Adepts when to and when not to get them

<DIV>Hey gang - Right now I have a level 28 Necro and to this point have made adept III's for every spell up to this point.  A lot of my time is spent killing and harvesting at the same time so most of the rares have not been bough but harvested.  Doing this I learned that most of the DOT spells do not upgrade enough to bother with making them Adept III.  To this point the ones that seem to be the most important to use upgrading to at least Adept III are the pets, of course, pet buffs, pet heals and life taps.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have looked over the threads and it seems to be the same with most.  Now that level 30 is comming around and I will have to start making a whole new set of Adepts are their any do's and don'ts.   What should I not waste my time with.</DIV>

Get Ad3's as soon as you can...specifically the main pets you will be using...id wait till higher levels to get a lot of your nukes mostly cause finding them lower levels might be rought but at eqsummoners.com you can find a nice list of spells and a discussion on what the best spells are to upgrade in what order according to the posters opinions there...worth a look see. <div></div>

When you start hitting tier 5 and tier 6 spells, DOT's are important spells to upgrade.  When you find out how important DOT's are is when you start grouping up and take harder heroics and epics.  Plus DOT's are a good way to do damage while your pet is tanking since it won't generate too much hate against you.

Review both the necro FAQ that's stickied, as well as my <a href=http://eq2.eqsummoners.com/viewtopic.php?t=1894 target=_blank>Necromancer Adept III</a> list for suggestions. Pretty much upgrade your pets, pet buffs, swarm pets first (the closer you are to the upgrade, the higher the priority).

<DIV>Thanks for both the sites.  They were both helpful, especially the one with Adept III rankings.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My toon has it pretty easy.  Being a Sage there is almost always 2-5 levels worth of spells sitting in a bag on hand waiting for the next Ding.  That way there is no unwanted call home just to scribe the next upgrade.  The only time she hits home is if a rare is harvested for Adept III or other supplies are needed.  All of my T2 spells are Adept III and almost all of my T3 are also Adept III, have already started working on my Adept III pets for T4 as well.  Always doing my pets first followed by pet buffs, taps and so on.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The question that I have about DOT's is are they really worth the Adept III upgrade.  I understand how important they are now.  I send pet, rats, DeBuffs, DOT's than DD/Taps.  Have tested many times and always find that with them the Mob or Mobs drop faster.  The thing is that when I crafted an Adept III for one of the DOT's it really did not add that much DOT to the spell.  Do you see a big change at higher levels?  Or did I just not look at it correctly?  If not I was going to keep them at AP IV or Adept I.  If my thinking is wrong let me know.  Love this class and if it will probably soon become my main.</DIV>

Combination of Adept III spells and a very high amount of INT will lead to mega huge damage from your DoTs. However the majority of damage will be from your swarm pets (as long as they don't die early).

<DIV>Sweet.  Right now sitting at level 28 but as soon as hit 30 will be getting all new hook on equipment with all INT bonus stats, at least I hope so.</DIV>

<DIV>The only spells I would worry about getting to adept 3 would be pets...mainly your tank pet for soloing. That is untill you hit 45 ish. You see, you will be leveling so fast that you will out grow those lower level spells before you know it and it really is a waste of rares. Save all your cash to buy good imbued equipment and have all your 45+ spells made adept3.</DIV>

<P>^^^^^^</P> <P>I agree. Unless you harvest lots of rares anyway or enjoy mentoring a lot, I wouldn't bother adept3 any spells below 47 aside from pets and stances.  Everything from 47+ does not get anymore upgrades and eventually should be adept3 or master.</P>
