Ok. First glance at a necro. Im level 24. First time playing one.Two things I notice.Pets.Level 20. I get my grim spellbinder. I buy the master for 20g, hey not that bad...So I scribe it on my necro, and test it out. Holy hell that thing can REAM. My pet [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]ing owns the damage. But hey, not that big of a deal that he's a worse tank than I am, I can heal him and usually keep him alive against what I kill. No biggie.Level 24. Undying adherant. What a waste? Yeah he can take some damage... but I can't heal him. And HIS damage is beyond [Removed for Content]. Im noticing extremes. With DPS pet vs tank pet.Our heals. No complaints other than for our dps pets its a gigantic heal, and for our tank pets it barely moves their health bar. Little annoying.DPS petsSwarm of Rats. I chose the master II at 24 because it seemed the logical choice.. the master II of lifetap was only a small upgrade from adept 1. Why do they suck?but overall - necros are beasts. Love playing mine, its the only class I purposefully played without any vitality. I leveled to 24 pure solo, and it was fun and easy and fast. Only thing I notice about this class is that there are extremes. Tank pet is a tank (too much of one) and a dps pet is pure dps (too much of it)If that makes any sense.

I'm curious as to what spell rank your tank pet is. Remember with the Grim Spellbinder since he's master 1 all his spells are master 1. That's why he does insane damage. The master rank on the nukes affects both his damage and his spell resists.

Tank pet isn't really a tank, just an threat generating machine with mild damage midigation. The only good part about the tank pet is its number of hps.I like the rogue pet myself.

Message Edited by Midsong on 07-29-2006 11:42 AM

Message Edited by Midsong on 07-29-2006 11:46 AM

I have an adept III level 24 pet and he does quite well, can solo a yellow con no-arrow mob by himself.. and with defensive stance lasts very well in fights. There is quite a bit of difference in the different qualities of pets. Get an Adept III tank pet or a Master I and then compare them.

I actually took Lifetap because it did quite a bit more damage than my adept I I had, the swarm of rats I compared with a friend and at adept I compared to his master II they were not doing that much more damage to warrant the upgrade, my lifetap I can use many times, the rats are fire once and they are done.

I would of thought most spell lines follow the 14 level upgrade path. Lifetap and swarm pets included ?

Sark.

A. Mage pet owns ALL others solo or group from 1-45ish. Hands down this pet parses the best damage numbers. This changed around 45 when the scout pet line shines.

B. Lifetap is, IMO, the best upgrade to Master II any Necro can elect. It has the best self heal and best single target nuke. Not to mention the bonus check to resists on it for pvp or pve.

Nuuki
