I am almost lvl 55 and am looking forward to control undead. I have been able to buy a Master version of this spell.

What areas can you find undead to control ? Is there a list some where ?

With a Master version, what level of mob can you control ? How much breaking of the control can I expect ?

Would the latest change in the DPS of our pets affect our Undead pet ?

Thanks in advance :smileywink:

There are some undead in SS that you can use your CU spell on. In particular, the grimreaper dudes. There are some near the carpet area, but the ones I always chose were up on the northeast portion of the map. Then there is always the Living Tombs. good place and lotta undead there. Aside from that, you will be hard pressed in other zones to find undead worthy of that nice spell. And gratz on the M1 !!

even though you have master 1, expect a lot of charm breaks and dont be frustrated.

congratz on the M1, although I also want to warn you. There is another topic about it wich says that the spell (at adept 3, mines adept one and only use it on adds/group mobs and release after fight) that it will never last longer then a few (7 mins orso) so dunno how good your master version will be.

But please, do tell us after trying it out a few times. If its good at master maybe ill try to get one myself =)

Stick with ^ or lower green mobs. For me at least they seldom break, and even if they do so what. The extra DPS even a green/blue ^ offers is VERY noticable.Anything higher than this should be charmed temporarily. Blue ^^^ adds in blackscale are sweet to charm, you take a ^^^ mobs out of combat long enough to kill the ^^. We did the entire zone once without a healer... Just had 2 necros charming adds, 2 Paladins (1 tanking, 1 spot healing), 1 Conj, and ... we had druid when we started, but the druid went LD after the 1st room... we almost gave up thinking no way we could do it, but we stayed and owned the place.

I've never had a problem holding the charm. For me it's always lasted the full amount of time. I've read alot of people have problems with this, but I never have to date.Maybe its just luck. :smileywink:

every hit the charmed monster takes has a chance to break it, so beware about that altho i have never had or seen someone with master charm soo would definatly like to know how it goes, mine being adept 1 is alright for adds and crowd control but thats about it.

Charm has nada to do with a mob getting hit or not. Its 100% timer based.... Every few ticks a resist check is made... if the mob fails it stays charmed. Only 3 (maybe 4) things factor into a charm duration:

Level difference between the mob and caster... postitive differences (ie... the mob is higher than the caster) mean more % chance of resist... negative difference ( player is higher level) mean less chance of resisting.

Mobs ^ level ... ^, ^^, and ^^^ mobs are more resistant overall, and v, vv, vvv mobs are less.

The Tier of the spell you use directly affects the base resistance chance.

I'm 90% sure some mobs are just more resistant to our charm... be it that charm is disease or magic based and that affects resists, or just some mobs are coded that way, certain mobs just don't stay charmed as long as other types.

Other that this nothing else matters.

IMHO, its not worth using anything above a blue ^ mob as a keeper pet. Anything higher has a fairly good chance at resisting and doesn't provide that much more DPS.

As of LU24, when a mob breaks charm, its HPs are still based on a percentage of what it had while it was charmed, so using the charm a mob and let it tank for you tactic still works great.

I just wanted to give the thread here an update. I have been using the Control Undead Master I version with mixed results. You definatly need to control Blue or Green Mobs. Even then it will break. And if it breaks when you are fighting a very tough mob .. well by the time you get him off of you and can get him under your control ... well its not pretty. I find using this useful for very tough mobs but it is a bit of a challange. Also in groups sometimes the people just don't want to deal with the pet breaking and attacking.

So in conclution ... its a mixed bag.

:smileywink:

I picked up the master the other day noticed a bit of a difference witht he bonemire mobs lasting longer. With my ad3 it would break after about 2 mins now it seems to last 10-15 witht he droag.
