I noticed today that our Control undead spell is changed. They added the line "Certain enemies cannot be charmed". (i.e. the nameds in MM castle)Anyone know why they changed it and didnt mention it? It also gets resisted alot more in MM castle after GU31.

Message Edited by Sjonnie on 02-01-2007 03:07 AM

Think it was just brought into balance with the other charms in game. Coercer charm doesn't work on nameds usually and if it does it usually is a mistake that gets fixed with the next update. It's no "Necro Nerf". Don't think you can really say anything about increased resist rates yet as the GU only just went live. I think they "globally lowered resist rates" so it shouldn't be the case. You never know, though. CyaNoirceur

its not just the nameds (which would make sence) but also trash mobs for example in obelisk of blight. Still i think it would have been nice of SoE to mention they changed it.Besides that its very vague what "certain" mobs is. It would make more sence to state what mobs are affected and which dont like for example , doesnt work on epic mobs, doesnt work on lvl higher then .. etcI can still charm a lvl 70 skeleton in Obelisk but not a lvl 71 skeleton. No longer works on vampires there either.

Message Edited by Sjonnie on 02-01-2007 05:48 AM

I have always been able to charm that named pianist in castle mistmoore and that named vanquisher in the back too before this Game Update 31. Although i must say its arguable they changed this because necros could solo them with charm.

That part of it is a bug, but its always not worked on certain mobs. Even the general purpose charms have limits and don't work on all mobs.

Troub charm is the same way atm. So far I've only been able to charm animals. Anything that can think is a no.

So I was in valdoons tonight, and had something rather disturbing happen. I charmed a couple different mobs. In every engagement the charm would break, every one, no joke. I would say the charm would only last about 30 to 45 seconds. I did this about 7 times before the shaman in our group could stand it no more. For the uninitiated, a little info on making the charm less likely to break...

The charm checks itself randomly against you subjugation in relation to the mobs level to determine the likelyness of a break.

So if you want a level 71 mob to be green to your subjugation at adventure L70, you could put on subjugation gear to boost yourself from 350 to 390, effectively making you L78 against that L71 (now green) mob. Green mobs dont hardly ever break their charms.

Now I have 393 subjugation self buffed, and I have the charm master, so I dont expect an effectively green mob to break it's charm but once, maybe twice tops, during a 25 minute period. I have charmed a lot of mobs to observe this behavior, so I must take exception to it breaking in less than a minute every time.

The charm seems to sell for 40-50p, and it is a T6 ancient teaching, making it very hard to come by. Obtaining all the subjugation gear that I have has been very difficult. I feel Ive paid the dues for a quality charm. So why dont I have it? If a charmed mob breaks even once during 3 engagements, it's counterproductive. I might as well have an appr1 and no subjugation skill at all. It could be that SOE intends for me to charm a truely green mob to have something that wont break. Hmmmm. Yeah.

It was my understanding that mobs in MMC and Valdoons because uncharmable not long ago, and it was a bug. I dont know if they fixed that because I can charm mobs in Valdoons. But perhaps these fixed mobs are ignoring subjugation boots, because I would expect a yellow mob to behave like what I saw tonight. This would mean that this problem is isolated to a few areas, but Im really reaching on that one. Has anyone else taken notice of this?
