View Full Version : LU24 Mage Pet Changes
<div></div>Has anyone noticed a change in the mage pet since LU24? Before the patch my pet would generally cast spells through most of the fight and occasionally move towards the mob to melee. Usually he only did this a couple times in a normal duration fight and, while this is certainly annoying as [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn], it was at least manageable. Now after the patch my pet moves forward about 5 meters everytime he casts a spell. Even at max range he's back in aoe range ridiculously fast and dead from aoes before I even have time to call him back. Has anyone else noticed this? Has there been any reference to changing the way pets move from devs or patch notes? Is this working as intended?<div></div>

That's the way caster pets always used to work at one time. Can't recall the time when they were altered. <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

<DIV>Last night on a labs raid myself and the conj's in the group running mage pet all ended up switching to the scout pet because they atleast survived the first AE most of the time. Yes we all noticed the difference to the mage pet and all had the same comment, why the heck would a mage run into melee range. I have been feedbacking this for about 2 months now saying why would a mage run in but of course we wont get an answer or a change to this, SOE probably intends it to limit the dps.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Corinthius 70 Nec Nektulos</DIV>

Why would a mage run in to AoE? 'Cause.. that's what we do. We go "Gah! out of power! My staff / dagger will get the job done with a skill of 15/350. And I like to pay for repairs!" So.. the mage pet tries to emulate that behaviour.

<DIV>Lol my mage pet takes after me... most of the time I am in there meleeing... hence why my piercing skill is maxed... XD Most mobs don't have aoe's (or strong ones the pet heall can't fix). So I see it as a way to keep necros from using their most damaging pet during raids so our dps goes down.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hell in a raid, our tank pet and implode can do more dps than the mage pet. Let the tank pet stand in there and beat away till he has a sliver of hp... then implode and resummon.</DIV>

<P>For the labs raid I did last night.. the other necro and I did a comparison. Master 1 dreadnaught vs Adept 3 nightshade. We're both using master pet buffs and master consumption. For the first half of the raid zone I was at the top. For the second half he was at the top. The numbers usually looked like (First half) me - 56k him 54k. (Second half) me - 54k, him 56k. For Vyemm I had 47k, he had 32k. But I made my pet AoE immune and kept consumption on him when ever possible.</P> <P>What's the point? Even without implode, the tank pet does better than the mage pet.</P>
