Distract AE hits non-encounter mobs and aggros them. How annoying is that....its about the last thing you would want to have happen. Are there any other Templar spells that do this?Tululv24 TemplarQeynos, Najena<p>Message Edited by Moozoo on <span class=date_text>12-27-2004</span> <span class=time_text>08:10 AM</span>

I think I used distract 1 time. Then I saw it's re-use counter and started looking for good tanks instead. Much more reliable.

This spell saved my life last night no doubt about it. The puller in my group pulled a large group of gnolls including a named which were red to me before my reactive heal had finished casting and so the whole group of them started running full pelt in my direction. Luckily we were pulling from quite a distance away so I cast distract sharpish when I saw what was happening and the whole group stopped in their tracks and ran back to the tank <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />.

<DIV>Well it is an AOE spell, like all AOE spells, one must take care when using them and note where mobs are around you so as to avoid aggroing them.  Luckily it does not have a large AOE range so its quite safe.  I have to argue for this spell though because it has saved my life more times than I can remember.  It does have a long reuse timer on it, but look at it this way, If you heal too early in a battle, then you will get aggro and (depending on the mobs) you might well be dead before the MT can regain aggro.  Also if the MT dies, you are the one that they are after next, this is awesome in that you can cast it, then the mobs will forget about you and go after the next person on their aggro list, likely the mage or scout.  This gives you a several second window (maby more situational depending) to get the hell out of there.  It is totally self preservation, don't get me wrong I hate to run, but if our group is going to be pwned by a mob/group of mobs, its much much easier to let a couple members of the group die and me live and revive them, and regroup from there than to take the revive and fight our way back to our shards.  Granted I highly recommend giving all group members a Phoenix Feather from the outset and refreshing anyone who might happen to use one, but this is a good way to prevent that from happening.  </DIV>

The only reason I ever get aggro is because I like to pre BoV or SS(if out of sight) the tank, and sometimes, once in a blue moon, and depending on the pull setup and the pullers style of play, the puller pulls just after the cast starts and just before it lands. Normally the tank taunts them off me or Distract works.I'm just saying I wish I had known about the Distract AE hitting non-encounter mobs before I cast it in CoB in amongst a group of non-aggro mobs (beetles? I dont remember).I believe what happened is we had an add on one of the other group members just before the second BoV or SS landed. The group didnt have a fighter tank or a chanter... So I hit distract after my hps started dropping.Anyway I now know for future.. which brings me back to my original question. Are there any other Templar non-encounter AE spells? Or is it just the distract line I need to worry about.Note Spells like Sign of Weakness are AE in the sense that they hit all mobs in the encounter and the mobs can be spaced out. Sign of Weakness definitly does not affect non-encounter mobs.Actually it would be far nicer if Distract was a short duration buff that dropped mob hate when hit.... But I'm dreaming now hehehTuluLv26 TemplarQeynos, Najena

Our L42 spell, "Resolve" is: "an augmentation that absorbs three attacks on the caster and reduces hate for each of these attacks."</P> <P>It's instant cast, just like Radiance. It's much more useful then Distract itself, because of the added ward benefits. Anyway, something to look forward to <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><BR></P>

<DIV>I rarely ever need to use it too, but like the above poster, once in a blue moon, the tank sneaks in a bow pull in the middle of cast and I get caught  Was goofing around helping the Thundemist gaurds in TS kill the centaur pillagers. Guess I was nuking too hard and agroed a couple so hit distract and agroed the gaurd too!   ROFL.  Had to kill the poor [Removed for Content].  Learned a good lesson though.  Now I know it hits other mobs than the targeted group. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
