Curious about Acolyte

Has anyone here yet acquired the 45th spell 'Holy Acolyte'? Just curious about its function. Is it a pet or is it just a companion like a familiar? If it is just a companion, wouldn't it be nice to have that spell (perhaps as a fun spell) earlier in the game?Xiasi 28th Templar Permafrost
