The EQ2 Templar has some similarities but a lot of differences.  The Templar does not have nearly the offensive capabilities that the EQ1 cleric had.   So, the play style is a bit different.  Templars are not the most powerful healers in EQ2, there is no such thing. Healing is balanced pretty well across the priest classes.  However, each priest class shines better under different circumstances. Templars and Inquisitors, with plate armor can take more damage than other priest classes (although Mystics do pretty well with their ward spells).  This give Templars more survivability.  Templars pay for this by having very limited offense.Rez is still useful.  The biggest thing about rez is not saving exp loss or corpse retrieval (since that doesn't exist in EQ2) but saving the long run back to your group.  Also, since rez can be done in combat you can bring your tank back to life within a few seconds. My opinion is that Templars are good in groups but even better in raids. Solo,  the Templar is pretty poor.  You can solo its just that advancement is very slow.Templars have big, one shot, massive heals like EQ1 Clerics but they also have something completely new - the reactive heal.  A reactive heal, in case you don't know, works like this:  Place the reactive heal on your target (group member or whole group) as a temporary buff.  Each time the group member gets hit by a mob it triggers a reactive heal for x amount of health to your group member.  This heal can replace part or all of the damage your group member receives for that hit.  The reactive heal buff has a limited number of procs and last between 30 and 45 seconds before it needs to be recast.  But, its fairly power efficient. If you want more offensive capability I suggest a Fury.  <div></div>

<div></div>Compared to EQ1 clerics, any EQ2 class is a soloing god/goddess.  If this person is asking about soloing on old EQ1 standards, I think an EQ2 Templar will surprise them on how easy it is to solo <span>:smileytongue:...  it did me.But to reinforce what was said... there is no CH in the game... no one spell that makes a cleric a better healer hands down.  Clerics are known for their Reactive Heals as was said.  Druids are known for HoTs, which are like EQ1 cleric's Celestial/Etherial Elixirs.  Shaman are known for wards, which are like EQ1 enchanter runes, but don't cost a peridot or whatever <span>:smileytongue:</span>.  Each priest type gets a single and group version of these specialty heals.Good priest classes, from Qeynos, are usually a little less DPS, but more defensively based.  Evil classes are more known for damage or augmenting damage so defense is less needed. As for what is needed most in groups and raids...  its usually what the group or raid is lacking.  There's less of an easy answer <span>:smileyhappy:.  But Templars are good for HP buffing still, so can usually find their way into the main tank group of a raid.  We're conversely less useful in secondary positions as we can't augment other's damage capabilities as much as many others.  Essentially what can be said is too many of one priest class won't be good to have when compared to an even mixture.</span></span><div></div>

<DIV>Aditu said it well, Templar is pritty much required in the MT group, we have the highest HP buffs but not by a lot, and the stoneskin is very good.  But outside the MT group we dont add as much to all the DPS and backup as most other healers do.  In eq1 you only needed a couple shamans a couple druids then a bunch of clerics, not required but that was ideal.  In eq2 the best raid will have 1 of all 6 types of healers, unless more or less healing is required.  Then you can add or subtract as needed.  </DIV>
