I have my involuntary curate at adept 1, so it has 20percent chance to proc. Last night i noticed its proc rate was way to rare to be 20 percent. Is there a bug with its proc rate that i havent read about? I put involuntary curate and my mark spell both on a named heroic mob in a fight, me, a monk, a conj, his pet, we were all hitting it. We proced the mark spell that has a 20percent 3 or 4 times (counting times it reset not ticks) and involuntary only proc'd once for only one of us. This doesnt seem right when they both have 20percent chance and only one of them procs a good number of times. This was not limited to this fight, while grouping the whole night i hardly ever saw this proc.

Anyone else notice that their involuntary curate doesnt seem the proc as much as it says it should?

Most I could get it to proc was 3 times in about a 1 1/2 min battle not too bad ...but the whooping 260 pts it healed in the battle couldnt be noticed unless you were really looking for it. This spell is definately more usefull but just not much . Its utility healing that will only be used in long tough battles ....... but that is usefull at least .

I like its healing, but i was in a lot of long battles last night, and i have a tab set out so i can see what heals are going off from me. I counted and in a 2 hour period of fighting heroics that were yellow and orange and took over a minute each i only counted 11 procs from the whole night. That cant be the right amount that its proc rate says. Seems like it should proc more being that its 20percent.

Are there any parse programs that can track how often a certain spell goes off?

I imagine so on the Parser . Bottom line is overall not real usefull but in some limmited cases it will help .

Bah, the fact remains that this spell is worthless:

In a close fight, where every heal counts, getting 150 HP could, theoretically, save the day. I've seen a few fights that close.

But, in those close fights, spending 2 seconds to cast this spell would lose the fight. For comparison, Greater Amelioration has the exact same casting time but heals around 600 HP (4x the hp).

Further, in a close fight, I don't want to rely on a 20% chance for a spell to go off - I want it to go off when I need it.

Sure, Greater Amelioration costs 2x the power of Involuntary Curate - but it heals 4x the HP guaranteed. Well worth it.

So, for two reasons, Involuntary Curate is worthless in a close fight.

And, if the fight is not that close? Then, of course, you won't need this spell at all.

What the devs should really give us to replace this worthless spell would be something that we can count on, something that justifies the time we spend casting it and the value we get from it.

For example, imagine if this spell were replaced by a spell for the same casting time and power as Greater Amelioration that automatically heals 600 HP the first time the target's HP drops below 20%. Imagine if this replacement spell would last a minute, so you could cast it before the pull and it would last through the fight. Essentially, it would be like pre-casting an Greater Amelioration that you know would go off and you know it would heal (no 20% proc) and you know it would justify the time and power you spend to cast it, even if you cast it during the fight. Unless the tank never drops below 20% - the risk you take with casting many of other emergency spells.

Now I would call that a useful utility heal...

I agree, mark line procs about 4 times more often than unvoluntary. This is an observation from 2h of grouping and close watch for heals.

That is a good idea, though with similar spells such as the salvation line, I don't think they will add something like this. As for IC's proc rate, it seems far less than 20% to me as well, I think I only noticed it go off maybe 2-3 times over a 3-4 hr plow earlier today. Likely they changed the text for the percent but never changed the rate internally. It was nice of them to increase our worst utility spell to be marginally useful, as well as our 2nd and 3rd worst (mez and protective faith) in the last update, but we still have a ways to go.

Curaga
55 Templar
Unrest

the involuntary line shines it's best if you put it on multiple mobs attacking the mt and the fight is of medium to long duration (subjective but i don't feel like going into numbers measuring the fights). on one mob, yeah it hardly goes off. multiple mobs will do some decent backup healing with it. it's not easy to find time to do this, but if you pacify a mob, stun another, and cast these there ya go. it really depends on the group make up and the situation. I've got quite a few different strategies i've developed for different situations. templars are quite the adaptive class once you learn all the ins and outs. in a dps heavy group (all guildies. zerker, 2 warlocs, a ranger, and a wizard and me) i used atoning fate, pacify, and stun the most cause mobs were dieing so fast. it's all situational. side note, I kinda found the mez more than heal method that time to be a fun break from the norm, though many will say "we shouldn't be mezzing we're not chanters" and I can agree wtih that. it's all about your healing style. i have many. edit: side note 2. it is a utility heal. i don't rely on it. it just helps here and there for spot heals like most of our utility healing does. though most the others do much more than this does (GoC at adept 3 is 381 group and atoning fate adept 1 500+ group when mob dies) edit 2: i do notice this spell going off alot more than it did before this change. i always look for it, both before and after the change, when i use it.
Message Edited by Quijonsith on 11-14-2005 03:28 AM
