Your LVl 38 Pet is Really Going to be the But Kicker and the one you want Adept 3 or master. I dont know that I Personaly would send alot of money on Adept 3 spells till you reach you 40-60's I jsut found that I was LVLing So fast at that Time it was not worth it. But thats jsut my 2 cents

I'd buy the rare (it HAS to be cheaper than that) and get a sage to make you the adept3. Even with fees, it is almost certainly cheaper than buying the spell outright.

I agree with buying the rare and finding a sage. At most a decent sage should charge you no more than 5g for that combine (I am a sage and only charge 2 on t3 adepts), and you could probably pick up that rare for around 25-30g, maybe less. I got a couple jaspers on Grobb for 20g each the other day. Its a bit more work than just buying the spell, but it really can save you quite a bit.

One thing I should add to the conversation that I forgot earlier is to ALWAYS price-watch rares. The low-end price can vary by 10g or more, thus saving you a fair amount of money if you don't need the rare NOW (for example, I already have my rare for my 38 pet, though I'm 37 now). I've even gotten T4 rares as low as 15g this way. When it's NOT an emergency to buy, that's when you can look for the deals. And if you can make friends with an alchemist that can convert the rares into inks for cheap (hopefully your guild alchemist will do this for free, or nearly so) do that, as it's MUCH easier (and cheaper) to find a sage willing to adept3 you when you say you have the rare to ink stage already.

The alchemist needs to be 30 or above with the advanced books for the ink, and the sage levels USUALLY go directly along the spell levels, so for a 38 spell (like the pet) you need a 38 sage with the advanced book. Also, if they have the advanced apothecary book for that level, sometimes the sage can do it all him/herself, not needing an alchemist at all.

Thanks for the super quick response

I'll check the market tonight for that rare, I'm guessing it would probably be out of my price range even if I do find it for sale but I might be able to borrow some from a guildie . Any idea how much it averages for?

Hmm, I thought that was the price for rares used for Adept 3s? Is the same rare used for Master 1 versions of that spell or am I just silly for thinking a Master 1 Rotting Thrall even exists?

Ack sorry for any confusion. That is the price for the rare for the adept 3s, Master 1's are only found as drops off of MoBs.

Doh figured it wasn't going to be as easy. Adept 3 shouldn't be too bad so I'll try to get that.

And by Mobs you mean Epic raidable ones? .. or do higher lvl heroic mobs have a chance of dropping Master 1s? Say a lvl56 ^^^ heroic drops a lvl38 Master 1

Any mob has a chance to drop a master chest - which in turn has a chance to drop a master.

The more difficult the encounter, the more likely it is to drop a master chest. Some epic encounters drop master chests 100% of the time but have long lock out periods, and other epics have varying chances of dropping master chests. Heroic and solo encounters can also drop them, but its very rare. So far Ive only seen one master chest drop off of a non epic encounter (2 nights ago) and it dropped a lvl 58 master spell.

Monsters usually drop treasure that is the same tier as they are, so if you want a lvl 38 master you would probably want to hunt in high T4/low T5 zones.

All said and done though, in the time it would take to get it to drop - you could probably level to 52 and start using the next tank pet. However, the ad3 version is really nice and should do just fine. Just keep checking the broker for the master and you may get lucky.

That's really cool, I've never seen a master chest but hopefully I can get one sometime

The Adept 3 RT should be more than enough anyway so I'm sure I'll be pretty happy with it and then I can look forward to getting the lvl52 Master 1 as I imagine I might start raiding with my guildies and have a better chance of getting it.

Thanks for your help!

The Rotting Thrall Master 1 drops from the Golems in the Ruins of Varsoon. I bought one off the broker about 6 months ago for 2p. This is the only place I have ever heard of it dropping. Go hunt in there and hope you get really lucky. I've yet to see the Diseased Servant (52) or the Nightshade (60) master pets, but they've both been discovered, so I guess someone has seen them. :smileytongue:

ivo.kirov wrote:
Wow, I never realized they were so rare!

The upgrade in HP and DPS must be significant.

10-15% upgrade in the main stats, Adept 3 -> Master, is about the norm. No reason that DS would be any different. They're a status symbol to some extent, but if you get enough of them there is a noticeable increase in the character's combat effectiveness. Particularly true with pets and pet buffs, because the upgrades are usually multiplicative ather than additive. So you get a kind of "compound interest effect" ... 115% x 115% = 132% for example
