I'm trying to build a one-stop guide for the Templar subclass, and I need your help! Included so far is a complete spell list, methods for grouping & soloing, complete hallmark quest info for cleric and templar, information on several quests I've found to be particularly worthwhile (including post-20 armor quests), and some other goodies. Please take a look, and let me know of any changes or additions you'd like to see! If you'd prefer not to post on here or on the site, email me directly <a href="mailto:
[email protected]" target=_blank>here.</a>You can find The Total Templar class guide <a href="http://eq2.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&file=index&func=display&ceid=15&meid=56" target=_blank>here</a>at eq2.tentonhammer.com!Thanks in advance for your input!<p>Message Edited by Couriant on <span class=date_text>12-06-2004</span> <span class=time_text>01:37 PM</span>

Excelent guide! Got through my templar quest as soon as i reached 18... I think I was 18 and 8% by the time I had collected all the scrolls and went for the instanced encounter - even though I took a bit more time than I should the tips you provided in the guide kept me alive and win through!Though there's one thing I might add, maybe it was just me, but I ran back to the door I came through and to my horror couldn't exit the instance! The exit is actually through the door in the wall behind the altar. As a lvl 18 the mobs were conning yellow for the wandering skeleton, and white for the group of skeletons. The guy behind the altar was yellow though was pretty weak comparitively and I had to go fight him with only 30% mana and won pretty easily (remembering to use the debuffs as stated in the guide!)Cant rate these tips high enough!Cheers!

Thank you for your generous comments thus far. I've made a number of updates to the guide itself based on your input so far; I update it (at least) weekly. <a href="http://eq2.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&file=index&func=display&ceid=15&meid=56" Target=_New>Click here to see</a> if you're new to the guide or haven't visited in a while.I wanted to mention that I'd added a section on where folks have been finding Adept I drops. If you've found one recently that I haven't mentioned, please <a href=mailto:"
[email protected]" target=_blank>let me know</a> so I can add the info and credit you! I'm always interested in hearing new tips too if you'd like to share what you know on how you max out your Temps potential! Thanks, and keep in touch!

<DIV>Your section on symbols vs shields mentions that Templars can use bucklers or round shields. Is this correct? I thought we only get bucklers. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>You list Disgrace ans the upgrade of Rebuke. This is only partially correct. Both reduce target AC, but Rebuke debuffs Divine Mitigation and Disgrace debuffs Arcane Resistance.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I didn't notice an explanation of our 3 solo HO events and the dozen or so possible combination HO's I've seen in group combat, but I was just skimming and may have missed it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Does anyone still use Courage if they have Daring? Seems to me both shouldn't be used together. If Courage is cast first you get a lower defense bonues and Daring won't stack or replace the poorer value. If you cast Daring first you get a better defense bonus but Courage doesn't seem to do anything except waste a concentration slot when cast after Daring. At level 28, I use Dating, Symbol of Transal, Redoubt and Protecorate. This leaves me with a spot for to Redoubt the tank. If grouping with another Templar, I have them use those buffs, then use all my concentration for Redoubt on Myself and the rest of the party, except for one slot which I keep for Protectorate on me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Guide is very informative. Could have really used it about a month ago, but I've made it this far without dying TOO much, hehe. I will look at it more extensively when I am not playing. Hope you keep it updated as you gain more info. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks for your hard work.</DIV>
A minor note that might be worth adding. In a group the Templar should generally have the MT targertted anyway, rather than the mob, but if you are just fighting a single mob it may seem like it doesn't matter whether you have the mob or tank targetted, as the heals and debuffs / nukes go to the intended target either way. However, one thing I have noticed is that the health bar of your target is updated more frequently, or is more accurate, than the health bar in the group member list. This means that if you target the mob for any reason and rely on the MTs health bar in the group window, you are getting slightly out of date information. The MTs health could actually be in the red while its still being displayed as orange or yellow. So, just one more reason to keep the MT targetted rather than the mob.

So I have both symbol spells up and they do both stack but that is only an option if you took that training spell.</DIV>

Arcane is a mental, magic, and divine stat so it includes the previous Disgrace's debuff, and expands on it. Enchanters can mez better, wizards can nuke better... heck even priests can nuke/debuff easier with it. What a nice spell!<BR></P>

<DIV>So, Disgrace's Arcane Mitigation includes Divine? Excellent. I am going to assume they don't stack? No way to tell reall since no way to check mob stats. Am removing Rebuke from Hot Bar, thanks!</DIV>

<DIV>What??</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So, Divine mitigation only effects Divine but Arcane effects Mental, Magic and Divine?? Discrace IS an upgrade to Rebuke? That does explain why they share the same icon as I mentioned and why I never see Adept versions of Rebuke anywhere.</DIV>

So was I correct that Disgrace is an upgrade to Rebuke?Upgrade (to me) means that it does everything Rebuke does and then some <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />I'll put some detail of this thread into the spell list so that its a little clearer. Thanks for the good discussion!
