View Full Version : Chasing the HO wheel
<DIV>Maybe not a Templar only discussion. But has anyone else been in a group with people who think chasing the HO wheel is more important than keeping the MT alive?</DIV> <DIV>I was with one group in Beta that was all squirrley and last night with another group member that ended up leaving. I realize when a 4 class HO hits it does much more damage or healing than ordinary spells, heals etc. do. But as a healer class is not our first responsibility to keep the MT's up ?</DIV> <DIV>I always try my best to finish the wheel off, but if the MT health is dropping faster than the reactive heals, I saw screw the wheel and cast the heal. </DIV> <DIV>I'm probably wrong, and I'm sure that HO's will become necessary at really high levels, but right now I'd rather leave a group than waste time trying to figure out who broke the wheel, etc.</DIV> <DIV>Just this Templars humble opinion.</DIV> <DIV>Will put on my fireproof robes and dodge incoming flames now.</DIV> <DIV>Elladan 22 Temp AB, hoping to heal you soon <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>I do the same, healing is job #1. Most people seem to understand and agree with that though.</DIV>
<DIV>Yep. I always tell anyone who mentions anything about HOs that I will not hesitate to break a HO to cast a heal. Most people have zero problem with this since letting group members die hurts everyone's XP and XP is mostly what hunting is all about. I haven't had any negative responses to this stance yet.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Personally, I think spells that don't target the mob shouldn't interrupt an HO anyways, but whatever. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-- Nyatar Nagaren, Nektulos</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

The groups I've ran into only care about HO this and HO that, so I try my best to only join groups that has another healer so I can heal why the other chain HOs. I'm pretty good at doing HOs, but for a healer to keep doing them is going to be yelling OOM more often the a few times. I totally agree with your opinion about the none attacking spells breaking HOs.

<DIV>I agree too.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Only had one person have a go at people for breaking HO's and that was during beta as well. No way I am gonna wait for someone to get the next part of the combo off before I heal lol.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Heal first HO later. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>It's not hard to set up a macro <FONT color=#66ffff>/group ---- Heroic Wheel Coming ---- </FONT>and use this a second or two before you trigger. It's also not entirely difficult to trigger the HW when healing is not required (ie, when the tank has just been healed, or when he is at full health) so that a group can pull off a wheel efficiently, without the need to break it with a heal.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Whilst I love the wheel and the things a good group can do with it, I fully appreciate that a good group does not need it to do well. Some people have arts in the 20s that do far, far more damage than any wheel combo. We play in a trio (Berzerker, Inquisitor and Assassin) and we rarely bother to use the HW, despite the fact that we know how powerful it can be. Our dps is insane as it is, the only wheel we use is the fighter solo and the scout solo. The damage I inflict with mine is so insignificant compared I may as well just save my power for other activities.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We're able to take out two-tier yellows without using the HW extensively and yet we use it enough to make a difference, and I have no issues healing. So any group that says you cannot heal for the sake of using the HW all the time is not a very good group at all.</DIV>

<DIV>"screw the wheel and cast the heal."</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>hehe my new motto <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Its nice to be in a group with 2 healers, one can be main healer and the other backup / HO's. Otherwise if I'm alone I always heal first and only do HO if I have the time and power to waste.</DIV>
