<DIV>I've only been playing a month, but I'm picking things up pretty good (as my sig will show).  And while unable to play at work, I enjoy looking online for tips, tricks, strategy, etc.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><STRONG><FONT color=#ff0000>/begin rant :smileymad:</FONT></STRONG></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I also like to poke around the forums a bit to look for things as well.  But there is a problem: The one place I would expect to find some useful information, right here on the Templar board, is almost completely devoid of useful info, filled instead with alot of complaints about game mechanics and how everyone is upset with how the Templar class is being handled.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I can see everyone's point, it does seem a tad bit unfair to have healing equal to every other priest class but being bottom of the list in offensive capabilities.  I agree fully.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My issue is that seems to be all that is being discussed here.  I've been visiting this forum for two weeks, and have yet to see anything worthwhile to read in regards to actually playing a Templar.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'd also like to point out that the devs seems to be encouraging this.  The only posts they make on this board are to warn about 'flaming', occasionally locking out a topic and posting it in the 'Glass House' area (for others to point at and laugh, I suppose).  Not once have I seen a dev actually answer or comment on the totally valid arguments being brought up here (in between the mostly incoherent ramblings of a few).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It'd be nice to see one thread, 'stickied' at the top of the forum for feed back and questions (read: complaints) for folks to post in about their griefs.  It'd make the devs work a bit easier wherein they could actually respond, if they so chose.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><STRONG><FONT color=#33cc00>/end rant :smileyvery-happy:</FONT></STRONG></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now that I have that out of the way, I'm at Level 23.  I have started that most interesting of armor quests (a bit difficult as I mostly play solo).  I just wish it'd been easier to find out about the quest in the first place!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So, in the interest of improving my own game play (a bit self-serving, I know), what other things should I be aware of, what quests should I be on the lookout for as a Templar?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anybody have any help for me?  Please?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks all!</DIV>

<DIV>You know I was just thinking that as I was typing here tonight.  I know devs have interacted with the class boards on EQLive, and I found that missing here.  I fault them hard for introducing a revamp of this magnitude and not becoming more involved with the questions and concerns they should have known would be coming.  Instead, they left it up to the players to argue about and it's gotten me so disgusted, I don't bother anymore.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But to answer your question, if you don't mind spoilers, you should check out <A href="http://eq2.ogaming.com/" target=_blank>http://eq2.ogaming.com/</A></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>On the left column, under the DATABASE heading, you should see QUEST SEARCH.  Click that and then fill in your level where it says Recom. Level on the bottom left and then check off TMP for Templars in the box.  Then click search.  A list will come up and show you all the quests for your level you can complete.   Look over the quests that are rated "Excellent" or "Very Good" especially.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You don't have to read the spoilers if you don't want to, but it's a good guide to give you some ideas for things to do to get yourself geared properly.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I linked the search for you below for the level 23 Templar you listed, as an example:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><A href="http://eq2.ogaming.com/db/search/quests_results.php?na=1&recommended_level=23&class_tmp=1" target=_blank>http://eq2.ogaming.com/db/search/quests_results.php?na=1&recommended_level=23&class_tmp=1</A></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Good luck!</DIV>

A few general hints :<BR><BR>1. Use your money to improve your spellbook : your both direct damage spells, your DoT line, your both reactives, your both single target direct heals and your buffs should be  adept1's as soon as possible.<BR><BR>2. Work on all your foraging skills at the same time you level. If you happen to gather a rare gem, have a sage make you an adept3 spell. Upgrade the most recent spells first, since they'll last longer. ( Just seen you're a sage - so this hint and number 3 are obvious to you - they can help other templars though )<BR><BR>3. Do not kill any centaur in Thundering Steppes until all your foraging skills hit 140. Not being killed on sight by them helps alot. If needed, you can repair your centaur faction by killing gnolls in TS.<BR><BR>4. Complete as many quests as possible. The experience rewards are now fairly good, do not cost any vitality, and you often get a decent item. The quest lines from Jacques in Thundering Steppes and Thorg ( spelling ) on the beach in Nektulos are must do things. You can consider Kleron's quests in Nektulos too ( more solo friendly AQ's - even if the results are not that good )<BR><BR>5. If you are after solo exp, concentrate on undeads.<BR><BR>6. Try grouping. The friendships you'll build will be unvaluable later.<p>Message Edited by rollando on <span class=date_text>10-31-2005</span> <span class=time_text>04:52 AM</span>

Exactly.  I'd be interested in hearing a dev's reply to this, or at the very least an explanation as to their noticable silence.

This is a fair question to ask so I know the community will chime in here, lets not let it get to a flame war though. Thanks!

<P>Hello all, hehe finally a thread that could be of some use to all of us weather we are a new, average, or veteran(spelling) EQ player.   I'm far from a veteran myself but you were asking about quests to keep an eye open for.  I recommend your top priority quest be "Stiletto's Orders Intercepted", it requires you be a minimum lvl 28.  If your in a guild it gives your guild a decent amount of Status Points.  Personel status I believe is around 50,000(forgive me if this is wrong, but I believe it's close).  The final quest reward is a mana stone.  You can use it to turn a part of your health into power.  I believe it's reuse timer is around a minute and a half(not positive though).  </P> <P>As a caster of any type(particularily a healer class) depending on the battle, you will go through your power pool quite quick, and if you don't over-heal or over nuke you shouldn't have to  worry to much about drawing the aggro from your MT(so you won't lose much health during the battle), hence you will be able to afford to turn your health into power.  I know myself, I was saved more then once by using the mana stone.  As a healer it will give you enough extra power to allow you to cast that one last Reactive Heal needed for your group to finish off the mob.  Hehe sometimes it's enough but then again sometimes it's not.  But I guess that's the way the ball bounces if you will.  None the less this is a definate "HAVE TO HAVE" item(imo), I still use it at lvl 46.  </P> <P>Another quest I would recommend is "These Boots Were Made For Walking...."  Reward is a pair of Dwarven work boots that are good until you finish the "J-Boots quest.  Even better then the AQ boots. </P> <P>These are two of the primary quests any adventurer should complete, once again,(imo). </P> <P>Now let's all keep this thread a constructive one and no flaming.  :smileywink:</P> <P>Message Edited by ShockG1 on <SPAN class=date_text>11-01-2005</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>03:18 AM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by ShockG1 on <span class=date_text>11-01-2005</span> <span class=time_text>03:23 AM</span>

<div></div>Yeah, Melfius, don't be afraid to keep asking questions anyway.  I got pretty frustrated with the arguments about the update when I was looking for ways to adapt to the way things are.  I decided to ask everybody <i>but</i> templars because I was so annoyed.  I missed out on some good info because I assumed people were too busy fighting to help. Some of these guys can help you.  I am still learning my way as well.  The armor quests can be tough to solo, but they're worth it.  There are always people trying to do them, so you stand a pretty good chance of meeting some interesting folks.  Even if you like soloing better, grouping up if only for these quests will make it so much faster.  Make sure to do the mail quest in the Thundering Steppes.  It isn't just for templars, but it is a lot of fun at your level.  There are a lot of quests scattered throughout the Thundering Steppes and Nek Forest that are worth doing.  You are also ready for Zek and the Enchanted Lands. Good luck with your templar and I hope you have fun. EDIT: I wanted to add that I agree with Shock. <div></div><p>Message Edited by 3devious on <span class=date_text>11-01-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:08 AM</span>

Not only would I work on Manastone, but I'd also start shopping for a guild. I don't know your playstyle, but if you solo alot, chances are you're looking for a more casual guild than a more structured raiding / power guild. Nonetheless, getting yourself hooked up with a set of people that have the same gaming philosophy as you can really add alot of dimension to the game and help you progress. Some goals to set for yourself by lvl 30: - Manastone - Nek Castle Access - Cove of Decay Access (starts in Ruins of Varsoon) - Start Harvesting Windswept Stones in Thundering Steppes (you'll want a paladium cluster for the Shiny Black Rock Quest and as much rough jasper and paladium as you get your hands on for spell upgrades) - Giant Language Quest -- so you can do the Polished Granite Tomahawk quest (optional, but good xp and status) - Haddan's Earring (underwater breathing, good stats, good xp, good status, great quest)<p>Message Edited by Stjarna Kvarco on <span class=date_text>11-01-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:26 AM</span>
