View Full Version : Level 20 Templar Class Quest - Spoiler - Detailed
I completed the quest a couple of nights ago and thought I'd create a little "Tips" post. Most of these tips can be found by several other people in various posts in this forum. I took some of their knowledge and some of my own to complete the quest.Prep: Make sure you have a decent melee weapon. Also, you will not be able to bring friends. You'll check your friends at Sir Wembly's door. Make sure you have some food and are under its influence for power regen. I was able to start and complete it at level 18. Rumor has it that it's been changed to a minimum of 19. The quest starter, Aurora, can be found down the stairs and to the left inside the Temple of Life in North Qeynos. Top left of the map, near the exit to Elddar Grove. The entrance can be tricky to find. And you might get confused when you actually *do* find it. It looks *just* like the area you land in when you first come into the zone. When you find the door, I was not able to double click it. I had to right click and select the option to enter. From memory, the method I used was to go down the lower corridor, take the 2nd left into the skeleton library room and head in a straight line. You'll eventually head back into a cave looking corridor that twists and turns. I placed a reactive heal on myself when I entered the library and then just did a normal run through - no sprint.Landing zone is not hot. The room is L shaped, and turns to the left of what you initially see. You'll see a flaming skeleton that roams. You'll also see two walls with collapsed skeletons waiting for you. Ignore those skeletons along the wall. They did not aggro me at level 18, but I wouldn't get too close to them, either.I found that the best method for taking out the walker is to *only* use melee on him, and reactive heal yourself as needed. You're not in a rush to kill *this one*. Take your time. You want to be as full of power as you possibly can for the next battle. You'll need it all. Rebuking him would probably be ok. Also, recent changes have made him resist alot of magical spells. After the walker is dead, run down the middle and head to the back corner. You'll see 3 more flaming skeletons that are grouped. These are not nearly as hard as the first guy. Kill them any way you see fit. But do it quick. That first walker is on a 5 min respawn timer. I managed to kill them in 4 minutes, but I'm sure many of you could do much better. When those three are dead, look at the named mob. See the selectable door next to him? Head to the back corner nearest to that door. The named mob did not aggro me here. The first walker will probably respawn pretty soon, but this corner is safe from him. Rest. Gain all of your power back. The named mob is a caster. Loves to cast. Other than that, he's pretty weak.Upon his death, head back to NQ and collect your prize! Well done, Templar!
<DIV>I found it was a better safety precaution to pull the group of 3 back to the front, in case the wanderer spawned again. I actually had to kill him and the group of 3 twice, before I managed to get in the corner. I used HO's like crazy (one the wanderer and group of three), but found on the last one I would be out of mana and have to melee him down and used bestowal of vitae and minor heal on myself. I waited until my mana was 60% and then I ran into the corner near the selectable door and the name attacked me right away. I didn't have to heal myself at all with him, he cast but they were pretty weak spells. I think I used about 2 or 3 HOs and then cast and melee until he fell. The group of three did respawn on me while I was fighting him, but since I was in the corner they didn't aggo.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I couldn't do this at lvl 18, but at lvl 19 once I worked out a system it was pretty easy. I also went out and bought new assosories with plus wisedom. Worst thing about this is that the skelies can resist your divine casts. So at times you had to recast smite/radiant strike over and over until it took hold. First time I went in at lvl 18 I didn't know they were resisitng and thought my HOs weren't working. A lvl 18 shaman and lvl 18 druid I went with went through first time with no trouble at all. The shaman even killed the collapsed skelies just for xp.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyway good advice Stip, wish it was there when I went through mine. </DIV>

<DIV>It took me but a few minutes to do this part of the quest. Use the HO wheel, it's your friend! I reactive healed myself, killed the wandering skelly. I regained full power, cast BOV on myself and ran straight for the named mob. all 3 of the skellies will be beating on you, but they don't hit hard. I used the HO wheel to kill the named mob, then zoned out. DONE. you don't have to kill the 3 skellies protecting the named. It was actually a lot easier than I anticipated. Keep in mind I did this quest when I was 19.</DIV>

OK, the first time I did this, I killed the pairs laying down, then the walker. By this time, the laydowns started to respawn and at a higher level.I moved to a corner and waited for mana to regen, then took on the 3 skellies... I was doing GREAT till the yellow walker respawned and joined the party.Even then, I killed the last of the three and had the walker down to half life before I died (OOM)... this is a VERY HARD heritage quest, don't take it lightly reading these posts.I wouldn't count on the laydowns not aggroing... my second attempt failed because I believed someone who said they don't aggro if you run past them. I ended up at with 5 yellow con skellies on me, second death.I haven't been back to do it again. I'm wondering if I'll even bother... I may just reroll to pallie.
<DIV>I'll add my experience to the pile!<BR></DIV> <DIV>I was at L19. All my defence and offence skills were near max and all my spells were at least app 3 - some were Adept 1.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I zoned in, the entrance wasnt hot. White ^ if I remember correctly. I pull with a Rebuke, and start firing off my two main nukes coupled with a HO. Between HO refresh I landed a weakness and a pawn. He went down pretty fast - used maybe half my mana up. I dont think I even needed a heal, but I may have BoVed prior to the fight.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Then it was the group of 3 blues. These were tricky as they take a significant amount of mana to kill each one, and I was very close to running out of mana during the fight. I think I had to BoV towards the end too.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Then there was the named one. What a joke! I had expected some kind of fight - but he went down like a pack of cards. The HO dual nuke combo worked a treat and I think he barely even hit me. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Respawns? Not likely, I was in and out in maybe 4 mins. I was quite surprised how easy it seemed considering all the posts I'd seen about it being hard.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

How did you get the four skellies in the first part to not aggro you? I'm missing that here. They're aggro and they definitely get up and attack... either you guys are not mentioning them or you have some invisibility spell I missed somehow on the grind up to 19.

<DIV>Here's what I did, it's a little different but it works.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Wait until the flaming skellie gets to the farthest end of the room and he starts walking to the left a bit (towards the named mob). Run straight down the middle (as to not agro the skellies laying down). Run into the right corner, pull the flaming skelly and kill him there. This location is safe you will not agro the laying down skellies or the other 3 before the named.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>After you kill the flamer, med up or if you are ready pull the next three, kill them as fast as you can. You may need to pull them closer to the named in order to avoid agro if the flamer pops again.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>After you kill them, go for the boss, then zone out.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Food buffs work great here, as well as harmonious mind if you have it. Having a good melee weapon is HIGHLY recommended, it will help you kill the mobs faster.</DIV>

When soloing, using HO's adds a bunch of extra damage (and possibly other bonuses or power regen if you're lucky) to your nukes. It's pretty simple to do this -</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>* Trigger the "chain" by using your start trigger (Divine Providence)</DIV> <DIV>* Cast a nuke (either Admonishing Smite or Radiant Strike - RS being the more effective against undead)</DIV> <DIV>* You'll now have a HO wheel with only one step to complete. If it's a normal wheel you'll need another 'anvil' (hammer) action which is a nuke again - once again either AS or RS - which will give you either a divine judgement (a full nuke's damage bonus or so) or an inspiring piety (adds some bonus to inspiration skill for a few minutes in addition to the damage you do), or if you hit the rare HO will be a 'cup' (chalice) action, which is your combat healing/minor healing etc. spells. That will give you a cool power regen for a few minutes, which is gold when solo <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For me the way I did this was pull the walker with a nuke to the door and kill - rest up to full power. Pull the lying down skelly dual groups one at a time (with a nuke again) to the door and kill each group, resting to full power after each one. By then the walker will be spawned again - kill it again. Then you can kill the group of 3 in safety as you should have enough time to do that without the walker respawning. Rest - and while you're resting, there's a good chance the walker will respawn one more time. Kill it, then rest up proper to take on the final guy - which should actually be pretty easy if you went in with full power/hp.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That way is possibly the slowest way to do it, and I think I killed the walker once more than I needed to, but it was safe, and I got through the instance first time with no death, and I got xp for killing every one of the mobs in the instance <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> You can never be too patient when soloing <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV><p>Message Edited by Kikmaidog on <span class=date_text>12-01-2004</span> <span class=time_text>03:29 PM</span>

<DIV>I completed this last night, on my first try, thanks to reading this board <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I chose to pull the walker to the entrance door, killed him slowly, pulled the group of 3 to the door, killed them slowly, killed the walker one more time, then bolted for the corner behind the named, rested, and took him on when ready. For the named, I simply debuffed, healed, and meleed til he was out of power, then I unleashed with my HO's. He was a lot easier than the skeletons. I did this at level 19, with friends escorting me to the door so that I wouldn't have to fight my way through Vermin's Snye. Good luck all you fellow Templars out there!</DIV>

<DIV>I did this last night after truning 19 and choosing to fight my way through each encounter for xp reasons. My health was never a problem, but getting drink to regen your power faster might be helpful.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I ignored the walker at first, and did the 3 pairs, killed the walker and ran to the back corner to rest up. I killed the last set of 3, and while resting the walker spawned on top of me. I beat him up trying to conserve power, rested up, and attacked the boss. I pulled the boss to one of the corners behind him, and in the middle of killing him the three spawned again. They didn't agro me, but I had a lot of my power left and started walking around behind looking at stuff and they jumped me. While taking them out the walker spawned again, but I decided to leave him alone and port out.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I walked through vermin's snye to the point where there are a bunch of skeletons that are still green to a level 19, then i sprinted all the way to the entrance. I never looked back but I was likely pulling a train of at least 20 behind me <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>Could someone please expand on the trip through VS? I have died twice trying to get to this crypt. The green ^ bloodsabers are still spawning on me as I try to get through plus there are the rooms full of ^ undead or ^ cubes. </DIV> <DIV>Level 19 cleric btw. I can only sometimes manage to kill the bloodsabers solo. I tried sprinting through but I just got lost and things got worse.</DIV> <DIV>Nobody has mentioned the bloodsabers. Has there been a change? Is my quest bugged?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Smorgasbord - Nektulos</DIV>

<DIV>hmm that's kinda weird, I was able to navigate through VS at level 19 without aggroing a single thing. No bloodsabers popped on me either. Did you speak to Aurora for the 2nd time to get the quest to search for Sir Wimbley?</DIV>
Mondaal

<DIV>So the bloodsaber thing isn't normal? Yes I did talk to Aurora the second time and have the Sir Wembly quest.</DIV> <DIV>If there servers are back up I'll be trying again to get there as I recover my latest shard.</DIV>
<DIV>As suggested above, walking down the middle of the hall means you wont pull the skele's on either side. I was a little cautious as I approached them just in case, but I didnt pull them so I just continued on through.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>HOs are important for any kind of soloing. Kikmaidog described nicely how to use them. All I would like to add is that you should use both nukes as you can cast the second whilst the first is still refreshing. The HO usually does about the same damage as a nuke - hence multiplies your nuke damage by 1.5 effectively.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you solo regularly, have reasonable equipment and have all your spells at App 3 or better, then you probably shouldnt have any problems with this quest. If you almost always group, then your defence and parry skills are probably not as high as they should be, hence you may have issues. Also if you dont excercise your nukes and debuffs elsewhere to get the skills they use up to maximum, then once again you may have trouble (resists).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, I dont think your weapon makes a lot of difference. I did virtually no damage at all with my weapon - I used nukes all the time.<BR></DIV>

<DIV>well I wouldn't go as far as saying it isn't normal, I was probably just lucky running through it. there's a link to the map of Vermin's Snye that helped me navigate through the area. let me see if I can find it</DIV>

Down the hall a little bit 2 bloodsabers spawned on me as usual. I decided to run rather than fight. zoned out, zoned back in and they were at their spawn points. I sprinted past them, not sure if they followed me or not. </DIV> <DIV>When I got to the room it was full of grouped green aggro bloodsabers. I kept sprinting. The hallway south is full of green aggro skeletons. Not sure how many ^ they had. I made it to the door just after sprint ran out and I couldn't click it or right click it or anything so I have another shard to recover.</DIV> <DIV>Am I in the right zone?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Smorgasbord - Nektulos</DIV>

<DIV>I died loads of times trying to get to the Haven to do that section, in the end I found sticking to the HO combo and BoV kept me alive well enough to deal with the 2 bloodsabers that kept popping on me. I did die now and then and eventually decided to just /yell each time they jumped me. With my health and mana regenerating the fights we're easy as pie.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I used the map listed on a post or two up from here to get there.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Once into the haven it was stupidly easy. Kill the walker. Smite the first of the 6 mobs on the table and kill the pair, then the second pair, then the third. Walked through and rested. Walker appeared so I killed him again. The three blues actually bothered me less then the green^ pairs that had been spawning on me in VS so I just HO smited'd them to death. The Named was a simple fight, cast something on me that stopped me casting on him for a few seconds and I started to worry, but it wore off and I kicked his posterior.</DIV>

I just hoofed it myself...apparently the undead in that part of the zone don't move much from their spawn points. I have to say, the even-con mobs in that instance are the WEAKEST even cons I've ever encountered. I've fought greenies tougher than them. (Or maybe I always take on group greenies? I'm not sure.) BUt yes, ran to corner in L, engaged flaming wanderer, got full power back, ran to named, smacked it down, zoned. I could have stuck around to get XP from the rest, but the even-con didn't give much XP, so I figured I'd be better off getting back to my group. Now I just need to ding 20. <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />AND fwiw I rather like the blessed club. You were right... kill the walker, then regen, then kill the group of three, regen, then kill the named, you're done. Walk carefully between the laydown skellies in the first hall and they won't aggro. This was MUCH MUCH easier at 19 than it was at 18.

<DIV>You can do this instance easily and only have to kill 2 mobs. Wait untill the wanderer is at furthest point...the corner of the L. Run quickly down centre, and you will not aggro the 6 skells lying down. Engage and kill the wanderer, then rest to get power up. Around 'the bend' there are 3 fiery skellies, a desk with an untargettable named and a door to zone out. When fully rested run past the 3 skellies, around the desk and kill the named...the named will die quickly. Then simply zone out, job done.</DIV>

My technique was to pull the white (at 19th) solo skeleton to me at the door and nuke him back into oblivion, then proceed down the middle of the hallway to the far end and into the far corner from the three blue (at 19th) group skeletons and the sleepers. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>From there I rested up the one bar of power I used and pulled the three to me killing them with little to no effort: BoV yourself first for the free heals and use your Radiant Strike as it does bonus damage to undead critters.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>After that it was a simple matter of walking up to the white (at 19th) named mob and calling down a little god onto him... I think I HO'd him twice and he was dead.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>One note, you cannot target the white (at 19th) named mob until the three grouped blue skeletons are engaged in combat.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

I'm too lazy to read this entire thread, but let me just say I did this 18 with ease. I killed the wandering skeleton. Then skipped the next two set of mobs by walking down the center of the hallway. Killed the 3 skel group, then the main guy. A 19 cleric and myself made it to the instance zone without even breaking a sweat. I was a little disapoint in how easy it was.

<DIV>bump, for the same reason I bumped last time. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>
<DIV>So, I am doing a little research to give my brother the heads up on his Templar subclass quest and I find your walkthrough here. Good information but is this all there is to it? Go to the dungeon in Vermin Snye and fight your way through?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Where exactly in Vermin Snye is the dungeon instance? The Interesting painting? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Might be good information for the walkthrough <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It there a reward for comepleting the quest? Monks get a new whackin stick, Defilers get a new Hamma, do Templars get a weapon as part of the deal?<BR></DIV>

<DIV>All App 1 spells, fairly poor armor, lvl 19. I did this without dying. I followed the original post suggestions with no problems. Took out wanderer, then three blue- mobs, them main mob.</DIV>
<DIV>I did this at 18.9x and actually got level 19 while in the instanced zone. I cleared the sleeping/collapsed skeletons on the sides first by pulling them with a spell (e.g. rebuke), then once all of them were gone, I did the wandered in the middle. I took it in that order exactly because I was on the verge of hitting 19, and I knew once I dinged 19, the walking guy would go from yellow to white con. :smileyhappy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hmm... i didn't know there were any respawns in the zone. If I had, I might have camped the skeletons until level 20 cause they seemed to be good XP. :smileywink:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Terdrigar is absolutly correct. I did the final tonight at level 10 all adep 1 spells.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Waited until the solo broke left on his walk away from zone in. Walked straight down the middle and broke right at the end so as to not aggro the threesome. When the solo started walking back he aggroed on me and I blasted him with 2 HO.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Then I ran along the right wall, past the threesome and directly to the named. The threesome aggroed but I didnt even look at them. I killed the named in 2 HO's and left the house.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I checked how much of my resources I used when I zoned out . . . . 1 bbl of power and 1 bbl of health.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It was picture perfect . . . . . Thanks Terdrigar!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Correction folks, sorry bout that , , , , , , LEVEL 19 not 10 <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>
