I am wondering which pet to use? I would love to use another pet other than the fighter. I have upgraded the spellbinder and assassin both to adept I and my fighter is apprentice IV. Before they just had so little HP they died so quickly they were useless. Now though with the upgrade do you think they would be able to stand up to damage? Thanks for the help Merick 33 Necro <div></div>

Have you read the FAQ? All your questions are answered there.

<DIV>It depends. If you are solo, you need to use the tank pet because the shadow pet will still die quick. However, if someone else is tanking, use the shadow pet because his DPS is so much better than the fighter pet. From what I read here the general rule is:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>SOLO - Fighter pet</DIV> <DIV>Group Single Targets - Scout Pet</DIV> <DIV>Group Multi Targets - Warlock Pet</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The only thing is, when your in the group for using the scout pet and the warlock pet, this is assuming the group has a tank besides your pets. If so, the scout pet does fast DPS and strickly to single targets. The warlock pet takes a while to cast spells, but does AoE spells against the targets. Personally, I stick with the Shadow pet in all group instances because the warlock pet is just too weak and anytime he cast an AoE -- he always gets some aggro from some mob in the group that is not being directly taunted by the MT. Thats my 2 cents.</DIV>

I heard the scout pet has to be behind the target to use his max-damage styles.Thats not in the FAQ though, and I also heard it was changed with the CU.So, could anyone tell me what to watch out for with the scout pet? When I grind solo on yellow PoF harpies, my fastest XP per hour is got using the scout pet with offensive stance. We both charge in together, I fire off skinrot/accursed/siphon for solo mobs or torrential/accursed/siphon for grouped mobs, pet does the rest, and it's all over in 10-12 secs. Throw 1 or both heals on the pet, and he's ready for the next mob in a few more secs. My kill rate is basically as fast as accursed will recycle, plus time to loot corpses if I bother. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My main used to be a warlock, so this style seems kinda natural... hit them hard and fast with everything so they don't have time to beat your health bar down, that way aggro doesn't matter.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Topi Majora - 54 Necro, Legionnaires of Light, Blackburrow</DIV> <DIV>Topaz Majora - 50 Warlock, retired </DIV><p>Message Edited by XBrit on <span class=date_text>10-11-2005</span> <span class=time_text>11:25 AM</span>

Regardless, if grouped the assassin should always be behind mobs (train your tanks to turn mobs for you) since scout pets will die fast to riposte if they're in front of mobs.

<DIV>I only use the tank pet if I am trying to take out heroics or much higher cons otherwise it's just so much easier to send scout pet in and start lifetap nuking. If you use this tactic on blue and greens you will have very little downtime and kill very fast. It's worked for me so far and I don't see any signs of this tactic weakening.</DIV>
