<DIV>The book has been out of date as far as stats go for a while, you strength will be fine. my High Elf has never had any problems!</DIV>

You do receive bonuses to Strength as you gain different subclasses. In addition to that, more than enough pieces of equipment do give bonuses to your strength. You should be doing well enough.

To give you a little pointer about weight, my dwarf can carry 4xx (level 34), my breast plate weighes in at 3.5, this is with about 100 str. I can't imagine you having trouble carrying your heavy armor, maybe, just maybe if you filled up on 16 slot backpacks, filled these with breast plates, then you could have issues <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>I only get encumbered when I have a few unclaimed shards. Lucky for me that has only happened once and I got them not long after.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Oh and I get a little encumbered when I sell a lot of stuff and have 10K+ copper on me.</DIV>

It really all depends on the players skill and equipment then the race. I'm a Kerra Templar, weird? Perhaps, but I like what I am and I think I can compare to and out do any same lvl High Elf Templar ya put infront of me! As I said, its the skill and equipment you have that matter, so to the OP, go for the race you like the most! :smileyhappy: <P>Message Edited by DrifterTigra on <SPAN class=date_text>01-28-2005</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>10:16 AM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by DrifterTigra on <span class=date_text>01-28-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:16 AM</span>

<DIV>Right, race doesn't really matter. But you will see a difference between an Iksar or Ogre priest (15 Wisdom base) with a High Elf priest (30 Wisdom base).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyone who tells you that stats will equal out in the end game, isn't there yet, or, I'm not there yet. You can't hit stat cap. So an Ogre priest, in exactly the same gear as a High Elf priest, will have 17 or so less Wisdom at L50. High Elves get a racial trait to increase their wisdom, Ogres don't.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now, 17 Wisdom isn't a <EM>huge</EM> deal, and I used an Ogre as the extreme example (Other races will be far closer). But it will be ~85 power. How much would you kill for an item with 17 wisdom on it? The Ogre starts out missing that 17 wisdom you would die for. Uber-rare items are so uber-rare, that you wont close a 17 wisdom gap by L50. The fact is that High Elves have an advantage, which is fine. Everyone knows at L1 that a High Elf has a higher wisdom, but many people have this obsession with wisdom that is unfounded, as the ability score really doesn't matter that much. For example, I'd pick boots with +12agi +8sta, +36hp/power over LJBoots with +4wis, +24hp/power. That +4 wisdom wont make or break your character's effectiveness.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I myself am a Dark Elf, because that was the race I wanted to play. I found it intriguing to be unique, and I RP as often as Guk server permits. As I generally have superior gear and higher spell levels than any High Elf I compare with, I end up with more power. So yes, it is true that gear and spell levels are more important than starting race. (I actually find myself sacrificing a bit of wisdom now for higher AC and Stamina/HPs, as you can't guarantee <EM>not</EM> getting hit in raids.) Had I been worried about that extra 7 wisdom, I would have rolled a High Elf. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Pick the race you can make a better looking toon for, or think of a cooler name. Most importantly, pick the race you want.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Too many [FaarNerfed!] high elf templars running around. Well, lemme correct myself. Too many [FaarNerfed!] templars running around in general, lol. I don't blame them though, Templars are kickbutt healers. But you know Inquisitors are better. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><p>Message Edited by EnderMX on <span class=date_text>01-28-2005</span> <span class=time_text>02:42 PM</span>

It must be me, but I find my Templar healer does a better job of healing than a few of the Inquisitors I've grouped with under my Tank alt. As Auria said, pick the race you like and looks the best. You'll be stuck with them for a loong time. I prefer elven characters, so I decedied to do the stereotype High Elf Templar and Wood Elf Predator. If you really want to close the WIS gap, I just got Protectorate at lvl 26, and had the Adept1 version ready to scribe from looting. It rasies my WIS and STR by 22 and gives me an additional 100 power to use (876 w/ normal buffs 976 with Protect.) With Courage useless now, I use SoT, Daring, Protec on me and the Tank and Rebuke on the tank. Just pick whatever race you like better. Small differences won't impact your performance if you equip yourself properly, upgrade your spells and get a good group.

I seem to recall having issues with strength at times during the teens - like when I made a strongbox that overburdened me and I was stuck in place (before the patch that allowed overburdened movement) and occasionally when I had collected lots of copper and forgotten to give it to the banker. However, now I could carry a strongbox about with me all the time and not be overburdened. </FONT></DIV>

<DIV>At Level50, the other Level50 Templar on my server has about 100 less power than me and 15-20 less widsom.  He is a Barbarian.  I am High Elf. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>STR is unimportant unless you're missing a few shards - you almost never go overweight unless you have those 100 weight boxes/bags.</DIV>
