When Lleeeerrrroooyyy!! goes runnin off after god knows what, you can summon him back to your side. Or, you can park your pet, go to a camp, summon him to you, w/out all the pathin problems, or worrying about him keeping up with your horse, etc.

It's much easier than resummoning your pet. You have to rebuff your pet once you resummon him. With Call of the Servant, you simply bring him back to your side no matter where in the zone he decided to wander off to.This spell was actually supposed to be in EQ2 since the original Beta. For some reason, it never made it in until now.

im hoping that this has something to do with taking griffon rides etc and not having to unsummon/resummon everytime.

maybe just /pet stay then summon pet?

would be nice.

It will be as described above which is something I have been wanting since day 1. I was amazed to find it was wasn't included in he first place.

I presume the only reason this spell has been brought in is because it's a quick fix till they can be bothered to sort out the pet pathing problems.

It's tied heavily to zone geometry, something that is not easy to change.

I saw how bad pathing was last night --- good thing it was in a limited area, as I'm not sure where my pet would have ended up if she had more room to run.... I was in SP: Upper Tunnels, fighting down to the main area (this place is good if I'm feeling particularly antisocial) I was in the last room where you get the board to cross the abyss before actually heading down to the main SP area. I had pulled 3 of the errrm...globule mist thingies that hang out over the abyss? Can't remember their exact name. Had sicced pet on them when they reached me, jumped behind, cast dumbfire pets...so my back was to that large platform/plateau area there. Pet is closer to wall, facing the plateau. Mobs go down, and pet takes off running...I'm thinking [Removed for Content]..did a mob range dd me from further back and I resisted without realising I had an add? So I turn to look...and see my pet run up over the top of the plateau, down the other side, across to the wall opposite me, UP the wall, did a kind of half circle turn around, back OVER the plateau, and comes to a stop in front of me. Okay.....LOL After having a good laugh, and being grateful I wasn't in a much larger area for her to run clear to some neighboring zone, I thought of this upcoming fix and was happy ~Yira

Hehe thats a nice one : )

My favorite pet pathing bug was from a long time ago. I was in the CL at the gate to Nek (I was probably going to go xp in Nek - yup, that long ago) and I stopped at the zone in and crazy old Xibantik just kept going. He went through the gate and just started running through the "tunnel" to Nek - which isnt even a part of the map. I was laughing until I couldnt see him any more and then I just zoned in.

That was a fun/odd pathing problem - not the nasty variety we see today.

Even if the pathing was decent though (it will never be perfect) summon pet is something which we should have regardless for pet control. Its just one of those abilities as a pet class we need. I don't see it so much as a band aid as something we needed anyway. I always had it close to hand and shall again here too. Be happy guys.. :smileywink:

I think it is more in response to the increase in run speed hence mount speed and us waiting 5 mins for our pets to catch up to us.

Sometimes I like to park my scout pet in melee range so that it doesn't keep running back behind me every time the current target dies. When I do that, I sometimes forget to tell it to follow me again and I end-up wondering what happened after my party has moved on. Also, on a number of occasions I've had my pet miss evac. I'm glad to see this one coming.

The lift thing must be a new one, my pet is always there when I step off the lift. Only time I have needed this spell was after I got my 48% carpet, but even then it was no biggy (but I agree it will have a use now). I wasn't particularly having a go about this, simply stating a fact as I saw it. And yes Xalmat I am fully aware of the pathing issues so please dont patronise me :smileywink:. My issue with the pathing is that it was yet another bug introduced as part of a live update, everything was fine for a long time and then the pets went loopy again.

Here's why this spell is bad - the pet shouldn't get lost in the first place.

So whereas sorcerers are getting useful anti-agro spells, we're getting a spell that temporarily fixes a problem that shouldn't occur. I'm thankful for it think the spell should have been standard from the start - or the problem fixed - and we should also get a useful spell like the sorcerers.

Has anyone mentioned cast/recast times?

What spells are sorcerers getting that you think we need?

Be very very grateful that we (and rangers) haven't been stomped on with a nerf steamroller, given that sorcerors are like half our dps on raids. Speaking of cast times, how about those 4 sec cast times on Ice Comet and all the Warlock AOE lines?

Where is it? Is it here already? I'm not seeing it in my book.

Well the for once the sorcerers have something on us. Yes our dps is higher on all but group mobs but if anyone needed an anti-agro spell is was us. The pet summon spell is nice but since the problem shouldn't exist, the spell is a band-aid.

i wish they would just fix how a mob can be right on top of you and the pet can't attack it. take it back to the way it was it wasn't over powered or anything this is just freaking annoying.

regardless of pathing or mount speeds this spell will be helpfull on raids when jousting is required. You can leave the pet in a lil longer without being afraid its gonna catch the aoe on the way back to us.

armus550 wrote: but if anyone needed an anti-agro spell is was us

Uh? That is a quite amazing statement. Ask any sorceror you group or raid with about his aggro problems. Trust me, they really really need a de-aggro spell. We split aggro between us and all our pets, and rangers have numerous aggro reducing buffs and spells. Sorcerors have nothing and it severely hurts their raid DPS.

There are countless reasons to have this in our spell lineup. I don't get why people are moaning about it. Part of the issues with pet classes are pathing issues. Yes they should continually strive to make improvements which I'm sure they will but if you can't accept the tools to help you control your pet then you won't enjoy your class at all. It was necessity in eq1, necessity here and likely next generation games with pet classes. Some day a developer will solve it all and we will all be too old to play games anymore. (Not sure about last bit )

Message Edited by Uanelven on 12-16-2005 05:29 AM
