As a 28 Necro, the Undying Adherent (tank pet) is my bread and butter soloing and I have noticed over the weekend (basically since the patch) that my adherent is not holding aggro as well against groups of mobs while I am soloing. I try to limit myself to taking on groups of blues or lower so its not as if I'm having this problem against yellows. I even had a sitaution where working on a quest, I sent the pet in against a group of 5 green heroic v v mobs and as soon as I cast my first single target nuke (not aoe) on the mob, the other four which the pet had taunted at the start of the fight broke from him and came to me, and he was not able to taunt them off me at all for the rest of the fight. It was the first time I had to kite in who knows how long, hehe. Anyhow, I just wondered if anyone else had noticed any problems or if perhaps I just have had bugged pets?

No real problems last night and Saturday that I noticed myself. Sometimes grouped mobs can be a bit scattered, and if the UA taunts while they are out of range they will run to you if you cause any hate.

Sometimes it does take a few moments for my UA to taunt (I look for the flame on the head graphic), so I typically am cautious until I see that go off. Not sure why you are having problems. What is the spell grade for UA? If it is not at least Adept I, you might try to get it higher, since his taunt is only as good as his spell quality. Mine is Adept 3, and i have hard time pulling aggro off him once he gets it.

Not sure if this is related (24 necro here). However it appears that my level 23 tellerian recruit ad3 taunts and tanks better than my level 24 undying adherant ad3. Any suggestions on how to get the UA to taunt as well as the TR? If I pulling a mob with a simple dot, the TR will taunt it on intercept and I will rarely get agro. If I do the same using the UA, I virtually always get agro. This is pulling with darkness. I realize that since the TR isn't going to get any more levels this is academic, but i am pretty disappoint with the UA. What can i do? Thanks

I have noticed that the UA tends to taunt later (ie, not immediately) than the TR did. Just my observations, but I think being dead makes my pet a bit more lazy

Also, if your UA is not adept 3, like your TR is, you may simply be noticing that he is not as good at taunting due to the difference in spell grades. T3 rares are easy to find, harvest some, and get that UA up to Adept 3 pronto, if he's not already there

BTW, I advise against pulling mobs with any damage spell. At later levels, you do NOT want a mob to beat on you most of the times.

Pull with your Grisly Mark, a debuff, or a root/slow/snare, if you absolutely must pull.

I prefer however, to pull with my pet. Much safer, and initial aggro on the pet makes it that much harder for me to get hate later on myself. That may be part of your problem. Good hunting!

Thanks for the responses. To answer a few questions I see have been asked or implied: My UA is at Adept3, when I pull I have been sending the pet in and waiting until he does damage to the mob before I begin nuking it. The problem has been happening with groups of mobs. I send him in wait til he does damage then hit one of my debuffs (either Grisly Mark or Clinging Darkness) then begin my HO chain*. At this point the other mobs (when this has been happening, its not always) then turn and run to me. (and yes they are much closer to my pet than I am to them.) It is not an event that is happening consistantly, but it does seem to happen after I have been playing for an hour two with the same pet...(which is why I wonder if it's a situation where my pet becomes bugged) Thanks again for the comments and input.

* my HO chain starts with one of our Blast line spells (currently have Pestilential Blast), followed by either PB again or by Blight depending on whichever type the HO chain calls for next, but to be clear the mobs are already coming toward me before I even start the HO chain so I have often been forced to change targets and get the pet to attack another target that is on me to try and pull the aggro off of me.
