hi there all my good buddy has gone on secondment for 6 months and has loaned me his lvl 44 templar account ! to use or keep (top man!) i have a 42 conj 34 guardian but NO experience of being a healer! i thought would give it a try and see how it goes i know i will have to learn the hard way and will take time but if u can give me any pointers in the right direction it would be great my main questions are : (1) what do you cast on a tank when he pulls !? there are so many wards (2) what are the "best" healing spells so use during combat? (3) do u recast wards midfight? or just heals i hope to do the class proud thanks for any help in advance

To be completely honest with you, your best bet would be to start from the begining and learn as you go. Its very difficult to pick up a completely foreign play style at a high level.

Also, templars use reactive heals, not wards. Shaman are the ward casters of the priests.

***edited for spelling****

Message Edited by MadisonPark on 03-30-2005 09:51 AM

Basically, being a Templar just means that you have to be on your toes at all time. It's not overly difficult but it does require someone with common sence It does help that you have some other higher level chars so you pretty much understand the game play. You are going to have 5 main heals on your qb..*Greater Restoration.. a single target instant heal*Greater Amelioration.. this is another instant heal to the target,*Crucial Intercession, which is a group reactive. This means one this you cast this, when a mob hits, it heals the target,*Greater Intercession, Reactive heal + can increase AC when hit,*Word of Restoration, this is an instant group heal.Basically, you need to find out what he has these spells at currently. I would recommend getting a few of them to adept 3 if you can. It's always beneficial for a Templar to have all the heals at adept 3.What I normally do, and this depends on what you are pulling/fightng.. but once the main tank has pulled, I throw a single reactive on him.. you can top him off with singles heals when needed. If the encounter is a tough one, throw a group reactive + single reactive on the MT and use single targets when needed. You also have some debuffs that are pretty useful.. when you get the hang of healing down you can work on mastering those too Your best bet would be to group with some lower levels, do some mentoring I think you will find playing a Templar fun.. it always keeps you busy and there is no slacking off time Hope I gave you a little info you needed Have fun with the class!
Message Edited by Seeaira on 03-30-2005 11:07 AM
Message Edited by Seeaira on 03-30-2005 11:08 AM

You could get a reptutation as being an unskilled player and be unable to get groups at all. Im not trying to be unhelpful, just honest. Picking up a character thats already so close to the level cap is even worse than power leveling, plus you dont even have any back ground as a healing class.

Were I you, Id try out groups with friends who already know that this is not your original character, who dont mind giving you time to feel out the subtleties of healing.

A templar in itself is not a difficult class, however, to be effective you need to have a thorough working knowledge of the spells you have.

I won't give you a crash course in healing but you should get used to using your Group Reactive as your main heal. Unlike alot of the other classes this is one of the Templars most powerful heals and alot of people dismiss it because its a "group" spell.

Just browse through the forums here because there is alot of good information sitting around, and good luck with your Templar.

thanks for the advice i am basically gonna use this account with my guild only so i can build up my skills did about an hour last night and kept everyone alive in CT so that was ok i have created bars which have the reactive heals lined up which seem to stack, another bar for instant heals RF etc, 3rd bar melee attack nukes(!) etc and 4th bar all the cures/rez etc i didnt find it too bad actually, i always thought any healer class just click heal lol ! queing reactive heals seems to work nice, and slap in RF and others to get a heal on tank when they die worked nicely doubt if i will be grouping outside my guild anyway until a good 3 months of playing (disabled xp) so i dont gain any levels much fun so far ...
