Would appreciate some input. I've talked to each and both seem to like their class. What is the main difference? Do both get a healing spell or only Necro? How does the healing spell work?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure if you're about to ding to Level 20 its to late already.Necromancer can only be trained in Freeport, Conjurer only in Qeyonos. If you're in the "wrong" city, you have to betray... however betraying has to be done before you are 18.But to answer your question: I think only the necro gets the life-transfer. Both get heals for their pets though.
Message Edited by Jaince on 10-11-2005 05:01 AM

I just dinged 17 and I'm in Qeynos. I forgot that little fact about city. Do you happen to know the differences between Necros and Conjurors? I could turn off xp and do the betrayal or reroll.

Thanks!

If you are level 19 you are already committed to a class depending on what starting city you choose. Qeynos you will be a conj Freeport you will be a nec. Conj's cannot heal other character, just their pets. They have some different group buffs that give them some advantages. Necro's can transfer life to another character (portion of your life). The key is if you heal a character, follow up with a life tap and you will not see much health lose. I was actually duo'ing with a SK last night and was able to heal him to take out ^^ heroic's.

With 17 you can betray.I think once you start the betray quest it locks you to level 17 till you finish it. Kinda like you're locked to level 6 before you finish the citizen quest, or level 9 before you choose a class.Don't ask me how to betray though, I know it involves killing 500 orcs (no kidding) and a couple of named, but no idea where to start it

I think you need to consider the lore and your playstyle a bit before making your decision. For me, the Necro is the epitomy of evil, someone who dips into the magicks that others fear to dabble with. I enjoy my "dead master" role, and I really get into her character role. For me, the Necromancer holds a lot more roleplay interest than a Conjuror.

In the end, the Conjuror is going to have a stronger tanking pet, and the Necro a more offensive pet (scout). Necros get more lifetapping abilities, but also heal their pets are the cost of their own personal hitpoints - necessitating those lifetaps.

Pick what you like best. There is no clear advantage to either. Keep in mind that betraying takes just about as long as re-rolling a evil mage, so you might want to keep your goodie mage and work BOTH a necromancer and conjuror to 30 or so to get a taste of both.

Just know that if you betray, be prepared to feel like crap from the stuff you do. I'm not talking about the 500 orcs, or the 6 named (only one of which is ^^^ now), but the OTHER stuff. Giving the right answers (and you have to pay fines until you DO give the right ones) will make you feel like a piece of dog [Removed for Content] if you actually read through what you're doing to those people (it's pretty horrible in a beyond-mean sort of way).Have fun.=P

There is no comparison. Necros are IMO a much funner class to play. They are both about equal in DPS, but Necros have much more involved spell lines that just make the game more fun and interesting.

Necros live off sacrificing. In order to heal someone I must give up my own health. In order to drain power from my pet I must sacrifice his health. In order to have a constant damage bonus and power regen I must sacrifice my own health (Lich). In turn I can drain health from Mobs to make up for the losses.

Necros are always walking the fine line between life and death and that makes for a much more interesting game. Plus, I just like the undead type of thing anyways.

I just wish they would give us some cooler looking pets....
