message Edited by Supernova17 on <span class=date_text>09-20-2006</span> <span class=time_text>07:34 AM</span>

Just wait until higher levels. If you start raiding you'll look like a complete clown with all these mismatched looking pieces here and there lol. It's a little bit of a sore subject with my wife as she always gets annoyed at how the armor never matches with her character. Personally, I'd like a nice looking set of matching gear, but will happily look like Gonzo if it gives me better stats <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

I cant stand the way I look in game right now...-Huge, bright yellow spaulders.-Skinny, dark grey pants.-Green boots.-Bright silver gauntlets.-Yellow/Pink helmet with these huge wings sticking out of it. (Although I like the way it looks, it's still ridiculous)-Enormous grey shield with no design at all.-Crumby looking mace.I have such fantastic visions for what a templar should look like. If only I had the ability to transfer that image to paper.

<P>Hehe Yeah I dont know what they were thinking with KoS.. I mean before that the Tiered Armours' colours and such werent too bad but come t7 bring on the Pink'ish plate... Yay... ( totally hate the look of plate vs. vangaurd ). And you're stuck with plate pants until your guild can kill Tarinax or Hurricanus ( or you finish claymore <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. I dont mind my current look ( Arms of Seeing, Black Lotus BP, Claymore Legs ) but wow really Pink is soo not heroic. I mean at least SK's Gaurd Zerkers relic looks pretty good ...</P> <P> </P> <P>Gemmas 70 Templar Exalted</P><p>Message Edited by Whitemane on <span class=date_text>09-20-2006</span> <span class=time_text>08:51 AM</span>

They were basically knights in full silver Vanguard, with the except of a large white cloak with a giant black cross on the back. The cloak would wrap around their entire armor. Looked spiffy.
Supernova is right, the T7 plate armor is much better. I am hoping they have something cute for us in the expansion. too.

Don't know if this helps or not... Part of the EoF expansion is that there will be bonuses for matching armor sets, ergo, that tells me we're going to start to see a lot more dropped sets available like the relic sets, crafted, and class specific sets (ie.- Firebrand).Although to push EoF down everyone's throats, I am sure the bonus only applies to armor dropped in EoF and not DoF or KoS.

<P>I really don´t see any problem here. If you go for looks, choose the best looking plate you can get. If you go for stats, choose the armor with the best stats. You cannot really expect all armor to look alike and match your taste in all seven tiers.</P> <P> </P> <P>I personally don´t give a [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] how I look like as long as I can keep my people alive.</P>

The high 30's? Nightblood (north enchanted lands) armour is pretty good for a templar - lots of WIS, and a full set looked quite spiffy if I remember correctly.<div></div>
