So we get an upgrade to a spell every 14 levels, I just find it odd there's no upgrade at level 65 for the necro spell Dooming Darkness of am I missing something?

The only explanation I've been able to come accross for this is that spells that are % based will never get an upgrade, because, well, a % higher than whatever it is might be considered overpowered.

However, I think Dooming Darkness line should be an exception to this rule (for a few reasons, and only for one or two more upgrades).
a) the snare isn't anything compared to most others.
b) there is a dot attached to it.

/shrug.

The spells are usless anyways... because the dot is directly attached to the snare, it usualy breaks after 2-3 seconds which is only 1-2 ticks of the dot's duration. In order to make this spell useable it should work the scout's snare/debuff works.

Make it so that the snare and dot are seperate so that if the snare breaks, the dot is still there...

The dot is a snare, and the snare that follows up after the dot ends is a slow as well.

But yeah, Snares have a chance to break just as roots do, so...

I cast it everytime its up. Dooming Darkness procs Lich for extra damage even though the snare doesn't stick.

Message Edited by slyfer on 07-31-2006 03:21 PM

Same, for the short cast, the lich proc, and the chance at proccing other stuff, its worth casting in a DPS raid position.

I use it when soloing for pulling a lot. Residual from original EQ play I guess.

And given how easily the snare breaks, and thus ending the DoT portion early...

some % based spells for alot of classes don't get upgraded just because at a certain point the percentage would be overpowered in SOE's eyes.

Compare our 56% snare to other peoples 110% tell me why we shouldn't get an upgrade.

Lol.

... 110% snare... wouldn't that make its movement negative?Anyway, its a great spell... Good for pulling, good for CC... Get Adept III or Master and it sticks very nicely, I rarely have mine break unless I'm actively hammering the mob.If you been around a while you remember when it was 98% snare... yes this was a bit overkill... Plus the snare stacks with the snare from our fear line... so even now, you can mess up a mobs movement speed to a very high degree.

Most commit suicide on the spot rather than live with the shame.

Sark.
