<DIV>Hi guys.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just curious to know if any fellow Necro's have attempted to solo Nest at any point and what your thoughts are. If you've been successful in defeating most of the mobs except the named all the way on the top floor please share your strategies. Thanks in advance.</DIV>

<DIV>I gave nest ago with my 70 necro and died on first name, he is beatable but certainly no walk in the park as he is for my 70 Berserker.</DIV> <DIV>  Pets just cant take the beating that they used too b4 all the nerfs.  Funny how my zerker solos better than my necro, when necros are supposed to be one of the best solo classes.</DIV> <DIV>Both toons are twinked with Adept IIIs and masters in non raid gear (legendary and mastercrafted).</DIV>

<div></div><div></div>Yeah ive attempted it a couple times solo so far in 2-3 attempts can kill up untill the 3rd named fairly easily (not including the 2 nameds who drop the stones). Have and use M1 tank pet M1 def stance and quite a few other M1s, so i guess im fairly well deaked, gear is probably only average, maybe slightly above.....MY stat, if it can be called that by taking your time rooting the named and killing his adds with mostly Aoe spells you are then able to concentrate on killing the main named of each group, im sure it could be done up to the last nameds room (hes a bit tougher) with a little prctice even if you dont have uber gear...might try again when servers come back up and not bail out when i get another offer....will report back latter, Guess the main thing i do is just take it one mob in a group at a time rooting as many others as i can.....cheers look forward to seeying how others go with doing this.....<div></div><p>Message Edited by cainen76 on <span class=date_text>07-27-2006</span> <span class=time_text>07:53 AM</span>

<DIV>I've tried soloing a couple of times. By the 3rd try I actually managed to get past lvl 2 but for some reason those mobs tore right thru my tank pet and killed me in no time. I'm sure with practice it can be done but it'd be nice to hear from someone that has completed most of the zone and how they did it. </DIV>

Its soloable if you use fd right on the last waves of mobs that swarm you at the very top.. it takes a long time to do this because of the 5 minute recast but yeah its doable / thanks to a few grandmasters potions also lol I did it once.. but it took me over 4 hours to do it. not worth it except for once for bragging rights lol oh and the summoners staff you get in living tombs is a must for this also! :O

<DIV>Ya. I got the staff from Living Tombs and what a pain in the [Removed for Content] it was. Anyways, I think it's called [Yeh'dad's Caduceus] or something like that and a very very very good staff to have in emergencies. Saved my butt quite a few times. I loaded up on grandmaster potions of all kind in the hopes that I can speed up the process. I don't think I would spend 4 hours soloing an instance that just crazy. It is however a great way to learn how to strategize your skills and use the pet efficiently. I've died quite a few times but that is to be expected. </DIV>

Got to the Chamberlain's chamber. Had to FD at the first wave of the ring event, just to make sure i waited for FD to be back up again to kill the rest, but the event reset before that and the mobs became unattackable. Could re-activate them again and had to bail :/<div></div>

<P>Ive done it twice, takes too long to do it anymore than that. </P> <P>Besides the chamberlin the second named is the hardest imo.  The 3rd name just make sure to root and fear/stun whenver you can so it breaks his casting.  Kettleleader just takes awhile as he usually kills the tank fairly quick so have to root kill him. And the chamberlin you need to make sure you have your self cure up, if he hits you with arcane spells.  And the ring event part just send the elevator back down in case you die or need to fd.</P>

I solo the 1st floor on a daily basis just for the master drop chance. I've gotten like 4 masters in a month or sol of soloing it. I've only tried the 2nd floor a few times, and although I didn't die, it never seemed worth the time investment. I just go on to other zones with easy to tag nameds instead.

<DIV>I haven't solo'd it but I 2 box it with my 70th defiler about 3 times a week.  Its ok for master drops.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyways, once I get to the Kettleleader I usually put my wards on Myself and NOT my pet.  Its a very sad state of affairs we have come to when the necro himself tanks better than the tank pet that is fully defiler buffed but I have tested it over and over and its easier to do it that way.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Estean 70th Necromancer</DIV> <DIV>Gamble 70th Defiler</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Butcherblock </DIV>

Defilers make everyone a tank <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  The reason you probably tank better is cause you have mitigation and the pet doesnt so the pet just eats threw the wards.  Plus your avoidance is most likely higher.

<P>I have soloed Nest twice.  IMO, it's not really worth the time and effort, as you can get a better chance of masters from farming trash in PoA.  But if you are hellbent on doing it, then just take your time.  Splitting off group encounters is key for the named fights.  I always pull by rooting the names and having the tank pet AE taunt the adds, assisting my pet for targets and recasting roots on the named.  You can also use fear on an add if you have room and can control it.  Once the adds are down, I just summon a new tank pet (faster and easier than healing and letting it get power back), and send the pet onto the named, use the snare in case the roots break before the pet gets aggro so that I can kite a bit, and then kill the named.  Another way is to just root nuke the names down.</P> <P>For the end named, which is the hard fight, you MUST cure arcane and you simply can't have a pet tank it even with the Caduceus.  Between it's noxious debuffs and wicked arcane DoT, it's better to just use a Staff of Spectral Fury (casting heal proc), and keep your pet off of the named so that you can tap power and get a second heal for yourself in case you have the WIS line.  It takes a while to kill him, but it IS soloable.  It's just not worth the time IMO.</P> <P>As for the "necros are better tanks than their pets," yeah, we are.  I tanked in PoA around the Enmity two nights ago for 3 hours with only my boxed fury, a dirge using offensive buffs only, and an assassin while I used high mit gear.  In that scenario, I always use a scout pet and just tank myself.  With a healer, it's easy for us to go over 2k and can almost hit 3k with top end gear and buffs.</P>

<DIV>We only make better tanks if you're soloing trash mobs or easy named mobs, or you have a real healer available. But when you're doing blue or white ^^^ named mobs we are not a better tank than the warrior pet.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>At the very least the warrior pet can take a few 1000 point hits without you having to worry about getting interupted. At the least it can be healed for 4,000+ Hpts instantly.</DIV> <DIV>Yeah, the fact that it lacks mitigation sucks, but the fact that a real named mob will beat the cloth off of you in 10 seconds regardless of your mitigation, and you can't heal yourself for 4,000 hpts in one cast makes a world of difference.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So I certainly wouldn't advice anyone to try soloing the Gatekeeper using themselves as MT and a rogue pet for DPS. </DIV>
