<DIV>Okay, I've been playing about a month and have made it to 38 on my Necromancer.  I've been pretty lucky so far and here is where I'm at.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Adept 3 Rotting Thrall (Godly)</DIV> <DIV>Adept 3 Locust Swarm</DIV> <DIV>Adept 3 Plague of Rats</DIV> <DIV>Adept 3 Ghastly Stench</DIV> <DIV>Adept 3 Draw Health (Lifetap)</DIV> <DIV>Master 2 Transfer Health  (Freebie)<BR>Adept 1 for all the rest.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm out of T4 Rares and figure I'll start concentrating on T5's.  I'm also up to about 2 plat in coin.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So with that in mind, what should my approach be at 40+?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I solo mostly but hope to group more in the future.   I've yet to find an updated spell list so hard to project what to go Adept 3 on when I don't even know what's coming up.  Or should I start worrying more about gear?  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Are there any more T4's that I need?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'd appreciate any info.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Chumm</DIV><p>Message Edited by Chummm on <span class=date_text>10-11-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:03 PM</span>

Swarm of Bats is what you are missing out of tier .  This spell can and will be used some all the way to level 60.

Have you read the FAQ?

<P>Yes I have.  Repeatedly.</P> <P>Some of the info is great.  But as the poster stated, he grouped mostly.  At present (and until I catch up with my guild) I'll be soloing the vast majority of the time. </P> <P>But regardless of that fact, a FAQ is by no means comprehensive.  That's why I seek others' opinions on the subject.  And I also didn't notice the date so I don't know if it was before the CU or after.  </P> <P>I hate the thought of peoples' questions being ignored because it's something covered in the vaunted FAQ.  If I wanted to copy the FAQ poster's steps, one by one, I would.  But I feel a wider array of opinions are far more helpful than a single source.</P> <P>The FAQ is great, but anyone who follows it by the letter might not get as much out of the game and their character as they otherwise would.</P> <P> </P>

All other spells not listed as Adept3 I have got in Adept1 form. Yea...Chub's faq pretty much says it all...you can still ask your questions, just don't be too surprised if the best answers are already there. Hey Chub, might be a good idea to edit the FAQ's title and put "Updated on 10/14/05" or somesuch...would make it more clear that it's post LU13 (i think the original FAQ had that in there) <div></div>

I guess what I'm trying to say is "what spell should I upgrade?" is the most common question asked and has been debated quite a bit (and quite hotly sometimes) on this board.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Some people have personal preferences when it comes to certain spells and will upgrade them earlier than others... if there is something you really like you'll know it and upgrade that right away regardless of what anyone says on a messageboard.  At the same time, people will share that personal preference and you may get slightly skewed upgrade advice (ie. not optimum)... for instance, Urb likes the snares quite a bit whereas I don't care for them at all.  That is not to say that the snare is either horrible or wonderful, it's just personal preference whereas all my listed upgrades are quantifyably "upgrades" with the most use in most circumstances (and why the accursed cloud line isn't in there, either).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In general the necro's are big geeks when it comes to numbers... probably from trying to squeeze as much ability as possible from what was a very broken class for ten months.  Scan the first six pages or so of this board if you want to see all the discussions regarding most spells post revamp.  We spend alot of time discussing different spells and all the hard data is all around on this board, sometimes in very odd places.</DIV>

<P>Yep, gotta agree, Chup's done a great job on that FAQ. The two best sources I've found for making upgrade decisions has been this forum and also the Spells section over at Summoner's Tower. Found here: <A href="http://eq2.eqsummoners.com/viewforum.php?f=7" target=_blank>http://eq2.eqsummoners.com/viewforum.php?f=7</A> The Tower is pretty Conjuror heavy in its postings but it does have the best spell list for Necromancer's that I've seen. Just check out the Announcement and Sticky at the top of the spells forum for Necromancer Spell List and Necromancer Adept III upgrade path. Or something like that. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> </P> <P>Between that site, the FAQ on here, and my own play experience I've had more than enough information to make informed decisions regarding upgrades and solo and group tactics. </P>

Forgetting the "discussion" for the moment, an up-to-date spell list can be found stickied in the spell forum of the eqsummoners site <a href=http://eq2.eqsummoners.com/viewforum.php?f=7 target=_blank>here</a>. There's also other recommendations for adept3 upgrades also stickied, though they run almost exactly the same to the FAQ's suggestions.

<P>Thanks for the info.</P> <P> </P> <P>And yes, the FAQ is awesome.  And no, it doesn't differ much from other threads on the subject.  However:</P> <P>I browse from work which means I have little time to research through all the old threads</P> <P>and</P> <P>My experience with messageboards is almost exclusively the DAOC portion of VN boards.  So if anybody knows how that place is, you'll understand how many FAQ [Removed for Content] there are just dying to flame someone.</P> <P>So thanks for the hard work on the FAQ.  And thanks for the opinions.</P> <P>And to the last poster:   k.</P> <P> </P>
