A good side necromancer - no I dont think so.

Just completed this myself, was a really fun quest and quite a journey. Suggest you start at Lv 15, certainly before Lv 17 by speaking with a guy on the top floor of Fish's Ale house in QH. Before progressing however remember to remove all items from your house, relinquishing ownership. Put them in your regular bank (not the shared slots). Clear out your bags and bring only provisions - have lots of empty slots one of the steps is killing 500 orcs.

Walk thru here --> http://eq2.ogaming.com/db/quests/QeynostoFreeportBetrayal.php

Enjoy

Nope, it's covered in the Necromancer FAQ, which is stickied, and its also in the manual that game with the game (you did read it didn't you?) :

Q. Can I become a necromancer in Qeynos?A. Nope, necromancer is only available to residents of Freeport. You cannot become a necro then betray to Qeynos either since the betrayal quest locks your character at level 17 'til you complete it and you can't start the necromancer subclass quest 'til level 18.
If you're not too attached to your character or your race yet, it would probably be better to start over with a new, Evil character instead of a Good character. That way you won't need to do the betrayal quest. (For the record, only High Elves, Dwarves, Frogloks, Wood Elves, and Halflings NEED to Betray to become Evil).

Dear Innoruuk, we've prevailed!", which actually is kinda cool.
The "first npc" on the docks that usually give you your initial freeport quests keeps shouting to you like they have a quest, but of course they don't. But they never stop shouting at you, which is annoying every time you go back to a suburb.
A lot of the guards have an emote of "they sense you don't belong here."
But the betrayal isn't nearly as bad as it used to be. When it was first being done, the 1-3g penalty was a lot of money. Now... hehe. That's chump change.
