<DIV>I wanted to post this to get some ideas on how to handle the tough single mob encounter ( I don't want to focus on what tough means to you...people differ and it is a huge distraction when people start boasting, calling for nerf, whatever).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyway, as a 56 necro, here is how I prepare/execute(pun intended) against a single bad mofo:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><STRONG>Preparation:</STRONG></DIV> <DIV>-Pet: tank</DIV> <DIV>-Stance: defensive</DIV> <DIV>-Charm: highest level mob possible single-up arrow or below</DIV> <DIV>-Drawing of souls: all six spells available (don't need them all just feel better lol)</DIV> <DIV>-All self buffs up and running</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><STRONG>Execution:</STRONG></DIV> <DIV>Assume target is all alone just waiting for you <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Attack</DIV> <DIV>-cast unstoppable soul on pet (+14% heal is very nice)</DIV> <DIV>-send in pet(s)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Cast dumbfires (These are up the entire fight and are key to get out there early)</DIV> <DIV>-cast dogs</DIV> <DIV>-cast stench</DIV> <DIV>-cast servile soul</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Mitigate/heal (Once dumbfires are away, main focus is trying to keep pet alive long enough for dps to win the day)</DIV> <DIV>-cast stun</DIV> <DIV>-cast HoT</DIV> <DIV>-cast exchange life</DIV> <DIV>-cast siphon life</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Pet health check-in:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Pet health > mob health?</DIV> <DIV>-Good news you will likely win!</DIV> <DIV>-cast quick cast spells for lich proc (dooming, cast dots etc)</DIV> <DIV>-keep an eye on pet health to see if mitigation necessary.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Pet health dropping too fast?</DIV> <DIV>-Could be grim. Must decide between continue mitigation or burn mode. Almost always mitigation is better.</DIV> <DIV>-cast exchange life</DIV> <DIV>-cast fear (yeah it breaks quick but it acts like a variable duration stun)</DIV> <DIV>-cast healing spell from drawing of souls</DIV> <DIV>-cast siphon</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Other mitigation ideas that I haven't played with enough to comment on:</DIV> <DIV>-Cast root. This likely ends fast with a fear component that will help mitigate</DIV> <DIV>-Cast seism. Not sure if this regularly lands, but I'm going to experment to see if this helps disrupt the bad guys.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any other ideas/strats for handling the big single target? (and let's assume the target is a caster to rule out the root/snare monotony :smileywink: )</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>GS</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
With some careful planning and quick clicking you can also stunt large targets into several mini fights.- Drop Pet and Dumbfire mobs- Heal pet for 1 minute till dogs die, don't over nuke, just siphon to keep health up!- Root mob, and recall pet- Destroy pet (Yes, this will transfer agro to you, I know, but it costs less health than healing the pet)- Recast pet and buff while mob is stunned. Then send in new pet while stunning, then snaring. Ok, depending on the mob, the 2nd pet will usually regain agro before the mob recovers from stun, and sometimes the snare buys be the few extra seconds for the pet to steal agro. Either way, the 2nd torrent of pets is usually enough to kill tougher ^^^ mobs.I think 1 key is to not be too low on health when you send pet the 2nd time. If you're orange or worse, I think mob mechanics makes them VERY hard to keep off you! I've actually rooted the tough mob while I fought a couple of extra lowbie mobs to recover health.

Yah get an imbued hex doll that slows the target. This will help the pet last longer even though it seems to be like fear and drops fairly quickly. Since it is a long cast time I usualy start the fight out with it and cast it again if there is time between all the other spells.

<P>For non-caster mobs only. </P> <P>Pet: Assassin pet in offensive stance. Spell lineup: Lich, Darkness, Convulse (or whatever root is called), Siphon Life and whatever the 4 second, medium damage dot is called. </P> <P>Root mob. If resisted, then darkness. </P> <P>Siphon Life. If root or darkness breaks, re-apply whichever spell is available. If it does not break, Convulse then nuke then Siphon Life then Darkness. </P> <P>Cast Siphon Life as often as possible, and follow it up with Darkness. Darkness is a 1 or 2 second casting spell, so as long as you have sufficient space between you and the mob, you can get it off just about every time without getting hit. When Convulse refreshes, cast that one, followed by a nuke, Siphon Life and Darkness. Keep root available and throw that on when possible, doubling it up with Darkness to keep the mob away from you. </P> <P>If the mob comes to you and actually hits you, pet will engage. After about 3 rounds of nuke / darkness / roots, he will not be able to get aggro off you, but he will get in a few hits. As soon as you see him attacking, pet back off and then darkness if available or root. Sometimes you'll get lucky and get a proc and/or a shadestrike for 1500 damage. Set up hotkeys right next to each other so you'll just have to press, say, 8 and 9 back to back for backoff and Darkness. Once darkness (or root) fires, back out of melee range. </P> <P>The lich proc will add a boatload of damage, making the battle go fairly quickly, even against even con ^^^ mobs. Tap pet when (if) you need power. Watch out for adds. </P> <P>For casting mobs, see the strategies above. </P> <P> </P>
