I'm pretty sure this spell requires NPC bodies. I tried it last night with dead raid members and it didn't work. The 15 recast means I'm not trying again. If this is the case, what situation would we be realizing the maximum number of pets? It would have to be something like the monk groups in PoF. That or I have to train the raid leader not to loot corpses before going into another AE mob. The spell is outstanding even with a few corpses. I'd like to see the full potential.

I thought this would be a good raid wipe spell but Im not sure PC bodies are used. Anyone else know for sure?

It works off of NPC bodies, but I have yet to see more than 5 out at any time for myself, but the conditions have not been right for more...it is rare that you have more than 1-3 bodies at anytime, and by that time, the encounter is mostly over so I wont use a 15 minute recast spell.

This is a great spell, but the 15 minutes really ruins it.

It needs to be reduced to somewhere between 5-10 minutes to become really useful.

I think it's [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] that you need corpses to use this spell.

It's not like we need a corpse to summon a zombie pet or bones to summon a skeleton. :smileymad:

It does not require bodies. If you don't have any corpses nearby, it summons three pets by default.

I would be very happy with a compromise of 6 dumbfires for undead tide. No corpses required but we lose 6. Seems perfectly fair to me.

Or the spell could use our essences. One per minion. Gives us another use for them.

If you want to get 12 pets out reliably here is what you do.

Go to nest with a group and when stepping onto the elevator say something like "please do not loot the trash corpses coming next - going to use them to kill the named" Sorted. On the named pull simply cast Tide, Dogs, Stench, Snake thingy and send in your own pet. Hit compulsion and spend the rest of the (short) fight slacking and making jokes about your 18 strong undead army in group chat.

Of course you may have 2 necros in group....

Only time I've seen more than 4-5 was in Longshadow alley. AE a big pile of spiders then cast tide on one thats left. Lich proc killed the spider and my army stayed up for a good few seconds. Not much use obviously but at least it entertained a couple of newbies.

Don't get me wrong. I think this spell has some great potential especially if PC bodies could be used. I've only been able to cast it on 3 corpses max but it looks cool to see both fighters and casters and they do a good amount of damage. The situation I've found it effective in is if you go up against 2 consecutive linked groups. I have fooled around with is in solo scenerios but the real damage comes in with raids.

If you can chain pull a couple of groups and nobody loots the trash and then go against a linked named, It may be seen as over powered. Maybe I have just been caught up in the moment because with a 15 min timer, its rare that its popped and the conditions are right at the same time but they seem to shorter the fight. I like that it requires corpses and not just a 6 spawn dumbfire because when you get it off at the right time it's a glorious battle to watch.

Message Edited by Jai1 on 03-30-200604:57 AM

What I think would be a really good adjustment to this spell is make more undead tide pop as mobs in the encounter die.

So if you pull a mob wiht 4 buddies in the same encounter...you cast UT and get 3 skeles.

As the 1st mobs dies, you 1-3 more, next one, you get 1-3 more, until the encounter is over.

The way it stands now it is very very rare to have more than 4-5 out.
