Im curious, my hubby is playing a necro and while we havent played much together we would like to play the 2 summoner classes we think they look kick butt together with the 2 pets. Im betting the conj pet may have to tank due to heals, but can we do it the other way around, is the necro pet a decent tank also? I would like to be able to use my dps pets also .. what kind of encounters would we be able to do, and what would give us difficulty? thanks <div></div>

<DIV>Imo the conj pet makes the best tank in a conj/necro duo for a couple reasons (all things being equal): </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The conj pet buffs are a little better oriented for tanking. </DIV> <DIV>Plus a necro can use his transfer life spell to backup heal the conj pet.</DIV> <DIV>Where as the conj (sacrifice excluded) does not have the same ability to backup heal the necro pet.</DIV> <DIV>Also necro heals take life vs a conjs using power, with the necro only having to backup heal it will be easier for him to lifetap and keep his health up with only having to use the one heal spell instead of both if their pet had to tank.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am not saying the necro pet isnt capable of tanking but its not as efficent in a conj/necro duo.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There are some other factors to consider however, like who has the highest level (i.e. mob con vs pet con) can make a huge difference in pet survival regardless of the class. Second would be quality level of the pets (i.e. adept 3 vs master). The higher the quality of the tank pet the better they will hold agro as well as your dps pets naturally will do more dmg at higher qualities, so depending on who has the highest quality pets in each catagory may be something to play around with and see for yourself whose pet tanks better and whose dps better.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Its hard to say exactly what you can take on, but if you both upgrade your spells to adept 3 or better, and with some practice/skill you should be able to take on some tough mobs.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Arrowheart on <span class=date_text>07-31-2006</span> <span class=time_text>05:29 PM</span>

From my experience, necro tank pet is not the greatest and I've been using Master1 and Adept 3 pets. You can have the necro pet tank, but best case solution IMO would be to have the conjuror pet tank and use a necro mage pet since it can do the highest dps and add a bit of healing to everyone in the group (albeit small). This also will allow the necro to spot heal the conjurors pet with Transfer Life inbetween Lifetaps. I know it may not sound like the funnest job for a conjuror to play pet tank, but it is the best solution.

Both classes compliment very well. I have found that the best way, as you say, is for the conj pet to do the tanking. Everything points (you'll notice this as you level) towards this being the best way to handle things but it's possible to do plenty the other way around. I've been in situations where conj would only get his tank pet out on named. Player levels, spell levels and strategy for a kill all play a part in pet choice and there's often a few different ways which i love. Try everything as it will give you a chance to showboat all your skills. Once a conj has frigid winds you don't necessarily have to use a tank pet at all for some fights.Mix it up , its all good . <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Did I just admit to duoing with a conjuror? doh! <span>:smileysad:</span></div>

<DIV>They actually go together very well. I made a similar post somewhere, but I can't find it to link to it at the moment. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Don't forget, the conjurer has a much more efficient heal than the necro. I think at level 24, my necro's heal is only for 109 + 17/few ticks for that amount of my own health.. My wife's conjurer can heal for like 220 for what seems to be minimal power usage. Good for bursting heals. So if we're fighting a ^ ^ ^ arrow heroic, we both chain root, she backs off pet, and then casts some efficient heals, uses a splintered heart..sends pet back in, and we're good to go. Having my mage pet adept III on damage is also pretty nice, coupled with my AoE lifetaps. Oh and one other thing.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you want to kill massive "Groups" of small double down or single down arrow mobs. Easiest duo ever. Just send in the mage pet, then send in the necro caster pet, and both of you AoE = 10 guys dying at the same time.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
