I was thinking about taking the blood pact AA for keeping my pet up during raids. But there is the cost of 62 mana per second - does this mean I am going out of mana within a minute or two for just keeping up the aoe-immune? Did anyone test this ability?

Does the aoe-immune also effect the swarm pets?

Message Edited by Clywd on 12-10-2006 07:08 AM

It only goes for your main pet.
And the pact line seems like a line for those that want to be support, not front-line dps.

You are "waisting" alot of aa points in that line just to get the spell, and it does't seem that uber either :

I think most necro's are going full out in both Rotting and the Gravecalling AA-line, atleast that's where i'm heading..
But i'm only spec'd for dps, not sure what kind of necro you wanna be

Well, I want my raid to be as successfull as possible. So I was thinking to take the ooze pet and keep it up for a full fight for debuffing the raid boss, or taking the scout pet and dealing as much damage as possible.

My first view was also to take "obviously" lifeburn, but well, I'm not so sure about it now. While it is awesome for playing in groups or in easy raid zones like labs or deathtoll, it would be not so smart to use it on tougher mobs. And the tough mobs are my goal.

You simply have to be more careful how and when you are using it on a mob like that. Obviously if he's got a huge AoE you time it right, or if he mind wipes you don't cast it right after the wipe. Lifeburn is an incredibly powerful spell, just needs some planning to not screw you and your raid over.

I respecc'd and tried both the AoE prevention and the Ooze pet... imho the AoE prevention is a huge waste as it does kill a bunch of mana in one fight (if you maintain it), I think it worked out to 5200ish total mana for a 60sec fight. The ooze pet I havent found useful either, yeah it debuffs but it wasn't very noticable. Tried it on DT named's and Chel'drak. I figure if my DPS is gonna suffer 1k+ then the debuffs from this ooze pet should make the other peoples DPS in my raid increase noticably but parse files don't show that. My overall decision is gonna be lifeburn with a mix of lil odds and ends.

The ooze pet doesn't debuff the enemies' defense. It debuffs their offense.

would be nice if they atleast made it hit every 6 seconds instead of every second. every second is too much imo.

Well, I suppose it's to be used when AoE are predictable and timed. You just have to use pact few secs and cancel it as soon as AoE occured. It depends of your guild and encounters.I'll go where tide is

I think i ll got for the grave calling line because i really like the shadow beast look, i ll have all the possible pet that way.The pact line is extemely tempting. I think if you are the only necro in your guild you should go for the pact line to maintain a permanent DPS and not bother with AOE, if there are 2 necros in the guild discuss on who takes wich line. Because no matter i really think the Ooze debuff is really a nice help to a raid.

At the moment I am the only necro in my guild, yes. I'm also afraid of the big mana costs. If it stays like this the ability is quite useless - one minute is much too short, especially as the recast of the ooze pet is only 5 seconds.

So I skip it for the moment and start thinking again, where to spent the next points.

i dont have the blood pact line i have maxed rotting and working on the gravecalling line cause i want to have a fourth pet (might respect very soon if i find out it s not that good and doesnt suit my playstile). To my mind Blood pact is just a skill you toggle on and off every time the MT calls out "AOE inc in 10" you just click the skill, and once he calls "AOE just hitted" you toggle it off. I dont know if there is a recast timer and if there is one what it is.

I personally think Blood Pact is a better option for the raiding Necromancer.

Your only other option really, is the Gravecalling line, which doesn't add much at all to your DPS.

Instead you can get your Heart recast down to 20seconds, have a better heal and rez, for when its needed, not to mention an AoE Immune pet for the fights that just hit it a little too hard.

yeah, there is definitely not much else to spend the AA on.
