I'm mapping out the costs of upgrading my spells to adept 3 and I'm wondering why Id ever use this spell since my pets are so great as is. Why would I run the charm risk? <div></div>

<span>I really liked it in beta....dunno about the upgrading worth....but it was a very useful spell. Basically lets you take 1 mob in a group out of the picture AND adds some dps for killing the rest. Sure, it's kinda tricky/risky...but seemed very worth it to me since it still allowed you to use your pet (unlike chanter charms). That, and it really is cool =) </span><div></div>

<P>You can't really "not" upgrade it since it only comes in adept3 (with those ancient ... recipes)</P> <P>Supposibly it also drops as Master1 but those haven't been discovered yet i believe.</P> <P> </P> <P>And i think people here on the boards have claimed that those mobs replace your pet. I haven't gotten to 55 yet so i can't check.</P>
<DIV>I don't have it yet, but I can think of a usefullness.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Many times my scout pet dies after pulling aggro...which then transfers all the aggro to me. Meanwhile the dumb meatshield is still fighting the first mob and doesn't see an add on me. It would be nice to be able to charm that thing that's beating on me.</DIV>

i just got this yesterday afternoon, not had time to try it out as yet but have done a couple of 'not completed the casting' tests with it (wanted to see if certain mobs could be charmed) - was raiding last night so not had time to try this out. I intend on putting it to the test though, as there are a couple of ideas i have I want to test this out with - it is my suspicion that as with many eq2 spells, it will be rather limited and lacklustre (sorry, but they are) but if I get any worthwhile results, I will post them. <div></div>

Note it will still have the bonus hps creatures get for having ^, ^^, or ^^^.</DIV>

What is the duration of the charm and do you get a 2nd pet control box up? If not, how do you control it?

up to 15 mins, they get a chance to break every so often though - higher the spell quality, less chance ot break - same pet box and of course, the one and only true use of the spell : <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v640/denzil71/spectre.gif"> <div></div>

<DIV>The cast time on this spell is like 5 or 6 seconds, so its not really a "cast in the heat of battle" type of spell.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I spent a little while charming the mid 50s spectres near bay of anuk and having them fight one another, but it was risky and got boring pretty fast.</DIV>

Since I don't have to use my pet it might just be useful after all. Thanks for that tidbit. <div></div>
