<DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ccffff>Hi, all. I noticed in a couple of different threads here that people have mentioned in individual posts that they'd love to have an /ignore function here on the forums, whereby they could ignore specific forum members and never have to see another of their posts again. I, too, think this would be really helpful.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ccffff></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ccffff>There is a thread started by a fellow over on the Forum Help & Suggestions forum about that very topic. The forum is here:</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ccffff></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><A href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board?board.id=ForumHelp" target=_blank><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ccffff>http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board?board.id=ForumHelp</FONT></A></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ccffff></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ccffff>It may be impossible to do on a forum of this type, but it's worth a suggestion.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ccffff></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ccffff>Suite</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ccffff><IMG src="http://img284.imageshack.us/img284/6175/eliana054qz.jpg"></FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Ignorance is never a solution to anything. <p>Message Edited by zorbdan on <span class=date_text>11-15-2005</span> <span class=time_text>01:22 PM</span>

<div></div>  I think it isn't necessarily a good idea.  If you had a poster above me ignored and I responded specifically to them you might be confused in what got said and the conversation would go awry.  Would this also extend to if someone quotes a person you ignore?  I don't think forums are the place to ignore people.  I'd see this used inappropriately.  If you have the need to ignore someone, they must be harrasing you.  If you feel they are harrasing you, you report it to a dev for evaluation.  I've seen many times where someone complained of being stalked or harrased or of withstanding personal attacks when it just wasn't the case.  This would make it too easy for someone to truely ignore valid arguments, which to me outweighs the potential to ignore the invalid and the harrasers.  Responsible and intellegent discussions cannot be had if people are ignored (either by means of technology or means of flat out not caring to read their posts). Edit: typos. <div></div><p>Message Edited by Quijonsith on <span class=date_text>11-15-2005</span> <span class=time_text>03:07 PM</span>

<DIV>Yeah, forums are kinda hard to put an "ignore" function on... if you don't like an opinion you can either ignore it on your own or respond to it... but like the poster above said, if you put it in, you'd be missing half a discussion in some cases.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The really funny thing: someone says something outrageous and adamantly believes it to be true, no reasoning or discussion will ever make them re-think any aspect of it.  But there's someone else on the other end just as crazy and just as zealous.  Then there's those of us whom attempt to be constructive, and point out flaws in either side's arguement.  Then there's those that agree or 100% believe the crazies enough to hate anyone whom disputes or tries to reason with the opposing faction... </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Crazy1: I before E except after C!!!</DIV> <DIV>Crazy1's zealot: Sing it brotha!!</DIV> <DIV>Spelling bee contestant: Except when sounding like "A" as in "neighbor and weigh"!</DIV> <DIV>Crazy2: Sp3ll1ngz duzent mattur!</DIV> <DIV>Crazy2's adherant: Duhz! Warden healing was a prime example of that.  Otherwise, be glad you can perform your primary role (although it might not be as fun, rewarding, powerful as it may have been before) remember for about oh...10 months 2/3 of every class tree... pretty much was lame as could be and could only half-arsed perform their role at best... so... things have gotten better! <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I don't entirely remember where I was going with this... Everyone's talking and no one's listening. To suggest something like an ignore feature in a discussion is very immature. If something gets out of hand, the moderators will take care of it. Sharing ideas, opinions and trying to understand another person's point of view is the reason forums like these exist. To discuss, not to ignore everyone who doesn't share your opinion or ideas. </span><div></div>

<DIV>Ignore feature would be pointless...If i don't like what someone posts I just simply ignore it..or read the first few lines and move on.</DIV>

An ignore feature would obviously be a good feature to have on this board.  It would definitely cut down on some of the noise I have to wade through to get to the real meat of the issues, and I have yet to see an honestly valid reason against having such a feature. <div></div>

<DIV>So I guess SoE was immature for adding an ignore feature on the forums?  :smileyvery-happy:</DIV>
