I'm new with necro class (well relatively new, I have lvl 23 necro). My question with grouping other players is that what kind of pet one should then use? the dps or tank pet (aka servant)? how should the pet be used? I'm been told that dps pet draws agro quite fast, so it might not be good idea to use pet (at all when grouping?).

When grouped consider two things.1) what are you fighting2) what is your role in the groupIf there is a tank present then you are dps and as such will be using a dps pet. If you are fighting mobs that come in linked encounters then mage pet is a good choice as it will hit all of those and the lifetap will help top up heal your group, if you are fighting single encounters scout pet for more focused dps.

It's prefrence really. The 2 pets have their roles as explained above. Normally, if I find the group's healers are a bit under skilled, I'll pull out the mage pet. The group heal the mage pet does can help keep the group going longer. If I want to test the skills of the tank, I'll go assassin pet.

Just don't start switching between the 2 with every encounter. It'll drive you and the group nuts.

Message Edited by Nainitsuj on 06-26-2006 07:23 AM
