Hi all; A couple of questions about necros:

I have read that necros have fear. However, I understand that with the CU, SOE has tried to eliminate kiting of any kind. Are necros able to fear kite?

I presently have a level 14 Gnome summoner on the Qeynos side. I once read that races that can be both good and evil, do not need to do the betrayal quest. Is this true? In other words, could I simply go to freeport and not be attacked without doing that quest.

Thanks for any and all help.

1. We could never fear kite either before or after the CU 2. Check the FAQ

1. No idea, I think fear breaks on damage. I use fear in groups mainly to get one mob out. Fear then 1 or 2 seconds later start to cast root. The mob usually is far enough away then to not be hit by AEs and can't attack either. If necessery re-do root after around 20 seconds.2. No if you started in Qeynos (choose Good at creation) then you have to do the betrayal quest. The "can be good or evil" means they can choose (at creation!) to be good or evil, nothing more. Other races like Trolls are set to Evil and others like High Elfes always to good.

1. SoE, for reasons known only to themselves, and for the excuse 'oh, we didnt intend it to work like that', have made every attempt to prevent kiting from working, right up to the point of making our snare line break if a mob takes damage. 2. I am a necromancer and a high elf - betrayed to Freeport, good races always start in qeynos, but you dont have to stay there (although I wouldnt want to be betraying post CU to be honest, getting people to take down the named orcs was bad enough then)

Thanks for the reply Tin. I do believe that the fear kiting thing has probably been rehashed to death, so Ill keep my comments to a minimum. I just loved fear kiting in EQ. It was so much fun to use the spells of whatever class it was in such a unique game. It gave me a feeling of uniqueness in that world. If I have a complaint about EQ2 its that all of the characters seem so generic. There is a blandness about them, that is really unfulfilling. It is this blandness that stops me from embracing the game fully. When I saw my first Necro riding a horse in Eq1, I thought: "Now that is power!" I get no such feeling in EQ2. Its a real shame because otherwise its superior to EQ in almost every way.

1. You can't really fear kite anything you couldn't kill in faster ways anyway.Snare and fear does not automatically break on any damage. One thing I do for kicks is this:-cast snare-cast our 2 DoT lines-cast fear.None of this breaks the original snare, and the mobs runs around really slow for a few seconds. vs blue or green v or vv mobs, this might actually do some noticable damage. But it takes SOOO much longer than just having your pet destroy it. Doing this to a ^^^ mob would really take entirely too long, you'd be better off using root & nuke.Once you get Lich, this is actually a nice tactic.2. "Good" chars live in Qeynos, "Evil" chars live in Freeport. Some races start as either one or the other, and some can start as either one. But ultimately, the Subclass you pick is only dependent on what city you're a citizen of when you hit level 20.So being a Erudite for example only matters becasue you can pick either city from the char creation screen. So you can ultimately be any subclass without having to betray. If you picked a dark elf though, they must be "evil" at the begining, you then MUST betray if you want to be any Qeynos based subclass.
