View Full Version : So with the new combat changes (and con system?) what level mobs can we reasonably solo?

<DIV>Coming back after a few months, since the new combat changes (and I think the different con system?) I'm wondering what other necros out there are soloing?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm 46, and can take ^^^ greens, but I tried two ^^^ blues yesterday (same mob - some type of lamia in RV), but they killed my pets (tried both assassin and tank pets).  Luckily they were almost dead, so I nuked them a couple times and killed them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Are we limited to about ^^^ blues, ^^ blues (maybe ^^^ blues), and even cons?  Or are some necros out there successfully soloing even cons or higher with up arrows on them?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm curious, because maybe with all the changes I just haven't figured out the best spell chaining for me, or maybe things are just tougher than they were before, so am looking for feedback on what kinds of mobs other necros are soloing.  Thanks!</DIV>

<P>Generally speaking, most soloers (any class) will not be handling blue+ heroic ^^^ mobs post-DoF combat revamp. Even green ones can be lethal, depending on how far green and what they do. Note that ^^ are also considered heroic, so it's iffy whether one can or cannot handle a blue+ one as well. (Heroics are meant to be that now, 2 or 3+ people group mobs.)</P> <P>Mobs that are ^ are considered solo challenge, however, and a Necro should be able to handle blue, white, and yellow ^ mobs. Also, as the pet now group taunts, a Necro can easily manage grouped mobs easily (non-heroic), which are pretty good xp. (Such as in Splitpaw.)</P> <P>Tip: Upgrade your solo and group lifetaps to as high as possible. </P>

The most you'll be reasonably able to solo with all Apprentice IVs and handcrafted gear is a white no-arrow mob, and low green/borderline grey 3-arrows. All Adept Is and Treasured gear, you can take out some yellow no-arrows and some white 1-arrows, and low/mid-green 3-arrows. Legendary gear/Legendary crafted gear and Adept IIIs and you'll be able to take out almost all yellow no-arrows, some yellow 1-arrows, (if you're skilled enough) white or low-yellow 2-arrows, and some high green 3-arrows. Blue ^^^ is a very high challenge even for those in Fabled and all Master I spells, but definitely not out of the question. This is all relative, mind you.

At lvl 50 I was able to take white con ^^^ 50 heroic Sandgiants in SS. This was with an adapt 3 Thrall, Master 2 defensive buff, all other spells Adapt 1. Now my pet was beat down to the red or sometimes even killed so it wasn't good for XPing but it was doable. Now at 51 with the same setup I'm easly able to do the blue con 47-48^^^ Spectres by the SS docks. <p>Message Edited by evhallion on <span class=date_text>12-05-2005</span> <span class=time_text>11:27 AM</span>

<P>Thanks for the info - Most all my spells are Adept 1.  I'm extremely unlucky finding rares (total rares I've found in my EQ2 career during getting all harvesting skills to T5: one) and I don't have the cash to afford to buy them, so I only have a couple Adept 3s.</P> <P>So I'm guessing that me killing those ^^^ lamias (even though my pet died both times) was really more dumb luck than anything.  Guess I'll need to find some no-arrow white cons to make XPing worthwhile.</P>

<P>As far as cash goes... get to Sinking Sands and do all the quests you can lay your hands on, and especially do the Grifter's Quests in Maj'Dul to 1) raise faction with your chosen court and the money is ungodly in them.  I easily make 20-50 gold a night and get a boatload of xp along the way.  If you save, you can rack up a few plat in a week's time.  Then those spell upgrades are cake.</P> <P> </P> <P>Gilron Darkscales</P> <P>49 Iksar Necromancer Mistmoore</P> <P>"The scales are tipped in my favor... <DIV>If you have enough room you can kite ^^^ heroic named solo <EM>without your pet</EM> by snare/root/nuking.  Helps to have lich though because it takes awhile.  You can recycle pets onto the mob and switch between kiting and fighting to make it faster if you want.  There's quite a lot necs are still capable of.  I don't like trying this on mobs that are more than 2 levels higher than me though because of resists...but you can use your hex doll every couple minutes to help your spells stick.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Nosewarts on <span class=date_text>12-06-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:00 AM</span>
