<DIV>So, I got bravery tonight. I wasn't expecting much from it as I have daring adept 1 and I can't say I was surprised, but it's still weird.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Stats with daring adept 1 (no other buff) - 1409 HP, 1202 power, 1876 AC</DIV> <DIV>Stats with bravery app2 (no other buff) - 1413 HP, 1230 power... 1752 AC</DIV> <DIV>Stats with both - 1413 HP, 1230 power, 1876 AC</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm pretty confused... What kind of upgrade gives more HPs and power but 104 less AC? I expected everything to be lower, but this is just too weird.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Opinions? I am wondering how much AC bravery will give next level, but for now I will stick to daring I think.</DIV>

<DIV>Well you have adept 1 in daring and you've mastered it as far as skill goes.  So Bravery isn't really much of an upgrade until you've gotten adept 1 or app3 in it and mastered that skill wise.  I know you've hashed over this before with supplicant's prayer.  And any other spell "upgrade".  Maybe we shouldn't think of getting new spells as upgrades.  But getting a newer spell that, if well trained, (levelling up and upgrading the spell) will ultimately, but not immediately, be the best.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It's the nature of the system at the moment.  Every spell class has to deal with it.  I'm indifferent on the subject.  I'll just use whatever spell is best at the time.  Until I've levelled up a bit and upgraded my new spell.  It IS strange that app2 Bravery gives slight increases over adept1 daring in all but AC though.  Maybe it gets really good once mastered?</DIV>

It looks like, with both on, you have everything, what's the problem? Some spells are slated as upgrades, but in reality they're only additions to former ones. I don't think you should put anything into them being upgrades, until trying out if they stack with the one they're surposed to upgrade.

<DIV>My problem is, I don't have concentration slots to waste by having to use the former version of a spell with the upgrade.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm totally aware that the AC buff will increase in a few levels, and I'm not worried about it. I just find it weird that an upgrade gives more HP and power, but less AC.</DIV>

I tend to think of it this way: If it isn't specifically stated in the "Examine" of a spell that this is an upgrade, well, then it's just an alternative or addition to a former one. Where did you find that one should be an upgrade to another?

<DIV>Um it has the same description, so it's pretty easy to assume.</DIV>

<DIV>Personally I don't buy into the "you mastered the previous spell so the one you just got as a upgrade is gonna be worse" mentality.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you have an adept3 version of a spell but then get a upgrade to it I "personally" would expect the new one to be better. Have the devs really said one way or another on this? If so where?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Bravery certainly looks to have some odd effects regardless.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

I don't mind if my adept 3 is better than my new app1, but app1s of a spell upgrade (or at least app2s) should definitely be better than the adept 1 of a previous spell.</P> <P>To come back to the subject though, I just think it's weird that it gives more HP and power, but less AC. I'll have to see how better it gets next level.</P>

<DIV>Ok at 35, bravery still buffs for 100 less AC than daring <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>
