Personally I pick my pet based on the group makeup and the targets we're going after. If we're taking on large groups of linked mobs, or if we have a lot of members who can debuff poison/disease then I'll go with the warlock. If we're taking on large single targets or we have group members that have lots of melee buffs and debuffs I go with the assassin. Oh, and if we're chain killing easy stuff I'll use the assassin since the mobs are dead before the warlock even finishes a cast. Again, just what I do. Others probably have better numbers-based reasons for their picks.

Assassin is just more 'obviously' good at DPS....warlock seems much more situational (longer cast times and encounter AEs, less health). So it's just alot easier to pick the assassin even though I suspect that the warlock could beat him in some situations.

Parsing the warlock I've never seen him get above 150 at adept3. Fights might not live long enough or something. The assin's got more quick damage and I'm getting routinely 200 dps. Wish the warlock were a lot better as I love the model and hate the lack of detail on the assin.

Armus, 54 necro Innothule

More often than not I have zombie out, as i am tanking for the group, or soloing somewhere. If thats not the case and i have a tank that knows where the taunt button is, i tend to go with assassin as he has bit more health, and can survive drawing aggro (which he seems to do regularly)

I've ben running into a lot of problems with my rog (adept I) stealing aggro a lot and getting dead in oick-up groups. Been using Warlock for that. Guild groups are about 50/50, depends on level of tanks. -T
