View Full Version : Has anyone finished the whole subcalss quest solo?
<DIV>Well, the titel is my question <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV>I was down i the snye and the bloodsaber adepts, specialists and the third one (don´t remember the name) were group cons, I did the adepts solo when i found one up in the Down Below but with the rest of them i was grouped.</DIV>
<DIV>I think its tricky to do solo. Maybe if you had the best armour in the world for L19, Adept 3 BoV etc then you could just about manage it. I remember struggling on the pairs of bloodsabers that jump you in VS at that level. However, I'd recommend finding a partner (maybe another cleric) and things will go a lot better.</DIV>

<DIV>the only part that really needs a grp (or 1 21 plus) is running to sir wembley's room for final battle. beaucoup nasty green cons on the way to the final fight instance. with a lvl 21 plus in grp, u can run solo right past them as they will all con grey and then drop grp right before u activate instance</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I did the whole thing solo at 18/19. None of my spells are above Adept 1 and I only had like 2 of them. My armor was average quested stuff for my lvl, mostly ok Light Armor and I was only using the Summoned food since I was just doing simple city quests. I ran around the Down Below for quite a while, just doing random things (like getting access to see Fippy!) amongst other things, and I kept getting jumped by the Bloodsabers. Most were blue or green usally with down arrows and always in pairs. It was annoying because I was constantly getting jumped, but I was working on other quests, not paying attention and I got all 3 pieces that I needed. Getting to the final instanced zone was cake, I went straight there, everything was gray on the way.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Edit: Just use your HOs and heal as needed, I usually had 40%+ power or so at the end of the battles, only sucked when I would exit one battle, take a few steps, then get attacked by them again. If you don't have a group, but have a bit of time, I suggest the down below. Just takes awhile to get attacked by the ones you need, as which ones they are is random. Though I noticed more Adepts down there than anything else. Only saw 2 specialists in 2+ hours and luckily one had my scroll apparently.</DIV> <P><SPAN class=time_text></SPAN> </P><p>Message Edited by Gobbwin on <span class=date_text>12-20-2004</span> <span class=time_text>07:07 AM</span>

You can just wander the sewers (1st level) and the bloodsabers will spawn on you. Don't have to be in the lower levels of the sewers. They are easy to kill solo mobs (2 at a time). The only problem with doing it solo is getting TO the pocket zone on the last part. I did it fairly easily because there was a group camping the skeletons just past the green square oozey things. So yes, it's easily solo-able.
<DIV>I soloed it. FYI as stated above, the Down Below has the same bloodsabers and they are so easy compared to the VS mobs. I actually got a map of VS so I knew where the instanced zone was, so I just sprinted through.</DIV>

<DIV>Three shards later, I had a "mentor" run VS with me right to the door of the subclass quest. Gotta say the combat once inside the instance has been the best I've seen in-game. Good times.</DIV>

<DIV>Was hearing all sorts of horror stories about the Templar quest, one friend had died 3 or 4 times during it, so I was leary of tackling it solo.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Waited until I was lvl 19 +198% exp, and everything was cake. Aggro bloodsabers spawn on me, good for random chests and fun combat <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. Grey mobs all they way to the Instanced zone, and once inside, the encounters were green / blue. Boss was green and went down in 4 spells ... HO+smite +radiant strike + HO + Smite + radiant Strike ... granted I had Adept 3 Radiant Strike at the time <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> all in all was really fun and not nearly as scary as I had been led to believe.</DIV>

<DIV>I think the problem for the people that have a lot of hassle with it is that they tend to go into it without any concept that it may be hard - after all the level 10 Hallmark wasn't.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>People that have had the benefit, as I did, of hearing from others that it was hard or they died many times tend to build themselves up a bit before doing it ie. get at least level 19, and possibly upgrade some gear - and most important go in expecting to be hard so are better prepared mentally I think <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The "blas'e" approach is the only danger in this quest <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>Yep .. expect the worst, and that way you will either be right, or pleasantly surprised.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I was all butterflies in the stomach when I started out, and when it was done, I was like .. Thats it? wow...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If I had to do it all over again, I would probably do it exactly the same way... better to be over prepared than under prepared.</DIV>

<DIV>I think it would be pretty darn hard to do solo. I know I had to get help to do it... at least to do it in any reasonable time frame. Had 2 other priest types in group doing same quest too. Running to the instance zone was the easy part - I found a way there without spawning any of the bloodsabers, rest were all grey mobs.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I think subclass quests are very unbalanced. My dirge's quest was the easiest thing I have ever done... all completely solo with no killing mobs involved at all. Then I hit the templar quest and thought it was unfair in comparison. Really, a quest that everyone *must* do in order to advance shouldn't be difficult or require grouping at all. The instance zone part was fine but the bloodsaber part needs work. And omg how many adepts do you have to slaughter for one silly part? My betrayal quest was easier, I swear :smileytongue:</DIV>
<DIV>I finished mine solo the other evening as a Level 19.</DIV> <DIV>I started the quest at Level 18 and yes the killing of sabres was difficult - but it certainly isn't impossible with the right combination of melee and spells, exactly how you should be operating as a Priest anyway.</DIV> <DIV>I did a lot of Bloodsabre killing in DB rather than VS as the mobs are weaker there.</DIV> <DIV>Maybe I was just lucky but the parts of the letter dropped really quickly - I hit DB, had two sabres spawn on me and I had the first part I needed to find off my first MOB.</DIV> <DIV>I was level 19 before I was going to Sir. Wembley's instance, this made the majoirty of things in VS grey to me which meant that only a few green mobs were hassle on the way.</DIV> <DIV>In fact the staircase leading up to the instance had 3 single green skeleton's in whcih was the most hassle I had on the way to the instance.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Once inside it was all logic.</DIV> <DIV>Wait until the burning mob was close to me and throw a spell at it and backup slightly.</DIV> <DIV>Killed him in combat and then waited for the majority of my power to re-gen.</DIV> <DIV>Ran down the middle of the first <SPAN>corridor and that meant that not one of the blue mobs on either side of me was agrro.</SPAN></DIV> <DIV><SPAN>Turned the corner to find the 3 guards and my target, dodged the 3 guards and went straight for the main target and dropped him.</SPAN></DIV> <DIV><SPAN>Then I concentrated on the guards, took 2 of them out for the xp (as once your main target dies you've completed it) and then used the back door before the 3rd guard could kill me.</SPAN></DIV> <DIV><SPAN></SPAN> </DIV> <DIV><SPAN>That was it, quest over and then I spent last night at Level 19 in TS with my guild where I got to level 20 and I'm now a Templar.</SPAN></DIV> <DIV><SPAN>It can be done solo - just takes a lot mroe time I'm afraid, but it's far from impossible and some of my equipment I'm still using is quite dire.</SPAN></DIV>

<DIV>I finished it solo at level 19. The hardest part I had was getting the letters (took forever to get that last one for some odd reason). I didn't go to VS, but chose instead to run around the Down Below and let them spawn on me. I did get quite a few chests and some nice books. The fights are very easy, even with the quested armor that I was wearing (sure was glad to upgrade that stupid Leatherfoot Helmet upon hitting 20 <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> ).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As for the final fight, I ran all the way to the instance zone alone. It just takes a little patience and waiting for the aggro mobs (some are still green at 19) to move out of the way so you can scurry past them. I did have to fight a few blue skeletons on the way up the stairs to the instance zone, but that was more for fun than necessity. Once inside, I waited for the wandering mob to get close then took him out like anything else. Then, I worked my way through all of the other spawns (come 2 at a time). I figured they were extra xp sitting there, and I wanted to clear the zone. The wandering mob spawned again, but the others didn't. The final fight was a bit of a disappointment to me, since he was immensly easier to kill than the wandering mob.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When I went back to Aurora I dinged 20 and could equip my treebranch <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Hope that helps.</DIV>
<DIV>As I mentioned above, getting the specialist was the tough part for me. I did run around down below for a bit and got the other ones, but I never got a specialist to spawn down there. I guess I just assumed that it didnt spawn - but it appears that its maybe just a rare spawn. Hence, I finally gave up and got a friend to help me get the specialists in VS.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The pairs of bloodsabers that spawn in VS are green ^'s which are tough. I could kill one easily, and if I recall I would usually be out of mana before the second was dead and had to melee it to death. I seem to remember more than once running to the zone border when trying to solo these. I believe the pairs in DB are blue and white v's which were pretty easy.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The instance was pretty easy as people have mentioned. Just run in, kill stuff and leave. Although there was a group of 3 that looked like it may get tricky, but it all turned out fine in the end.</DIV>

<DIV>I think this is one of the best put-together quests that I've experience in the game. You can definitely solo it, but if you screw around or don't know how to play you can die pretty easily. The trickiest part for me was carefully moving through the skellies in the maze on the way to the final quest door in VS. But since the mobs in your path can be soloed (barely) at 19 it was hard enough to be challenging without being frustrating.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In fact I would urge clerics who like a challenge to solo this, because I found it very rewarding to do it that way.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Rhodric</DIV> <DIV>22 Templar</DIV> <DIV>28 Armorer</DIV> <DIV>Innothule</DIV>
