View Full Version : Quit playing shortly before combat changes - what changed for necros?
<DIV>I have a level 46 ratonga necro, and I quit playing (needed a break) shortly before the much-talked-combat changes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've looked over some of the notes for the various live updates since I quit, but I can't really find anything that details how things changed for necromancers.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Was thinking about getting back into EQ2, but I'd like to know how the combat changes affected us necros? What were the major changes for our class? Can we solo worse, same, or better as before? (I did a lot of soloing just because of my weird work hours, and will probably continue to solo a lot).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>EDIT: Forgot to ask...was there any kind of respec of skills, training, etc, following the combat changes? There wasn't mention of one in the live update notes I read. If there was, what's the command to respec things? Thanks</DIV><p>Message Edited by Kronor on <span class=date_text>11-28-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:23 PM</span>

I'm going to borrow a snipplet from my Conjuror FAQ to answer your question. In addition, you should read the Necromancer FAQ, which is sticked. (Chup, you should consider adding this to your FAQ <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> )<HR><B>Q. What changed for Necromancers with Live Update 13?</B>A. In a word, a LOT. The game isn't even the same; it's better, and harder. Before jumping back into the fray, open your spell book and sort your spells by Level (Reversed), and read each and every spell description. Many of our spells aren't the same in any way that you probably remember. Get a feel for the class by taking out weak opponents (such as greys or very low greens) before moving back up to harder monsters. If you were used to soloing high yellows and oranges before Live Update 13, you better think again about trying them now. They got a HUGE upgrade. The same goes for heroic mobs. Gear and spell upgrades make a MUCH bigger difference than it did before; if you're only an average equipped Conjuror with mostly Apprentice IV spells, you don't stand a chance against white-con heroics. Most blue-con heroics are out of the question as well.<HR>Edit: All classes receive a forced respec. The level 10, 20, etc Adept II choices are gone, and are instead replaced with level 14, 24, 34 etc Master II choices (pick one of four spells you're presented with, and upgrade that one to Master II).<p>Message Edited by Xalmat on <span class=date_text>11-29-2005</span> <span class=time_text>12:09 AM</span>

<DIV>You will get an automatic respec when you login again and you should also be able to issue the /respec command one time after that should your choices prove to be less than ideal.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Yes, much has changed... but overall, most of it is for the better.</DIV>
