Check with Ian Cathlan in Qeynos Harbor. He's in the part of town with the clock.

Better yet, go to the broker and do a search for some real crafted armor and drop a couple gold. You have now two choices: run around picking up groups that are doing "/ooc healer needed for AQ#" and getting relatively lousy groups where the tanks are in completely in-appropriate armor for the next 5 levels OR joining XP groups, getting real XP and passing that magical level at which the quest armor is useless anyway in about the same time it would take you to get your quest armor finished.
Lol Trorion, spoken like a true armor smith. Please listen to him though. I really need to sell all this pristine carbonite stuff i been making.
<DIV>Ive been wondering what to replace my AQ armor with. What to you guys make thats a step up?</DIV>

The level 20 carbonite pristine is a step up from your AQ stuff. The feysteel puts you up even further.I am not an armor smith though, I'm a jeweler. If you don't believe me then watch your good and bad tanks. the bad ones are wearing AQ and the good ones are wearing crafted armor. This game has more to armor class than just the AC, it includes the level of the armor vs the level of the opponent. If your opponent is above your armor then they can more easily get through it.I can't prove that statement but I believe it without hesitation. Also, I have yet to run into an equal level templar that has the same power pool as me. I wear only difficult quest or player crafted gear. I know that there ARE templars, druids, shamans with better power than I but they are the exception not the norm.On my server a full set of crafted armor runs less than 10 gold. Thats 10g for a full set. It's worth it. I know some people don't have 10g but if you save up money and shop wisely you will find it.And at 24 you can start wearing crude jewelry that will take you almost to 40th level and I suspect the same with Feysteel.

<DIV>The crafted stuff also happens to look a hell of a lot better than 'teh ugleh' AQ armor <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Having said that I do wear it at moment, but I bought a full set of pristine carbonite stuff first at level 20.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Even if you do the AQ's you're going to be wearing old crappy armor while doing it unless you buy some decent armor. The pristine carbonite gear looks nice and is a huge step up from your pre-20 stuff (max light armor), and when you finish your AQ's you can then sell it on to the next player to recover most cost anyway. Although the selling on part doesn't help the armorer tradeskillers very much, but then that's one of the flaws in the current system which personally I think needs to be addressed. Tradeskill item based economies with no permanent decay will end up with deflated prices and high supply with little demand.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now that the feysteel armor has been mentioned and I'm nearing 29 it's inspired me to start looking to shed some of this awful looking AQ armor in place of some shiny new stuff <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>
<DIV>I got about 40G. Perhaps I should start shopping for the Feysteel then it sounds.</DIV>

<DIV>I checked last night and it seems Faysteel is Medium armor from what I can tell. The heavy armor equivalent appears to be Feyiron - which at almost 29 is orange to me, which is the right level, but most pieces seem to be selling for about 7~10 gold per piece.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Not an unreasonable price, but I guess I won't be able to get a full set immediately. For the most part it should be a good ugprade, but I may want to wait till level 30, because although the stats seem to be higher than the AQ's armor stats, it seems the AC is still slightly lower at my current level. Once the armor goes yellow instead of orange I think it'll be a nice upgrade.</DIV>
<DIV>FYI I was looking at this moore. Feysteel and Feyiron are both just types of armor, there are heavy and medium versions of both however. I've seen Feysteel Plate and Feyiron plate, the medium version has 'brigandine' or something like that in the title. To add more confusion there are mutliple levels of quality. Like regular, pristine, etc. Each one has different stats a little bit, mostly the highest amount of AC they can give.</DIV>

<DIV>I still haven't seen any Feyiron medium or Feysteel heavy selling myself, but it seems to make some sense. I did notice though that the best looking armor is possibly going to be Pristine Forged Feyiron Xxxx pieces. Only problem is the cheapest I've seen them for so far (probably because they're the only ones in existence) for breasplates are 12 gold per piece, which is still pretty expensive.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Problem is it's not really worth upgrading to anything below pristine forged, because the [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] Hearth Forged (AQ) armor is better stats wise. Even with the pristine forged feyiron the AQ armor is still better on a couple of stats, and only slightly worse on others. The AC that the player made armor will give those is significantly better at the right level, but actually lower while it's still orange.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Personally I think it's crazy that armor as easy to get as the AQ armor is is such good quality. Makes the 3rd tier crafted armor only good temporarily at best, and 4th tier not worthwhile until a fairly high level. </DIV>

I completely disagree. Your armor (much like an encounter mob) has a level. I've seen over and over where 2 equal tanks with comprable AC where 1 is wearing blue con armor and 1 yellow con armor and the one in blue con armor gets ripped to shreds while the 1 in yellow con armor holds up like a champ.Start inspecting your tanks before you pull. You'll notice that player crafted armor tanks do better than equivalent AQ tanks. Also, don't look past the crude, shaped and forged armors. Sometimes shaped will have more wisdom than pristine. As far as feyIRON and feySTEEL I believe 1 is a rare harvest attunable armor while the other is a common harvest tradeable armor.

<DIV>I hope you're right about the level of the armour mattering. Be good to get some harder facts on it though. If it's true, then the question does have to be asked - what the hell is the point of the AC stat in the first place? And also, if comparable AC becomes less worthwhile why don't the other stats such as wisdom, power, hp etc.?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>On the feyiron/feysteel thing, regardless of crafted, dropped or rare etc. I still haven't seen anything to suggest that feyiron is anything but heavy armor and feysteel is anything but medium armor... have never seen a heavy feysteel or a medium feyiron yet still in the brokers.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Nice point about the shaped versus pristine though, I hadn't realised or thought that was possible before. I'll have to have another look and see if I can find an example of that...</DIV><p>Message Edited by Kikmaidog on <span class=date_text>12-28-2004</span> <span class=time_text>09:02 AM</span>
