<DIV>I am a level 31 Templar, have realized an inbalance in the damage spells we get.</DIV> <DIV>After several solo orcs, here is the stats i got:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>level 18 Admonishing Smite high hit - 150</DIV> <DIV>level 24 Combative Faith high hit 179 (+ the DoT's)</DIV> <DIV>level 25 Celestial Strike high hit 169</DIV> <DIV>level 31 Reproving Smite high hit 135</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>All of the above are at Adept III.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hasn't anyone noticed this?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Why would I even use Reproving Smite?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>SoE, is this another Fluff spell?  J/K lol</DIV>

<DIV>The way I understand these spells to work is as follows (note:  I could be wrong):</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you have Admonishing smite high hit - 150 @ grey you will see Reproving Smite hit 150 when it turns white (when you grow into it).  Only after this will it actually start increasing in damage and surpasing the earlier version of the spell.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>All damage spells of the same line seem to work this way.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>They wanted spells to scale with you.  There are several problems with this design.   The power cost for one is a major flaw.  It will cost you more power to cast a spell that does less damage.  This really doesn't make sense.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I believe all the debuffs work this way too, but I have not done testing so I can't say for sure.</DIV>

<DIV>I kinda figured that was how this worked.  Even though I see why they set it up this way, i dont like it.lol  But oh well.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It does take the fun out of getting a new spell though don't you think?</DIV>

<DIV>Whats even stranger is that if you throw a rebuke spell on the target, the Admonishing smite (App 4) does about the same damage as the Celestial Strike (App 4) for less mana despite both of them being capped (maybe CS isnt quite capped yet) at my level.</DIV>

<DIV>rebuke?  why not disgrace?</DIV>

<DIV>Yes, I've noticed it. No it doesn't make any sense but most classes have the same types of inconsistencies in their spells and combat arts. Hopefully, it will all get fixed in the next several months.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV> <DIV>Another thing to notice is that the strike line, while hits harder has a 6 sec reuse time. Smite line is only 3 sec, also uses less power.</DIV></DIV>

<DIV>what does reproving smite cap out at?  I'm only level 31, so i can only hit for about 120/130.  What about the higher level'sm what is rep smite capping for you?</DIV>

However, if its the case, then its broken. Rebuke has a very noticable effect on the damage of Arcane Smite (20% maybe?) making it equal Celestial Strike in damage. Disgrace has no noticable increase in damage for either spell. All spells are at App 4.</P> <P>I havnt parsed the results but I have experimented enough to be fairly certain that the above statement is correct. If I'm feeling bored later I may parse it to prove it.<BR></P>

<DIV>Yes, rebuke definately has a substantial effect on the smite spell.  </DIV> <DIV>And i beleive disgrace is making a difference, but it is very minimal at my level anyway.</DIV>

<DIV>Improve your damage output with HOs. I solo all the time and have no trouble taking down yellow mobs.</DIV>

<DIV>I'd like to follow up to say that the statement I made above is actually untrue at my current level (L34). I'm convinced that it was true at earlier levels.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I did some tests on some green Orcs in Zek at the weekend (sadly the results are at home, but I may post them later). It wasnt truely scientific, with a mear 5 orcs in each test.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Rebuke increases the damage of admonishing smite but Celestial smite is untouched.</DIV> <DIV>Disgrace increases the damage on both spells and it has a greater effect on Admonishing Smite than Rebuke does.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hence, at L34, Disgrace is a better spell to use to debuff than Rebuke.</DIV>

<DIV>Well as to be expected tbh, Disgrace is the upgrade to Rebuke.</DIV>

The error margin on CF and the two HO effects is probably pretty high as there wouldnt have been anywhere near as many castings of these as for the first two nukes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have a suspicion that the App 4 upgrade to Disgrace may well have been broken for a while which is why my previous findings do not match up with my current findings.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Kehi on <span class=date_text>02-22-2005</span> <span class=time_text>01:52 PM</span>

<DIV>I was just going to post about Ad Smite vs Rep Smite, when I saw this thread.  I have both spells at Adept 1 and although I understand the theory that you grow into a spell or get better at using it as you gain more experience using it.  It does not make any sense at all that a "upgrade" orange con spell uses more power but does less damage then a green con spell.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As one poster noted, it really does take the fun out of gaining a level when there is no point in using the spell you get until you level again.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
