I think I saw on the description of the spell that its a 48 sec duration and yet it never seems to last very long. Is it a spell that cant be used if there is other damage being done?

Thanks!

Correct, the Clinging Darkness line is supposed to break when damage (other than itself) is dealt.

/bug it then.I think most snares have an innate chance of breaking every few seconds anyway. Wouldn't surprise me if the same thing is supposed to happen with the Clinging Darkness line.

What would you use darkness for if it doesn't stack with other dots or damage spells? Is it pretty much an escape spell?

At 50+ it is mainly used for another lich proc, and sometimes used to pull or for CC but not the most effective at either of the later.

The L51 spell at Adept III is 91% snare! Darn near a second root.3. The spell does not auto-break on any damage. Damage has a CHANCE to break the snare. Similar to how damage has a chance to break root. The better quality the spell, the better chances are you won't break the snare. My Adept III typically goes 3 or more spell hits before breaking. Its great when I'm pet pulling and wanna give the tank or pet tank time to taunt.4. it is good for escape... not fool proof, but its good. Hit the named ^^^ mob with it, and run away.5. It procs lich!

Heh, i have no idea what "procs Lich" means but then again I'm just level 19. It sounds like something good though

Never mind I looked it up, and found out its pretty much the same as the Lich line in EQ1.. just didn't occur to me because mana regens so fast in this game it didn't seem like those spells would be needed, and I wouldn't think of those spells as "procing". According to the description though, ANY hostile spell procs it.. Is that not the case?

Lich is pretty much the necro's class defining spell and is attained at lvl 50.

It gives you 1% power back every tick (2% at master 1) for the cost of some health and also has a very nice proc associated with it. Everytime you cast a disease based spell (95% of our spells are disease based by then including stun and root) it hits the target for an additional amount of damage and heals you. At ad3 it was hitting for a max of 411 damage and healing me for 74 at a raid two nights ago. It procced 46 times which adds up to alot of damage :smileyhappy:

Message Edited by Eirgorn on 10-28-2005 11:50 AM

Lich is a great little L50 spell. It adds 300 or so damage to any disease based spell you land.- So that semi useless snare not hits for 300 immediate damage, plus its normal effect.- That 100 per tick DoT hits for 300 + its immediate DoT damage- My Siphon spell is currently hitting for 1000 + 300 for Lich.- Dumbfire pets... all disease based, so casting them does 300 damag each! It's a great little spell.

The procing lich part will make me use this more but at my level (30), I'm using it less and less since I finally started watching my maintained spells window (so I can watch my root timers). I had EQ1 in mind and would have thought the spell would be so easy/quick to break (yes, my mistake I know) and was appauled at the results. :smileymad: I typically lead off with the spell because of the large ghostly image of the mob you get so the group knows what specifically I'm pulling. Besides using it as a pull or escape spell, I'm not in the least bit impressed with it's usefullness, apart from proccing lich in 20 levels. :smileytongue:

Message Edited by DantesInfern0 on 11-01-2005 11:52 AM

You're still a lowbie. The L51 version is freaking fantasic at adept 3. NO, you won't be fear kiting EQ1 style. That won't be happening in EQ2 ever, but the L51 at adept 3 is 91% snare that I've seen hold a mob for several seconds while getting beaten on by 6 very nasty pets!
