View Full Version : Sooth Line for Cleric Classes (harvesting and soloing

Seems that My original thread in the combat revamp forum went upon deaf ears. I want to know what other templars think about harvesting. Please take a look at my original post that i made here

http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=comtest&message.id=15172#M15172

and is below

I think many of my concerns with my templar come from the fact that I can't harvest. Not necessarily that I can't solo efficiently. I rolled a templar with the knowledge that my primary role is a group healer. Not a solo-er by any means.

I love to group. But when I can't find a group I would like to harvest. My problem with harvesting is when I receive agro and am at the top of the hate list, I can no longer harvest the node. My problem with this, I can't kill the MOB's fast enough before some one else comes in and hijacks my node.

Before the revamp this was not a problem for me, if the mob was green I would comfortably let the MOB beat on my plate armor and I would throw a reactive heal or two on myself and happily mine the node and then run off the agro. Post combat revamp if I have agro I have to resort to either killing the monster or running away.

My proposed fix for the problem (yes there is a problem in my mind), make templars (maybe cleric classes) have another sooth spell that mirrors the first EXCEPT that it take 1 conc slot per cast and can be casted on 5 targets simultaneously.

Please don’t rant on my thread and say things that will get this thread locked. I welcome objective and thought out statements.

Thank you for your time

An anecdote..

Last night, I was not in a very good mood, so I was aimlessly wandering DOF. I ended up in the croc caves and saw some nodes, so I started to harvest. Someone pulled a croc on top of me, and kindly said that they had agro and that I shouldnt worry. I responded "huh" as Im a level 57 templar, and I was just getting used to the concept that the croc caves were grey to me and that I wasnt going to get agro, unless I wanted it.

So, i continued my wandering down there, and as I left, harvested one last node. This time someone angrily comments that I had just stolen their node that they had been clearing to. I turn around and notice that, yes, there was a party about 20 feet from where that node had been. I didnt know that they had been clearing to that node. I had no idea. To me, they were just like the party that had pulled a croc on top of me, and who had kindly informed me that they werent trying to agro me. They could have just been hunting croc caves. I did send a tell to apologize.

Currently, harvesting is a dangerous profession. I have heard so much strife and anger regarding harvesting that I try to avoid others when I harvest.

As for a multi target soothe, I would love to have one, but it may unbalance the classes. (Im more interested in what i could do with a multi target soothe in combat situations.)

And, sadly, gaining some levels will probably make your harvesting easier.

I guess grinding is my only option. Its just frustrating getting into a fight with a MOB and have someone come up when your standing on top of the Node and harvest it. It jerks my chain and peeves me off. Havent harvested much due to it and have missed out on alot of plat and upgrades because of it = Oh well. Elder

You mention sooth, i just wish it worked for the whole grp of mobs and not 1 mob in the grp.
