<DIV>I am getting desparate here.  No matter what I seem to do to get past the first critter in the wembly instance I fail.  I tried using heroic opportunites as weill as casting bestowal of vitae before pulling and I keep failing.  I fear now tahat  I will never get past this  thinng.  any suggestions would help </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I also cast both the upgraded courage as well as redoubt on myself and still I keep failing.</DIV>

<DIV>HO is the trick</DIV> <DIV>I finished it at 18 but I dont know if the quest has changed since then</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Pull the mob with debuff</DIV> <DIV>Usually I killed the one that's roaming in the middle first</DIV> <DIV>If I remembered right He's only by himself</DIV> <DIV>Then I killed the undead on side 2 at a time ( one normal and one with a down arrow )</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Still HO is the trick</DIV> <DIV>Make sure you got full mana before each fight</DIV> <DIV>And the boss of the instance is behind the desk</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Good Luck</DIV> <DIV>Hope it helps</DIV>

<DIV>Well it has been some time since I completed this but it was very easy.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Make sure your spells are all app4 (I only had app3 available)</DIV> <DIV>- Have decent drink to keep the power at max before pulls</DIV> <DIV>- Pull to you so that you don't immediately aggro the next wave and have time to regen power</DIV> <DIV>- Always cast you best reactive on yourself before starting</DIV> <DIV>- Every spell should either start or complete the HO.  These are essential.  Always cast HO starter and then 2 DD spells.  Wait for HO starter to be come availble before casting the next DD.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you still have trouble then please post the specific of why you fail (eg run out of HP, run out of power, cant get spells off due to interrupts, etc)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I will try that this evening. There is one rub however.  My armor  and weapon anre green amd blue mainly with a piece or 2 of grey.  The other part if the rub is that I haven't u[pgraded many of my spells, and only have 28 silver pieces to my name.  I fear that I will not be able to upgrade what you think I would need to apprentice IV, if I can even find those upgrades.  Thanks for  the assisntance anyway.</DIV>

<DIV>I also completed this quest at 18, and, the availablility of cleric spell upgrades being what it is, I don't think I had any important spells (for this encounter) upgraded beyond App II. My armor was about as lacking as yours sounds, as I am fairly poor myself, though I have made a decent effort to take advantage of the best armor quests I could find.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Debuff and slam the HO's. That's about the best advice I could give. Also, make sure to maximize the effectiveness of BoV on yourself by not re-casting it until you've taken some damage to heal.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS">Good gear and good spells are critical to your soloing ability (and important to your grouping ability too).</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS"></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS">To survive the damage you need good AC. This means two things: good gear, and maximize your Defense skill. </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS"></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS">If you solo alot, your Defense skill should be at max. If it is not max, go solo some safe gray or green stuff until it is.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS"></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS">If your armor is gray or green, replace it. There are tons of quests that give some armor at your level. You're already reading the boards, so check out some quest ideas on these forums or other sites. If nothing else, it seems I got good armor/weapon quests by visiting the blacksmith shops in each area of Qeynos.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS"></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS">Doing quests will increase your cash funds as well - buy what you cannot find or receive as quest rewards.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS"></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS">Other posters mentioned HOs - take that to heart. Every spell you cast should be part of an HO. Time your spellcasting to begin right after you swing your weapon - your hammer damage is not great, but it helps and may make a difference in the outcome. But you don't swing the hammer while you cast so cast immediately after you see the text that you swung and missed or that you swung and damaged the mob.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS"></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS">Don't forget a buckler. I see some healers using 2h weapons, or a 1h weapon and book/symbol/etc. in their other hand. Bucklers give AC and damage avoidance and really help keep you alive. Bucklers can also have wisdom and power on them (but I cannot remember what is available at your level) - even though they never have as much as those neat zero-ac thingies, they more than make up for it by saving your butt. Save those symbols for when you are grouping and don't get hit often enough to care about AC.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS"></FONT> </DIV> <DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS">Lastly, every level you get makes these guys easier. Makes everything easier. It's truly amazing how something that is tough at one level is easy at the very next level. So get your next level. Just doing those quests I mentioned above should level you up anyway.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS"></FONT> </DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS">And, if all else fails, there is nothing stopping you from staying at level 19 and spending even more hours doing more quests and getting more cash and replacing more and more gear. No, you shouldn't need to sit around stuck at 19 adventuring for cash because you cannot ding 20 until you finish this quest - you should be just fine at 19 with replacing some of your gear. But if your armor/gear/spell situation is still desperate, it's always a final option.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV>I tried to follow these suggestions tonite, but still fialed miserabluy.   one time I was able to kill the first criter</DIV> <DIV>but hten  died trying to get to ghe boss.  then the nest time  the first cri8tter ofgfed me.  I took too much damage and my HO's were askihng mne to cast spells tthat didnt; work like gnoll master smite.  soryr. I am gettn more desparate to get this  the more I fail as it is getting late again and I don't  want to stay up way late again  for no  gain.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I even got so mad lat night that I smashed my keyboard.</DIV>

I'm guessing you're talking about the instanced solo mini-zone?When you zone in, DON'T MOVE. Buff up however you can, then get the first guy. If you haven't turned at all, or if you're good at re-aligning yourself, you can run down the center without aggro'ing any of the 6 mobs off to the sides. After that, run to the corner (off to the left I think) and take the roamer. Kill the remaining two mobs, then move on and finish off the last guy.If any of that is inaccurate, I apologize - it's been a while. The key is to get down the exact middle of that first hallway without aggroing any of the mobs. It can be done (unless they've changed it!)Hope this helps and good luckEdit: And make sure you're level 19! It's tought at 19, almost impossible at 18.<p>Message Edited by marni-n3rd on <span class=date_text>03-09-2005</span> <span class=time_text>11:23 PM</span>

<DIV>Just as a note.  I completed this quest back in November, less than a week after release.  So, all I had were app2 spells at most and blue/green/gray armor.  So, it's doable even with low end gear and spells.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I got through on my first try.  Take your time, rest up between battles to full power.  The only respawn in there is the roaming skeleton.  My strategy was to kill him first and take the skeleton pairs one encounter at a time.  Then I killed the roamer again, rested up, moved to the corner opposite the room with the final guy.  Killed the roamer again (just to be sure he didn't pop while I was killing the last room) rested and charged in guns a blazing for the final encounter.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Use your HOs.  Make sure your buffed.  Use your debuffs.  And take your time.  Easy as that!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>By the way, I did this quest at level 19.  By the way, for you HO you don't need to use a different spell on the second attempt.  HO trigger, smite, smite works.  Just have to wait for smite to refresh.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by Zabumtik on <span class=date_text>03-09-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:28 PM</span>

<DIV>If I'm not mistaken, when a HO flashes your Gnoll Master Smite, it should also be flashing your Smite and one other DD spell. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just in case we're overlooking the obvious here, are you sure you have hot buttons for all your spells available on your toolbar? When you get a new spell, if there is no open hotkey available, it just goes in your spell book. I have 3 toolbars almost full at level 20. If you're still operating on just one hotkey bar, you definitely have some new spells in your spell book that aren't being used.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In case you didn't know, right-click on your hotkey bar and select "create new hotkey bar" to make more bars available. Then check your spell book for any spells not already on a button.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And again, I did this at level 18 with little difficulty with gear and spell levels that were mediocre at best.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Lodakai on <span class=date_text>03-10-2005</span> <span class=time_text>05:16 PM</span>

<DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS">One other concern I have:</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS"></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS">Have you recovered any and all shards from the times you died? Not just in the instance zone, but everywhere else too?</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS"></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS">Missing shards really really reduce your power.</FONT></DIV>

I had only app1's and it took two tries.</FONT></P> <P><FONT color=#66cc99>1)When you first get into the zone, buff and throw a heal over time on yourself. </FONT></P> <P>2)Then pull the skeleton wandering near the end of the hall with weakness. </FONT></P> <P><FONT color=#66cc99>3)Start your HO's and hit your attack key to start swinging, nuke everytime an HO comes up. <DIV>Just completed this the other day.   I was 19 with 110%.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have all App III spells and the best crafted armor I could have (most was white at 19).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1.  When you zone in do not move.  The first mob won't get close enough to aggro you.</DIV> <DIV>2.  Cast all your buffs on yourself and drink something.</DIV> <DIV>3.  Cast Bestowal of Vitae on yourself.</DIV> <DIV>4.  Pull the mob with Mark of Pawns.</DIV> <DIV>5.  Cast Rebuke, and start your auto attack.</DIV> <DIV>6.  Cast your first HO chain.  I did Admonishing Smite/Radiant Strike combo.</DIV> <DIV>7.  Refresh Bestowal of Vitae.</DIV> <DIV>8.  Cast the HO chain 2-3 times.  Depends on when your BoV drops.</DIV> <DIV>9.  Repeat 7-8 till mob is dead or you are out of power.</DIV> <DIV>10. Walk down the center of the hallway, making sure not to disturb the guys on the sides.</DIV> <DIV>11. Head to the corner to the right and rest up till you are at 100% power.</DIV> <DIV>12. Pull the 3 mobs in front of the boss mob to you.  Use the steps 1-9 above.</DIV> <DIV>13. Rest till your power is near 100%</DIV> <DIV>14. Proceed to kill the boss with steps 1-9.  Moving to the corner near the boss to keep any respawns from killing you.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Using this method I was able to get through.  It only got close when I was killing the last of the 3 mobs from step 12.  I ran out of power and had to let my auto attack finish him off.  At that point I used Minor Arch Healing when I could.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>One odd thing though.  When I went to exit the area, the game crashed to desktop.  Luckily I still had credit for the kills.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Good luck.</DIV>

<DIV>I just wanted to say 'thanks' to all of those who replied.  I was able to do this 'blankity blank' quest last evening.  Isotope, my cleric,  is now at 19.91 with about 12% debt, so he should be able to advance to 20 and become a Templar rather soon.  Thanks again :smileyhappy:   :smileywink:  :smileywink:</DIV>
