I know we are a pet class but what does everyone think about our DPS vrs others? I have seen the program that tells dps and I find myself as a necro being on the lower end of this compared to other classes. So would like to know what others think please share your thoughts.

depending on the group make up, I am usually the top DPS out of everyone. It used to be that i could only do this against single targets but now with the AoE Lifetap i can do 300+ no problem... especially with scout pet. (still need to get adept 3 warlock)

It all depends on what level you are. I found out that necros are really late bloomers. I am usually first or second in DPS when I group up. In long fights, i.e. raids, I am always number 1. Necros are sustained DPS characters, not burst like your tier 1 DPS'ers.

i do really good damage in groups i have the master 2 choice for level 54 and with my level 46 scout pet i do some pretty good damage. it seems on the few parses i have done that the scout pet with this and rending fury on it does more DPS than the master 1 version of my caster pet (scout is at adept 1) i don't know if it is just the mobs i normally fight or what but on average he does do more damage. it seems in the time i did it he got the proc off the stance alot more and also i think probably got more of a benefit out of the rending fury buff than the mage pet. will have to look at it more but agains level 57-59 giants in PoF scout works best it seems will have to do mor eparsing once i hit 60 though when i have the time. overall though we have really good DPS i have the highest in the group alot of timesexcept in short fights when a wizzy or someone gets off a huge attack but i do the same high DPS every single fight.

Message Edited by quamdar on 10-08-2005 09:40 PM

On single heroic mobs (yellow ^^^) im doing 450-650dps, on groups of yellow heroic mobs im doing 500-900dps. Its at 56lvl, with all m1/ad3 spells (m1 pet, m1 Lich). Im not going to post screens of parser here, so they wont be reposted in topics like "nerf them omg!". But, spells quality AND your playstyle REALLY affects your dps. Im very often grouping with another necro, same level as me, he isnt slacker, but he doesnt have m1 lich, m1 pets... all key spells are ad3. And his dps almost always is 30-40% lower than mine. That said, you cant compare "necro vs wizard or ranger" - it VERY depends on spells quality and playstyle. I saw wizard doing 600-700 dps on single mobs, and I saw wizard doing 200 dps on same mobs. Can we say that "omg, necro is doing 500 and wizard doing 200!". Of course not. Also, group affects your dps really high. If you have dirge, shaman (they will increase your melee pet dps), troub, warlock (+skills... yes, I saw thread where people "dont see difference", but from my experience, there IS difference - with troub my Lich procs up to 450-500DD while it says in description "370"), if you have fury, wizard (they give INT, if you dont have INT caped) --- you will have GREAT dps. Anyway - necros and conjurors are very nice dps, with some utilities (FD/rez can save you many times from CR) - good, stable sustained dps. We cant nuke mob for 6k, like wizards, we cant assasinate for 9k, we cant burn group of mobs in 3 sec like warlocks... but it isnt our role.

To really crank out the DPS, make sure you're using your scout or mage pet, and make sure they're using their offense stance (Adept 3 at least)

I like to think i do pretty good damage atm. Usually in the top of the grp/raid.

But like the guy above me said; its best not to post numbers. Pretty much ANY classboards here have posts with "nerf necro's" as a main subject. Heck even healers are jealous that we do more dmg than them.

agreed, scout pet - i am finding that he mage pet has a tendancy to die too easily a lot of the time.

I like using my Diseased Servant in Offensive Stance because when he pulls aggro off MT he has a better chance of living thru attackes. Thus if he lives I live. Whereas, when my Scout dies I eat it next 99% of the time.KD

I dont know about being low on the scale.. but I do know I was out after Foulfeather the other day as a level 28 and I had a level 41 Mystic ask to team up with me because I could put them down alot faster with less power cost than he could solo. Once I got some healing in the group there was no stopage of pulls until he had to go. We did get Foulfeather for me though.... so I think we rank pretty good on the scale as far as DPS goes.

Gilron

28 Necromancer Mistmoore
