My fiance will be rolling a necromancer in a few days as soon as i have our second computer built. She is adamant that she will be evil and can control undead ((((im so proud of her:smileyhappy)))

I will be rolling a new alt to duo with her and i am seriously considering rolling a necro as well, I was curious if anyone had any opinions on a 2 necro duo, would that be effective, or has anyone on this board has exceptional duo's with another class that might be complimentry to a necromancer.

I would really appreciate detailed responses so i can determine the most enjoyment we might have togather.

i 2box a necro and defiler, defiler is only 37 so i mentor with my necro but it works really well. i hear necro + necro is good but prolly not as effective as a necro + healer

I have little play time. My highest is 17th, as I end up rerolling ALOT.That out of the way. I three box, and run a trio of necromancers (and warlocks - which I wouldnt recommend as a duo). They work REALLY well for me.Yeah, Im low level and dont have Rez or Feign, but I think when you get their you guys will be pretty unstoppable. Currently my guys root on encounters, send in three pets one one, drop all my dots with the AE one last, then just switch to a new target and drop more dots. The two longer lasting dots once, the fast acting dot maybe twice, so I dont think Im wasting mana. I never pull aggro, mobs drop really quickly.I dont have a wealth of experience, but with fast efficient damage and all the utility of the necromancer, this has to be a good duo. In two and three boxing, Ive always found damage to be the king.Mal

Message Edited by Faelos on 07-19-2006 12:47 PM

Message Edited by Faelos on 07-19-2006 12:48 PM

Bruiser is a awesome soloer too, with stuns and heals of both it may be fun and a good way to get rid of that ugly tank pet ^^

Maybe it's just me, but I personally would go with another necro. One tank pet and an assassin or mage, really efficient healing, CC, FD's and rezes and talk about pwnage with the dots and dumbfires....Maybe it's just me but I think a fg of necro's could rival any other group makup. With a group skelly illusion on it would like like the army of the dead too, oh well guess im partial.

I wonder what you could take down using no dmg, just tank pets letting them die, but alternating who's casting them. May not work, but if it did..

Can't go wrong with any partner really, necro's are awesome buddies.

Guardian, Bruiser if u want her to have more fun and easier life...

Druid, Shaman, Summoner if u want her to be more skillful, or she is smart enough...

Wiz, Warlock, Scouts if u want some big challenge with her...

I'd say bruisa myself. Mage pet and necro can heal him, he can take plenty of dmg and does some himself while the necro DoTs like buggery I'm biased though as my mains are Bruisa and Necro. That said, am looking to buy a defiler to two-box. Anyone know if Mystic just as good for Necro? Not a big fan of FP (it's a fricking dump )

I have a Necro alt (Zoobaj the Troll and tailor) and my partner rolled an alt Necro (Cheddar the Ratonga) at the same time. We take them out together exclusively either as a duo or in groups. We have a great time and we can kill things fast. We can also heal each other if needed and can both feign death together if needed. I love the Necro-Necro duo.

My girlfriend and I duo Necromancers. Hers is lower lvl than mine, so I end up mentoring. We blow through mobs with ease.

I like it because, since she is new, I can not only give her advice, I can show her. We also duo a fury/zerker and when she asks me questions about her fury, I don't always have an answer. But when she asks me about necro, I can at least tell her what I did, and what worked for me.

Honestly, if you want a nec/nec combo, I would go for it. Its great.

I'm currently duoin my necro with my brothers conj and it's been a great combo. His tank does a much better job of tanking (takes far less damage and while agro hasn't been a big issue I think it does a better job when dealing with encounters). I've been using the warlock pet and we melt most singles / encounters very fast. I also like that we can solo just fine if one is on and the other isn't.

I have played a defiler, warden and conj as well.

About the healers, I found it a bit boring in just a duo. When 2boxing they were ok because i just used them for heals, or in a group they stay quite busy - but duoed their damage seems to be minor compared to the caster they are with and their healing is often overkill.

Two conjs are nice but I didn't care for the lack of variety.

My advice is to make a conj - your first 10 levels fly by in a blink the first night and you can travel and group up in either ant or CL after that if you wish. Either way, by the time you are 20 you are pretty much out in the same areas anyway. Don't chose necro over conj just because they are in different cities - it's like letting the first two nights of gameplay dictate your class for the rest of your characters life.

But yea - necro / necro will be just fine and you will still have an easy time of it.

gonna be different here...

Shadowknight... they can do some awesome dmg, heal themselfs (proc on pet if needs be), and can tank fairly well, what mroe do you need?

Two necro's is a good combo on the way up to about 45. However, the main issue is spell master upgrades. You two will always be competing for the same spell drops and masters. I know it doesnt matter to some couples, but it can be an issue. The healer is probably a better pick for the two man crew, because you can use the scout pet in the 40-60's and the healer can really save your pets rear-end.

Nuuki

I've duoed with a Defiler and Warlock so far, and both were pretty good. It just depends what you want to do. With the Defiler, I used to tank pet and we did some tough heroics. It was kind of slow, but worked out really well. With the Warlock, I used the tank pet again and we did the same heroics I did with the Defiler. It was a little harder, but mobs went down alot faster. Sad thing is, she doesn't really need you.

Conjuror and Necromancer duo is fantastic, unless you're adamant about being in the same starting city. Then I would recommend a shadowknight, bruiser or coercer. (Warlocks will hit issues with so AE's and ripping aggro off your tank pet and it's a pain in the butt to do AE roots with a pet being in the mix)Other than that, try the conjuror/necro. My wife and I duo a conjuror and necro and at 68 we are able to down high yellow triple up nameds with a little footwork. Plus, you won't be arguing over masters. =DFun stuff. (Runneyeye was win as this duo. Very win.)--RaygoConjuror, Mistmoore

Well I started my necro last year with my girlfriend. She rolled a inquisitor. At the time things were rough because we really didn't know the game that well. With that said though later when we started really learning the game and it's intricasy etc we were a fine duo, deffinately not the best though. Personally I think the best duo if one of you is a necro is Paladin(epitome of good) and Necro(As evil as evil gets). Paladins can take that beating and heal themselves just fine and will never have a problem with hate. Not only that but you get a heal as well so you can help out in those tough times. You being a Paly would allow her to just go crazy with her necro. Of course thats not the only good duo, I would also suggest.

Druid or Cleric + Necro (Dont think shamans are that great with the pets cause they have such a large number of hp and such low mit. YOu really need raw healing power and i think druid and Clerics have that. Dont get my wrong i love shamans and there debuffs.)

Conj + Necro would probably the most fun for the two of you though. Two very excellent classes. You would end up using your tank pet all the time though cause the tank pet for a conj is better then Necro.

I am a level 67 Necro and played one in EQ1 to level 65 as well. I have always found the company of another NEC highly beneficial in duo groups. The skills are the same so it stands to reason that any strategy undertaken by that team is fortified x 2 by virtue of its members.

You now have two healers on the MT pet.

You can heal each other

You have twice the DPS from stacking spells.

You both have FD if it goes bad. You can rez each other if you miss FD

And the benefits go on...

I feel that a duo team of NEC is a sweet deal that you will find can work to your advantage. As far as fighting over spells for your class, since she is your fiancee (Grats by the way).. the nec I usually group with and myself made the arrangement that any non NEC M1 that drops goes to one player and the very next goes to the other in an alternating fashion. NEC M1 spells are /random or you can alternate that as well.

If that player is worth having as a friend/ partner, you will work it out.

Kski93 wrote:
Conj + Necro would probably the most fun for the two of you though. There was no real PC tank so we were using pets to hold mobs. I have an M1 Tank pet and the Conjurer had what ever it is that they have. The Con was level 70 and I am 67. We alternated pulls to keep the xp flowing. Aggro hold was the same as hers. Damage was no different. You could barley tell who was pulling between the two of us. I hear the statement that CON pets are better than NEC, but so far I see nothing remarkable about the CON pet.

I know nothing about the CON line of pets, or what level this girls pet was, but if it was holding the same as mine, at the very least it had to be an AD3, in which case factoring in the level difference, I would say they were equal

Im open to being educated on this matter.

Message Edited by Vici_Necromancer on 08-02-2006 07:47 AM
